  1. Hi all My 2011 vRS petrol suddenly began to run quite poorly when cold. It doesn't misfire and is ok under power, but at low rpm and low load it seems to hunt for want of a better description. I replaced the coil packs and it made little difference, now I'm wondering what to try next - I'm thinking a sensor may be on the blink although an obd scan shows no error codes. Can anyone suggest possible culprits? I'll probably start going through replacing them beginning with the cheapest. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance Chris
  2. Hi All The exhaust on my 2011 TFSi vRS has broken and needs to be replaced, but the OEM parts are -£1000 and on back order apparently. I'd like to get something as little louder than OEM as possible and for the least money. Options I've seen so far are Hornet mild steel at £250 or Milltek stainless at about £700. As I may not keep the car all that much longer I'm tempted by the lower cost of the Hornet but worried it might be too loud or drone badly. I'm suspecting the resonated Milltek is likely to be quieter. If anyone has experience of either of these systems and could give any comment, or any other suggestions it would be most welcome. Cheers! Chris
  3. Hi All I have the problem as described. The car so far has always eventually started after a varying number of attempts and except for one occasion (this morning), once started it stays running. This morning it did stop again when put into gear, but started after a few more attempts. The check engine light sometimes comes on, sometimes stays off. I had the local specialist check and scan for error codes but nothing was reported and they couldn't replicate the fault. One thing I noticed today was that while in the non-starting mode, the engine will crank without the clutch pressed. Normally it will not. Does anyone have any advice on where to start looking for the root cause of this problem? Any advice gratefully received. Chris
  4. Update: Removing the switch, dismantling, cleaning contacts and reassembling has solved the problem (for now). Cheers Chris
  5. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. It seemed like it may depend on whether or not I'd turned the key. In any case I can't seem to affect it by wiggling the key. Also, even when it does go with a clonk, the radio still stays on 😞
  6. Thanks Mic - that was my first instict actually - it does make a definite click sometimes, but even then it isn't working. WD40 didn't work immediately 😔
  7. Hi Guys I've done a search without a huge amount of success - I'm wondering whether anyone has any ideas on this one: The car is a 2011 2.0 TFSI vRS with about 130k miles When I remove the key from the ignition barrel, the radio no longer switches off by itself and I can't lock the car with the remote, but can activate the central locking with the key. The first time it did it, it worked on a second attempt, but now it seems to be a hard fault. If anyone has experienced the same symptoms and found a solution, it'd be great to hear about it! Many thanks in advance Chris
