  1. Nice motor matey. I guess a real kind friend drove you up to get it if you were able to drive it back.....??
  2. Thanks for the reply Matt. That 5016 unit looks the best and most affordable option going. Do they take much fitting? I'm rubbish with technical things !! Notice you are in Nottingham too. Whereabouts?
  3. Hi. Sorry to sound such a newbie but can the Kenwood DDX5016 DAB be fitted in a 2007 Octavia VRS estate? And if so is it fairly easy to do? PS I'm pretty rubbish at technical matters !!
  4. Thanks for all the replies. Put my mind a bit at rest. The car is a 2007 plate with 131,000 miles on the clock BUT it has full service history with one owner. Last serviced/MOT'd in May with no advisories. The tyres are Goodyear Continentals I think but I know at least one or two will need replacing soon. Fully take on board that I need to check the bushes and the dampers/springs may be a bit tired. I'll get this all checked out in the spring.
  5. Hi I recently bought a 2007 Skoda Octavia TFSI vRS estate and have to say I'm loving it. Lots of power, loads of space and altho it's very thirsty (28 mpg) it brings a smile to my face every time I drive it. My only gripe is that it when you drive over any tiny pothole/drain etc in the road you really notice it. I'm guessing with it being the sportier model the suspension would be harder but I never expected it to be this hard. Mechanically the car seems fine and flew through it's MOT in May with no advisories so I don't believe anything it wrong/broken. It may just be that coming from a Vauxhall Astra Hatchback I'm noticing it more. Can anyone put my mind at rest and tell me that's how the car is and that I've nothing to worry about with it and it's just a hard ride? Many thanks.
  6. Hi. Apologies for raking up an old post but I live south of the river so wondered if you'd let me know that garage you are referring to please? Many thanks.
  7. Thanks for the reply - I thought people had given up on my post !! And yes I've tried to do some more research and it does seem these cars appreciate it the finer things in life like Shell V Power. I guess it's no different than me preferring a nice fillet steak more than an roadside café burger !!
  8. Welcome Westlake. I'm a new member myself having only bought a Skoda Octavia vRS estate myself on Saturday. First impressions are good. Have you been given any advice on whether to use the standard unleaded petrol or a higher one like Shell V power? Also will you be using 5w30 oil? I've read up on this and get conflicting answers !!
  9. Thank you Freedom for the welcome and that sound advice. I spoke to a friend yesterday who said it's important to use a higher level of petrol like Shell V Power. Is this the general consensus with this cars or do most people just use the standard unleaded?
  10. Hi. Just purchased a 2007 Skoda Octavia 2.0 TFSI vRS estate with a whopping 131,000 miles on the clock ! But will full service history and just the one owner, along with the condition of the car I'm hopeful that it's got plenty more miles in it. I've noticed some of these cars doing 250K+ so mine has barely had it's mid-life crisis yet ! I'm not an expert on these cars (or any cars) bt from doing some research I believe they are fine with just normal 95 ron petrol and use 5w30 oil - If this isn't the case then any quick advice would be welcome !! My first impressions are that it's a really nice car to drive, the gearbox is nice and tight and the sporty setup and seats of the vRS make it a pleasure to drive. I haven't done any 'spirited' driving yet but did notice on the way back from buying it that the fuel gauge does like to move quickly !! Anyway I look forward to any comments and advice about the car. cheers Adrian
