  1. Oil was dropped and refilled with Nulon 5w30 + new filter ~5000km ago, was never a burner so should be good for another 5000km at least, based on prior experience. Was on a low lifter, not a rolling tow. Did the water pump/mag clutch ~40000km ago This is a video I took 20 mins ago that better demonstrates the noise, it’s a very different noise to what I experienced with the water pump/ mag clutch the first time around: https://youtube.com/shorts/ch5Jtegn4NY?feature=share
  2. Hi all, recently had a run in with the oil pressure light while on the road, pulled over and got the car towed. leading up to this happening, the engine had developed what could only be described as a grinding sound upon cold start. Comes from drivers side (RHD), seemingly low on the block. Doesn’t happen once the engine is warm, though getting it above 3-3.5k revs seems to further exacerbate the problem. Car stats: 2012 Fabia RS 190000kms CAVE engine code regularly serviced with nulon 5w-40 adhering to Lucifers oil change guide, recently replaced denso iridium plugs, correctly gapped. Since that video the sound hasn’t gone away but hasn’t gotten worse. The car is currently drivable on the advice of a local mechanic, though he’s also said to drive it as little as possible, which I do. im thinking timing chain/tensioners, but open to other suggestions or thoughts on what might be going on Cheers
  3. It would seem it did indeed. You're probably right regarding cost and difficulty as well, but hot damn it looks worth it imo.
  4. At first I was thinking a Golf of some description, but couldn't find it. It's ringing a bell but I can't seem to put my finger on it. Also, how difficult would it be to fit another vehicles bumper to the vRS? I absolutely love the look of it!
  5. New plugs ordered. SKJ20CR-A8 Had a look at the air filter maybe 6 months ago, didn't seem terrible but then I'll be honest, not really sure what to look for. Only ever 98, to the point of being a bit pedantic about it.
  6. Will check local tool suppliers tomorrow. Is actually a CAVE, which is odd because I bought it advertised as MY13... Plugs last changed ~13000km ago, not sure Re: Software Update Air filter probably needs to be replaced in all honesty. As for hot airbox, it occurs at 1100rpm 3 hours into a drive and on starting the car in the morning. Serviced at 15k km, 30k km, 45k km. 65k km and soon again at 80k km. Still have the old plugs if a picture would help?
  7. Looking to diagnose the rough idle at 1100 rpm, is fine when under normal power and at 800 rpm after the car starts, but it's rough as guts when I turn the car on, until it drops itself to that 800rpm. Think the plugs are to blame, especially as I had them replaced during a service and it got progressively worse after that service. Had a look through that thread, doesn't seem like Awesome GTI sells the tool anymore, will give the strong zip ties a go. Is it just a case of looping them under each coil and pulling hard? Also, for reference, heres a video. That violent engine movement can be felt very much throughout the car.
  8. How do I do it? Haven't been able to find anything online and it isn't jumping out at me with the bonnet lifted. I noticed a couple of little metal clips in the harness that seem to be holding it in, but lifting that out would just remove all 4 coils at once and thats not useful for what I need.
  9. "Claiming" was aimed more at the 320hp, seems like a lot of power for such an engine! Cheers for the link though, some interesting reading in there, too bad about all the pictures though.
  10. So this video is claiming a stage 3, 320hp vRS. I assume past stage 2 (and even getting to stage 2) things start getting reeeeeeeal expensive. What is the process for extracting so much power from such a small engine?
  11. @Furbytom You mentioned an HID conversion, where would I pick up a kit for this, was it local for you or a website that those of us stuck in the loneliest corner of the planet can order it from? My car needs this, the lights are laughably bad sometimes...
  12. Is there a simpler way than removing the front bar to get at the headlights in the Fabia? There's next to no space back there so I'm getting to the point where I'm thinking I'll just oull the bar off and remove the headlights, it honestly seems like less hassle than getting at the finicky little clips and such that hold the plugs on. Please, if at all possible, tell me im wrong!
  13. Has anyone on here ever fitted a VWR cold air intake to their RS? Just been reading around and apparently they wont fit if the battery is still in the engine bay, and frankly I have zero interest in relocating mine. Looking at pictures of the intake, I can definitely see this being true given the already cozy nature of the engine bay..
  14. Just to clarify, the 312mm setup from a Mk1 Octy vRS will fit the Mk2 Fabia vRS, correct? Was originally just going to get up-rated pads+discs but opinions seem to be that the gain from the larger brakes is worth the extra $$$ spent.
