  1. Its been a while since I did this, but I don't think I even needed to use the black boxes. I'm not at home at the moment so can't check, but I'm 99% sure I just plugged them straight in and never had any issues. Let me know
  2. Hi all, I currently have Solutions PCP finance on my Octavia VRS 220 and have been extremely happy with the car. I have a couple years left on the finance and wondered whether anyone has moved to SEAT? I quite like the look and performance of the SEAT Cupra 300 Estate 4Drive and don't fancy waiting 2 years to upgrade, so curious as to whether I could trade-in my Octavia and transfer the finance easily since it's all under the VW Finance group. Thanks, Chris
  3. Thanks mate I found a guide for Thule bars on the vrs and it recommends using the two most inner holes. (So on the nearside: Front door will use right hole, and the back door with use the left hole). Guide on Page 4
  4. That's great, thanks alot for the help
  5. Hi all, I've just purchased a Cruz Airo Roof Bar kit for my octavia vrs hatchback 2014 from roofbox.co.uk. I went to look on the underside of the driver door sills and there are two small screw holes above each door where my roof bar foot pack would hook underneath. Is there something I should be screwing into these first before fitting the roof bar kit, in order to protect the paintwork or something? Any help is greatly appreciated.
  6. I have a 14 plate octavia vrs tsi hatch and I couldn't seem to find a locking wheel nut before I took my car for an MOT. It passed the MOT fine, but wondered whether there even is one for these cars? Thanks
  7. That's brilliant Mike, I'll try this as soon as I can! I'll post back if it sorts it
  8. As is taking it to Skoda to upgrade the firmware? A few others have done this and hasn't worked for them :(
  9. Several times now my Columbus head unit does not respond to any buttons I press. The physical side buttons (Nav, Traffic, Media etc all work) and it hasn't frozen as the Navigation is correctly moving with the position of the car as I drive. It's as if the screen does not allow any finger touches to register. I've heard about it happening to some people when the weather is cold and many times is has been cold-ish when it doesn't work, but it happened tonight at 8 degrees outside and still would not work after 15 min drive home with heaters on high. Does anyone know any fix? Someone said to wipe the screen with methylated spirits but I'm not sure if this will damage it? I have a Octavia VRS mk3 reg in 2014 if it helps? I'm doing a 6 hour drive down south in a week and i'll be setting of early in the morning. At this rate I'll be driving in total silence and not being able to program my sat nav
  10. I used a plastic removal tool to not scratch the paint, but if you're using a screwdriver I'd recommend using a cloth or something over the end. Just insert the screwdriver on the left hand side and gently try pop them out. I did mine in literally 10 seconds each.
  11. Mines GY14, I haven't driven much yet to test the songs which it crackled on, but so far it seemed better (could just be wishful thinking though! ) Today or tomorrow I'll post whether it's improved it or not I meant fixed as in I've worked how to update the Bluetooth
  12. I've recently updated my Columbus maps to ECE2017, but noticed that there is a Bluetooth update (3.73.0) on the Skoda portal too. Does anyone know how I go about updating the Bluetooth software in the car? The only way I can find an update option is on the navigation menu which asks to update the entire 23GB maps again. (The reason I'm after updating the Bluetooth is that I regularly get some crackling on songs when using Bluetooth and Spotify from my phone) Any help is greatly appreciated!
  13. Not sure why you would want it less readable either, unless you're regularly doing something you shouldn't be?
