  1. dnlbwls, I had the same concerns when looking at buying my 2011 VRS. In the end I decided to go for it, blatantly there have been problem cars in the past but it's (mainly) only the negative stuff that gets posted online. You could buy any car and run into troubles with it, that's the perks of car ownership. I love my car and would recommend highly. Really practical, economical when driven like a nun and very fun when you put your toe down.
  2. Thank you Offski, appreciate your reply, feel mildly star struck that you as the blatant wise grandfather of this forum saw and replied to my worrying/dithering comments... lol Feeling more assured now you said that, and re-considering the warranty. If things go pop then **** happens I guess, joys of motoring. Cheers, have a nice weekend all.
  3. Yes exactly, I think for the sake of £20 odd quid a month, got to be worth it with the car's track record. Don't get me wrong- love the car! but don't want to be stung with a new engine or DSG box should it go 'pop' as you say a few thousand miles down the line....
  4. Sorry it was £270 with £250 excess, less that 15000 KM /yr and on 'All component cover' ....

  6. Hi there, I've had a 2011 VRS for about 6 weeks now and keep checking back here out of interest to see what people are posting and talking about- it's great, and pleased there are so many enthusiasts. Reading this guide though would make you think well why would anyone buy this car?! Mine had oil and filter etc change at 34k in July '16 and the oil is still showing as full - so the oil consumption issue is obvisouly not an issue on my car. My concern is all the other things that could potentially go wrong. Could it be the case that actually I have a decent reliable German VAG car that will serve me well for many years to come? Most people tend to post only to complain or mention faults on the internet so that is all one gets to see (which can be depressing) but would anyone agree with me that there are actually lots of other Fabia VRS owners out there completely content with their motors and not had any problems? I'm thinking of getting a warranty for peace of mind (about £240/yr) what are your thoughts on this? Cheers Jack
