When I was trying on mine the original always worked just plugging back in, never had to recode it. Bit of a bummer about it not working at all :(

The dash pod is programmed to have it sitting perfectly straight unless there is a problem. At all normal operating temperatures either side of 90 it'll stay there.

Diesel expansion is negligible, in the case of the fuel tank and temperatures its as good as non existant.

It dumps break vacuum on a diesel, I can't see any performance downfalls but as already said you will look like an idiot.

I done it on my 05 vrs with none of the hassle that is reported on here. Yes it is tight but I got in both sides without removing anything.

The digital tuning box does not fool it into running a 'winter map', it alters the fueling but not the turbo. A resistor does absolutely nothing, doesn't give you bags of low down grunt, it just makes the enginer htink its a bit colder.

What do you need on top of the discs and pads from that ebay link, callipers and carriers? I was just about to buy that kit as well but if I could source the parts for cheaper i'd do that.

Stu has just been speaking to me about this, he has managed to find an article about the speed issue. The dash pods come from factory set to fit cars without ABS. Cars without ABS get speed signal from the gearbox, the vrs gets it from the ABS sensors. There is a procedure using VAS to correct this but i'm not sure if it is even possible on vagcom. Yip we have as yet had no luck. If we can't find out soonish and you fancy having a go at one you can have mine. Sure its just some coding somewhere though as everything works fine when trying the output tests on vagcom so the signal can definitely be sent to it.

Received a new maxidot dash pod from VRStu. I'm having problems getting the dash to work properly. Stu has been extremely helpful so far and has spent a lot of time trying to get it working but so far we are having no luck. The maxidot portion of the dash works fine. The problems I am currently having are, speedo does not work at all, revs are ~300 behind what they should be, fuel guage is above what it should be and moves wildy to empty when I turn right. Miles, mpg etc don't work but I am atm assuming this is something to do with the fact speedo etc don't work. New dash pod has the same soft code and adaptation values as the old one. I am receiving one error about intermittent one wire can bus operation but this doesn't always show up. I have followed the ross-tech guides exactly and the car will drive with the dash in, just not working properly. Not even sure if this is the correct section for this but if anybody has any ideas i'd be grateful for the help.

So throwing more fuel in = power increase, unfortunately not. It just overfuels, which is bad. They do not under any circumstances have any benefits, if anything at all its a placebo effect to take away the pain of just giving your money away.

They do not work, at all. You might at the most get some extra smoke and a fault code.

Fitting it in the dash isn't too much of a problem, I can give things like that a go no problem. I have that key barcode thing so hopefully it's on that then. The fact that at the moment it seems like it can probably all be done with things I have thats all I really wanted to know. Although any information anybody else has is always handy.

Thats good, was scared it may have been some fancy stuff. SKC from skoda I assume? Do they give them out easily enough or will that also be pulling teeth?

Now I have found this I have a question about the coding. Can this be done using vagcom or does it require specialist tools that I won't be able to get a hold of?

Since I got mine i've been getting an average of 40 according to the computer, which will be optomistic. Don't know how people manage high 40's and 50's?

Regarding the last couple of pictures there, when I put mine on, when taking the jacks and axle stands out, the car didn't tilt to the side like that. It was perfectly level with the car only jacked up on one side.

Purchased, bought 2 sets as well to add even more to the GB, says i'm being charged 66.50 though which I take will be reduced when somebody looks at the order. Can't wait to see what they look like on the car now.

I would assume the surrounds screw on to the original mounting holes and the plates are secured in the surround.

Got an email back from dubmeister regarding the czech stickers, they say they could possibly start producing the czech stickers if there was enough interest, ie at least 10.
