  1. Take great care of my 2014 L&K Superb. Moving countries and considering selling. At the ferry, 10 minutes before departing country, car in front of me decided to back up and slammed into my front. No cosmetic damage other than dented license plate and a minor shift in the lower grill. Now the Emissions Control Light is illuminated, the Tire Pressure Light is illuminated and I can’t reset the pressure, the OAT only shows dashes, and the Parking Sensor says it’s unavailable (might be because of the bicycle rack on the back but it worked before). I have another 10 hours of driving. I am super ****ed that some lady decides to back up in a line for the ferry. We were literally the last 3 cars and she couldn’t wait 30 seconds for the car in front of her to start moving. So...is it serious? Do I continue to the destination? Expensive? I’m also going from low-cost country to high-cost. Murphy’s law!!!!
  2. Local auto shop only had 1 type of front windshield car shade. A flimsy material that uses suction cups that only hold for a few minutes rendering the whole thing useless. What are other people using for their Skoda Superb? The one I had doesn't even fit the size of the windshield.
  3. First hatchback (estate) model for me. A previously-owned 2014 Skoda Superb. The rear window jet washer shoots a single stream onto the glass, as opposed to the front windshield which sees a well-dispersed mist across the entire glass. The front window is cleaned easily, while the rear window needs a lot of fluid, does not clean as well, and might work better if it had a wider spray area. Back window often needs a lot of cleaning during a long drive in the winter moths. Is this particular to my car or common?
  4. Car won’t start after sitting for 8 days and weather slightly below freezing. Noticed the battery is 68 ah while Skoda lists 72 in their eshop. Car is imported from Germany. Is it a norm to use less powerful batteries in warmer climates? Not that I would consider Germany warm...
  5. How easy is it to change the battery? Found one from a retailer that advertises it fits my model Skoda. Otherwise, I would go to the dealer, although I have no idea what that would cost at the moment. I have no tools at home since I live like a nomad for the time being.
  6. I bought a used 2014 Superb. Had it inspected at the dealer and they found no significant faults (other than 1 side mirror heating element not working). The weather is starting to get cold and I have noticed that the car does not start as briskly as it used to. Previously it would start immediately, now it takes a few seconds and it sounds like the starter working harder than before. Could it be the battery? Haven't had to replace a car battery before so I have no clue how long they last, but maybe this is the original battery. Should it not last more than 3-4 years?
  7. I recently bought a 2014 L&K Superb with an aux heater factory installed. I can activate the heater with the key fob but can't seem to get the pre-set timer to work. Basically, I have gotten the pre-set timer to work once, which was the setting without a weekday defined. I assume then that the heater will turn on every day of the week. There is an option to choose a particular weekday and time, which isn't working. First attempt made me realize that I had set the date to 2016, so that has been corrected but still no luck. I have the climate control settings set according to the manual. Any advice?
  8. I am looking for a USB charger plug to put in the cigarette lighter in the center console that is small enough to allow me to close the covering flap/door over the unit when not in use. I am talking about the flap that you can push/pull to allow access to where the ashtray would be; my car has a small tray rather than an ashtray. I have a USB charger adapter but it sticks out too much to allow me to close the small flap. Would something like this size work: https://www.amazon.co.uk/AUKEY-Charger-Output-iPhone-Samsung-Black/dp/B00M6Q83B4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1505506973&sr=8-2&keywords=usb+charger+cigarette+lighter
  9. New-for-me 2014 L&K diesel with aux heater installed. When is it recommended to use the auxiliary heating? Manual doesn't suggest a temperature. I reason that a warm engine from the start is better than a cold one. With that logic should I use the aux heat before every drive regardless of outside temperature to ensure a warm engine before driving? How am I to interpret this from the manual? Is the ventilation activated by turning on the aux heat when it is above the set temperature on the control panel?
  10. I am making a separate thread since I saw another individual looking for a used Superb. Thought it might be helpful that answers aren't lost in another thread I started. So, what are the first things to do when getting a pre-owned Superb? Is there anything people would definitely recommend doing? Upgrades? Don't really know what the VCDS is, but have impression depending on equipment installed it is possible to activate certain features. Mine is a 2014 L&K combi with: Climate control 4x power windows Electrically adjustable mirrors (heated mirrors, folding) Automatic anti-dazzle mirrors (inner, outer) Sunroof (glass, electric) Panorama glass roof KESSY keyless-go Cruise control Parking aid (front, rear) Electrical tailgate opening system (remote) WEBASTO engine pre-heating Interior pre-heating 2x door curtains Inside illuminated doors Spot lights Coming-/Leaving-Home system Adaptive lights
  11. Thanks for the tips. Had the car checked out at the Skoda dealer in town. Only problems were: Right side view mirror heating element is inop (LHD) Left rear door seal not in perfect condition, but mechanic said it wasn't an issue L&K logo missing from right front panel Seller gave me a 200 Euro discount for the mirror with an estimated repair from the dealer of 275 Euro. I can live with that. Superb...here I come.
  12. TLV...thanks for the explanation. Same situation with the vehicle fleet in Denmark where I lived previously; lots of import from Germany for the exact same reasons. My added struggle has been finding a model with the specifications I am interested and the age since I will likely bring it back to Denmark...where the registration for all cars starts at 180%. A new fully loaded Superb will run about 100.000 Euros...and that's not even an L&K because they don't sell that model since cost would be too high for the market. So, I need a car at least 4 years old or older.
  13. I'll have to take my chances with the seller. That's why I am asking about anything in particular I should look for. And will get an inspection from an independent company. I just moved to Estonia and my impression is that many cars are imported as the used car selection is limited in such a small country. Import from Germany = more model selection + cars with more options
  14. Private seller. Importer from various European countries, primarily Germany. I have not driven or seen the car yet, but ad states that full service history is available. I will get a full pre-purchase inspection before a purchase if I am satisfied with a test drive.
