  1. Thanks it may do the same if its an built-in anti stall feature or something but yeah make sure there's a nice quiet stretch of road to be on the safe side It could be set at different speeds but I'm guessing all should be rhe same as I out above if it's a specific technology .
  2. Sounds same as me if it's the 1.4tdi too and yeah I had the dmf changed from dmf to single mass and the noise has gone a lot more audible hardly heard anything before but my dmf had gone and apparently has no choice to go to single as it was recommended by skoda apparently they had a recall for them all years ago but this was missed . And haha see your point about certain computer and software devices lol .
  3. It's wierd never had a car do it before then again this is my "newest" I've had haha. And yeah I was thinking is it not good for it bit then why would it be a feature baffles me , it definitely makes a mechanical whirring sound when it locks in but the car seems to want to do it with it pulling me to the speed up and down has anyone else tried releasing thier pedals whilst in gear on a straight at any speed to see if happens it will either almost stall or settle at the 1k revs and happily cruise . There's more noise though now as I recently had a single mass Conversion flywheel and my dual mass taken out as was recommended by skoda but all seems a lot more rattling than it was before so I can hear the gears literally whirr and clink when it engages then when I slightly turn with the curve of the road I can hear more rattling when using it but when im not cant hear anything does make me think is it good for it though.
  4. Im trying to figure out the name of a feature in my fabia mk 3 it's a 65 reg 1.4tdi so when you drive take feet off all pedals in gear it will pull to the nearest speed that it seems set to and maintain it at 1k revs and will slightly accelerate and brake to maintain the speed the speeds mines set to are . First gear 6mph 2nd 12mph 3rd 18mph ish 4th 28mph 5th around 37 ish I love it it saved fuel and keeps under speed limits handily Normally cars will slow and stall but this does that discovered it by accident when wanted to slow without breaking and it maintained speed so wondering if anyone else has noticed this in thier skoda , vw etc thanks.
  5. Mot was done 2 weeks ago when i bought it not sure how long the cat n has been on the car not sure how to check 🤔 is there a way it looked like it had been stood a while too had a rusted up exhuast which was changed and the caliper by me last week which cured the main noise but I'd noticed the clutch noise when I wasn't focusing on the other that's when the mechanic said irs the fly wheel I'm currently waiting for a refund on the extended warranty I took out to put towards the fly wheel repair soon as I can
  6. I may have sorry ive just figured out how to reply individually 😅 Yeah it was a cat n front left side I think the garage specialises in accident repairs . He didn't mention any specifics about it other than that they did offer to repair the brake caliper but ita 50 miles away and didn't want to risk taking it that far but I asked at local police station and they said its of no police interest which is all they can say and was all clear on other stuff . I juat asked in passing about a clutch noise at the garage I get repairs at the caliper was causing this issue but it's been fixed but in neutral I noticed a vibration turns out its the fly wheel tends to knock when I first start car and then when it's warm it's just extra vibration noise when changing gear but it is getting loudernot sure how long it will last but I may get £240 back from warranty assist I took out when I bought the car as they didn't even cover the caliper so it's prob not worth it and use the money towards the new dmf but I've got til Tuesday I think .
  7. Haha yeah I had a fabia 1 2htp for 6 years never had any issues got over 107k miles so decided to change had a focus for month alternator and battery went that was £700 to fox but they said had leaking turbo but was too wide and big for needs so I traded it for this fabia hoping for reliability it seems every time I get a car needs that much spending on it this had the right price of £6300 I got £3000 for focus but is costing me about as much as for one of those fixing it up hopefully garage will sort but it's 50 miles away lol
  8. Appreciate all the info all still new to me my newest car was a 2012 focus and didn't have half the stuff on it lol
  9. My local mechanic quoted me £500 as the dmf comes with the clutch he said as its all linked which is reasonable compared to a lot of places with big over heads he fixed the rear caliper for £110 compared to other quotes for £220 so half the price really he's just in a little tin shed but always been reliable . And think it was cheaper for a petrol so think service has helped but I fixed one noise and discovered the dmf it got worse yesterday on a cold stsrt hut then quietened but can still hear it clunking when changing ger and mines an se model but haven't found anything that would describe the feature it does have cruise control but that's manual at over 50 speeds this seems to be automatic upto 40 mph .
  10. Oh right how does it effect the clutch as I'm not on any of the pedals whilst using it just cover brake and clutch in case need to slow down if anything I'm using clutch less and thanks il try checking those out I don't want to be damaging anything but I'm touching pedals less and can concentrate more on road less on speedo so it seems safer all round Oh and service was £220..only place I could get it was...halfords 😅
  11. 12. I have noticed an interesting feature don't know if you have ever come across it if you remove feet off the pedals it maintains speed permanently in 1st and all gears stays at 1k revs and 1st stays speed at 6mph 2nd 12mph 3rd 18 to 20 mph 4th 28 to 30mph and 5th 36 to 40mph probably a topic for another post but I've never come across it before the car slightly pulls to the speed and pulls down a little but it's an amazing mpg saver lol
  13. Yeah it's a good point pretty sure it's sorted now with a new caliper however I mentioned a clutch noise and it's the dmf going now could be a while but looks like new clutch I'm speaking to the garage where I bought it try sort out a repair
  14. Yeah it had a full service and that was a quote for replace rear brake caliper as I asked then to check it getting a second opinion tomorrow and hopefully a cheaper quote as thst was £225 with a £40 brake fluid change seems expensive garage where I got it said bring it back as has a month warranty with them but its 50 miles away and I'd be stranded .
  15. Hi sorry its taken a bit of time finally got it in a garage and they say around £220 it's apparently the rear right brake disc caliper catching as the brakes weren't fitted well its shredded it so in contact with he garage I bought it as its still the forst month but they cleaned and checked it so the noise is less or gone but got a bad burning smell last night after a 50mph road for 10 mins it was mainly to the rear of the car so think it's that and hopefully can get it in soon for a fix
  16. Thanks all for the help I'm thinking it's a brake rubbing at the back either disc pad or handbrake along those lines could be effecting mpg too aswell as the lack of a recent service I'm getting it in a garage this next week and il update with the outcome appreciate all the helps it seems to have aimed me in the right direction so fingers crossed 🤞🏼:)
  17. Atleast the odd cruise control is keeping the gf at 1k revs and slower speeds as she likes it to rest her feet 😂so it's helping in quite a few ways...til she gets bored of it then I'm back to the pumps 😅
  18. Thanks again it could possibly be that hopefully il have an update soon as possible appreciate all the information my last main car was an 07 fabia I had for 7 years then moved to a 1.0 focus for a month but it was too big so came to this and I love it it's just re learning all the complications and changing style of driving from petrol I think...its the girlfriend who like to use the turbo 😅I'm like your killing my mpg gains but yeah my next step is garage visit with a service hopefully will shed some light. Had one surprise so far with the tyre inflation light never had one of those before 😅 but figured that out ...eventually after a lot of googling. And yes possibly the other thing seems to be some kind of automatic cruise control but I only thought that was manually set and mainly over 50 mph so I've no idea il try get to that on another post at some point . And that's very true i was thinking of a remap for mpg but ...I haven't much clue about that either haha
  19. Thanks appreciate all the info and check all that out and remember it 🙂 il check those plates and make sure I can get it to a proper garage for a proper service and roottoot check it it does seem like the last owner has hardly driven it I'm still learning it been revving bit too hard testing it out so mpg isn't great barely 40 mpg bit quite bit of town and few a roads, unless the issue is causing it to be low by rubbing and or poor service etc ..I've just discovered that if I take my feet of the pedals it maintains speed at 1st 6mp 2nd 12 mph 3rd 20mph 4th 30 mph and it stays at 1k revs has stalled once or twice whilst driving with it not sure how but it's blown my mind and I don't even know what the feature is called ccs maybe? for the car so its all new not had a modern ish car or diesel for a long time but the rubbing grinding noise is faintly appearing on slightly bumpy roads now it seems so I'm hoping to get it looked at next week .
  20. Inwas just going to use the free checks they have listed on thier website go somewhere else for the job/s but I'm thinking maybe if they are so bad and incompetent is there much point is it better to go anywhere else mainly could do with a checkup and it is well over due for service I think
  21. Haha I'd just use the free checks I think nit I'm guessing they may just say everything's broken anyway so may not he much point lol
  22. Only 2 days so still has a month warranty with the trader but paid for a year with warranty assist but the trader is about 50 miles from where I live ..seems to mainly happen at lower revs and speed on slightly bumpy roads seems worse when turning right hoping to get it to a garage soon for a check next week as needs oil change may use the free checks at halfords see if they can see much.
  23. The fitting do look quite rusty seems to be at lower revs and speed under 30 on slightly bumpy roads
  24. Thanks for replying It seems to be only in a very specific few places on a slight incline whilst turning mainly right at only a slight angle seems to trigger it then when I stop it doesn't come back til I recreate the specific situation again...its really odd it did have a new exhaust fitted too but that would be a different clanging sound this sounds like brakes rubbing but surely that would happen all the time . I'm trying to get it to a mechanic soon but it's really hard to pinpoint..I was thinking the discs or cv joints or bearing but the slight incline could it be suspension ? It's really strange .
