  1. After pounding my Fabia 2 VRS over poor local roads and even worse potholes for the last 15 months, I have found that the super VRS was not the best means of transport for me. I have moved into the comfort setting and now drive a BMW 325i 3 litre E90. Not as much fun as the VRS but certainly more relaxing. Many thanks to all those who have helped through the topics posted and all the best from County Down and AXZ 3905.Good luck for the future.
  2. Hi, I have had the same problem on my VRS and it seems to have seen cured by the tyre fitters remounting the tyre on the rim and cleaning around the tyre vale seat. Corrosion was thought to be the blame. There have been no further pressure problems after several months.
  3. Hi, For anyone living near Bangor, County Down and needs a high quality wheel alignment carried out by someone who knows what they are doing, contact Andrew at Street Racer. I have never seen such an impressive and very accurate alignment rig. Just had my car done and well worth the extra cost for a professional job on equipment more used to race cars. Superb car needs equally high quality treatment. (I have no attachment to this business other than being a very impressed customer)
  4. Still unable to remove mirror covers. Any more ideas would be appreciated. Regards
  5. Many thanks. I have a set of plastic trim tools and will go gently.
  6. Hi, Guys. Has anyone removed a door mirror cap on a 2010 fabia 2 to allow it to be repainted? Scratched in car park! Any help will be appreciated.
  7. Just fitted new front discs and pads to my mk2 vrs petrol. Used Motoquip 288mm coated discs. These have a very light zinc coating which wears off in the pad tracks after first run. Any parts of the discs not in the path of the pads remain protected. Motoquip pads also fitted and the trick to a good brake as previously stated is fluid change and ensuring that the pad guides and caliper pins are free to allow pads to 'centre' in caliper. Brakes on my vrs are now excellent. Cost of job all in £70.00.
  8. Good quality uprated xenon bulbs are safest as I believe that it is illegal to retrofit HID lamps unless the car has auto headlamp levelling and washers. Automatic MOT fail. The MOT in Northern Ireland is only conducted in government test centres unlike the mainland. There may be a discrepancy in the application of the test which features computerised processes.

  11. BP in Northern Ireland show 97. Maxol although confirmed as 98 doesn't show any grade.
  12. Dear Mr. McMurray, Thank you for your email and your interest in Maxol. The octane rating for our super unleaded petrol is 98. I trust this answers your query. Regards, Maelíosa Maxol Limited 3 Custom House Plaza, IFSC, Dublin 1 T. +353 (0) 1 6076800 F. +353 (0) 1 6076850 E. [email protected] W. www.maxol.ie Above response from Maxol today stating that their unleaded is 98 octane. As the usual BP and some Texaco garages in County Down are 97 octane, this seems to be good news. Maxol garage at top of hill from Newtownards towards Donaghadee sells this.
  13. Now got photo of VRS. 2010 cave, 55k miles, Shell Helix Ultra, Bosch Iridium plugs. Goes extremely well and economic. Always a head turner.
  14. Sorry Guys. Only realised after posting that this was the wrong section. Thanks for putting me in the right direction.
  15. Does anyone have a guide for changing spark plugs on 2010 1.4 vrs Fabia 2 with TSI engine? No 1 plug under pipework hard to get at. Pictures would be very helpful.
  16. Moved from Insignia 220 turbo (evil beast) to Mk 2 VRS petrol. Great driving car and comfortable despite firm ride. Runs BP Ultimate 97 (no other grade available in NI), Shell Helix Ultra 5w40 changed every 10k, Currently running very well with 1st change of spark plugs by main dealer at 36k and are about to be changed to Bosch at 55k. No real issue regarding oil consumption. Slight use but acceptable. All in all a car for driving as quick or relaxed as your mood takes. Average 45mpg. Would recommend.

  19. Pleased to join Briskoda as new Fabia VRS owner. Just downsized from Insignia Turbo 220 bhp which didn't give as much driving pleasure as VRS. Forum looks great and hope to make great use of it. Regards Billy5259
