  1. Excellent point, driven with a bit of "enthusiasam" 30 to 35 mpg is the norm, flipping hopeless. Geoff.
  2. Up untill June last year I had owned a 1.2 Tsi 110 Fabia Estae SEL from new. Having been a serial car changer all my motoring life the fact that I had kept it for 2.5 years having never kept a car longer than a year should have rang warning bells. I fancied another Fabia Estate but wifey was against buying the same car again and said she fancied a Mini. Now I have never been a fan of BMW products either two or four wheels but lets not be selfish so a 5 door Mini Cooper Auto with a couple of ludicrously priced add on packs was duelly purchased. BIG MISTAKE. From the word go I have never "gelled" with the car and cant wait till it is economically viable to get rid and get another Fabia Estate. Older and wiser, well definatelly older. Geoff.
  3. Exactly the same as mine,1.2 Tsi Mk3. It's just part of the character of this delightful power plant. Geoff.
  4. I experienced a similar problem but the other way round with the sat nav cutting out. Changed the USB cable and all was well. Geoff.
  5. I also hope the 1.2tsi is super reliable as after looking at many, many alternatives we have decided to run ours until it is no longer economically viable, Geoff.
  6. I currently run a 1.2 Tsi 110 and agonised about changing it for a new 1.0 Tsi as my current car is three years old this year. Tried the 1.0 and concluded that the extra money to change was simply not worth it. More relevant to your question the 1,2 just felt "better" to me, just not as stressed as the 1.0. Now I fully appreciate that the 1.2 with 30,000 miles recorded is probably at its optimum but it was not just a case of it being looser it just felt more comfortable producing the goods. I know this is highly subjective but this is just how I found it. Geoff.
  7. One major factor that stopped me from changing would be the self-imposed tax bill of some £3.5k that a £20k car brings with it. Geoff.
  8. Just to bring this to a conclusion, we have been looking around at many alternative cars over the past few weeks and I have found nothing that suits our needs better than our present tsi 110 sel estate. We also found the justification for replacing for a new like for like could not be made on a cost basis, So we will continue with our current car and have sourced a well respected independent VAG garage operating at about 75% of the main agents pricing. Whether as to take an extended warranty is as yet undecided. Thanks for the input. Geoff.
  9. Thanks for all the responses, very helpful and appreciated. Geoff.
  10. Thank you, that is exactly the sort of information that am looking for. Geoff.
  11. This coming year our 2016 1.2 Tsi will be coming up to 3 years old. When I was working the car was changed every 2 to 3 years, however, two things have happened. 1) I have now retired. 2) Previously I was always looking to the next car but I am completely happy with this Skoda. So the big question is, do I change it or keep it. If I keep it do I take an extended warranty as I have read about some catastrophic failures of this engine or do I change it. The advantage of changing is I would like the DSG option but am I correct in thinking that the equivalent car is now the 1.0 Tsi and whilst producing the same power it is not as torquey as the car that I currently have. Geoff.
  12. Recently enabled the "Oil Temp" readout on the 1.2tsi, had a brisk run down the A1 and the oil temp was around 99/100 degrees C, is that about where it should be? Geoff.
  13. I have just been through the options on our Fabia Mk3 with a Carista. The main objective was a wish to disable the stop/start. There are two options, the only option that I could use was option 1 which allowed me to raise the voltage from the factory set of 7.4V to 12V. This appears to have done the trick but I have no real understanding of why. Option 2 came up as "unsupported" if someone could possibly explain all of this for me I would be very grateful. Geoff.
  14. I live in the Barnard castle area and just wondered if anyone in the area has the handset required to disable the stop/start feature on my car ( for a fee ). The main dealer will not do it, for obvious reasons. Geoff.
  15. Just gave them a ring out of interest and "NO" they can't. I would imagine this is probably due to the CO2 certification being compromised if it were permanently disabled. Geoff.
  16. Oh please, please do tell me how to do this. I hate stop/start witha passion. Geoff.
  17. Just installed my "dashcam" info in this thread very helpful indeed. Thanks. Geoff.
  18. Just to clarify, I VT'd and they tried to charge "excess Mileage" told them to go away. http://www.thecarexpert.co.uk/car-finance-voluntary-termination-pcp-hp/
  19. 110 SEL Estate, 2 months old, 2,000 miles. Slight interior noises on start, quiet when warmed up. Considering interior is being lifted from just above zero degrees to say 21 degrees is something like 15 to 20 minutes and many "dissimilar materials" I would consider this to be quite acceptable for a vehicle at this price point. Geoff.
  20. If you have already paid 50% or more of the total amount of the agreement then just exercise your rights under the "Sale of Goods Act" and VT (voluntary terminate) the agreement. Geoff.
  21. Thats exactly how ours felt, now after 2,000 miles greatly improved. Still a slight "notch" engaging first but not an issue. Geoff.
  22. Yes inboard fuse box under rotary lighting control switch, very strange. Awaiting response from dealer, will get back to you when I have the answer (unless it is too embarrassing). Geoff.
  23. Thanks also for that but that is the manual that I have and it don,t match the box in my vehicle. Geoff.
  24. Thanks for that, just checked and not in my manual, fuses on page 163 but layout does not match my car. Time to phone dealer methinks. Geoff.
