Noted, however they are quite a way from me....Shark the other hand are a quick trip away so would probably go with them when i can.....like the look of the turbo replacment part they do as well....

Thanks Sarge .......didnt even notice the xenons until a few days after getting it....was too busy checking around and under the car i actually didnt check the headlights........goes to show how little i know about more modern cars ....like them though. Not pushed it yet so really dont know what it can do yet.......petrol....it had to be petrol

yep...the first thing i got checked out when i took it in for the service..........check it was working ok and change the oil ....off to check what tyres i need....reckon i have a slow on the drivers front side.

Hi folks, after much deliberation i settled on buying a Scout rather than a VRS or 4x4. Had it a couple of weeks now, not done much mileage as yet but i'm enjoying driving it...longest drive was a 60 miler when bringing it home. I would go out on a limb as say its just as comfortable as my previous Volvo . 57k on the clock and it has been looked after...the odd stone chip but other than that its in good condition. I have had a full service and check over so should be good for a few miles before MOT is due. Just need new discs when the pads need replacing as they are corroded. It has been a little bit of an adjustment going back to a manual box after 7 years in an auto but i am getting there.....i must say the gearbox is nice and positive but i am finding the short ratio hard work....sure i will get used to it.......it seems as though i ave been missing out on whats available by driving a much older car!!! May get it remapped if and when i can get the money together

Well i bought a 10 plate Scout today...and yes fishing (started at 7 years old and still going) made me listen to my head rather than my heart.......terrible weather for checking out a car but at least it was under cover......just very cold as was raining/snowing on and off all day in Wakefield..well pleased with the 60 mile plus ride home despite some terrible weather on the M1. i'll post some pics elsewhere when i can get them sorted. Its early days yet but the car seems quite well sorted and planted....will get the car checked out and have a play

great info thanks...reckon its definately the estate version for me.. i too think i prefer the estates look......the dogs dont go in the car very often....but that is an important consideration. in regard to ride.....im travelling to look at a Scout tomorrow....in a mates pre FL VRS with standard springs so i guess i''ll have my own views . i think the ride feeling is very subjective. I have spent the last 6 plus years in a V70 armchair....i suspect all of the variants will feel firm and or crashy....i'll report back....thanks for all the input folks....

thanks for all the replies folks. Hopefully going to look at a Scout tomorrow it has the standard 17" alloys which look much more fitting for this car...we'll see how the suspension is.....dont think i would want to lower it ....may want to replace the suspension at a later date though.

funnily enough i have just posted a further question about a 4x4. Not too bothered about ground clearance as i dont a lot of rough roading.....but to be truthful i have been looking at the 4x4 and Scout versions

Hi again folks, so i have my eye on a 10 plate Octavia 4x4 estate which has 15 inch Skoda alloys. The car certainly looks like its "perching" on wheels which look too small/wrong on the car. I have had a quick look through the forum but cannot find anything definitive on what is required if i wanted to lower the suspension on a 4x4. Its weird but the Scout version doesn't appear to look the same but i presume that is due to the extra mouldings with the Scout or because they are 17" standard wheels? So my questions are.... can i get away with 17inch alloys and what exactly would i need in order to drop the suspension....i'm not looking to go silly....lets say normal or VRS height for arguments sake........i would be looking at changing the shocks for Bilstein type anyway. So assuming this can be done......what parts would i need exactly and at what kind of cost ballpark parts only figure? sorry if this is a daft question
