  1. Hello @GreenMachine1.6 did you ever get a fix for this? My sunshade is doing exactly the same thing. Cheers. Mark.
  2. Hi Stonker. I did this over the weekend. Much easier to do than I expected. Thanks for showing me the way. Mark.
  3. Hi Stonker. I have an OBDEleven and would love to know how to do this. I agree the threshold is too low - sometimes I find myself accelerating up to 38 mph/60kph just to turn on the auto full beam. I have a 2017 Octivia 2.0 TDi. Can you point me to the info I'd need? Thanks. Mark.
  4. I thought I'd share the following in case it helps any other owners - headline: a dodgy battery can cause strange problems. 2017 Octavia SEL Estate 2.0 TDI 4x4. I got a yellow 'preheating unit' warning light accompanied by the car going into 'limp home' mode - awful, could hardly pull away from traffic lights etc. Problem went away an hour later, Skoda garage investigated - nothing wrong. A couple of weeks later - exactly the same problem - again it cleared itself - again the garage found no problem. Luckily the problem re-appeared when I went to pick it up from the garage - this time it wouldn't start. Battery failure. Skoda replaced the battery - no problems since (fingers crossed). Now I'm hoping it was just the battery, not something else that caused the battery to fail over time. Anyway, I hope someone finds this useful if you are hunting down a frustrating intermittent problem.
  5. Just updated my maps for the first time thanks to the advice on here - thanks everyone. One thing that caught me out for a while. The Skoda SD card has a sliding switch on the side that needs to be moved to allow the card to be written to, so that you can delete the old files and upload the new ones. Then slide it back where it was before re-inserting the SD card into your car.
  6. Like many others on this forum, I have been plagued with Skoda Connect problems over most of the last year. My phone uses the EE network which was particularly badly affected, as registered with and confirmed by Skoda themselves. However the problems now seem to have been resolved, at least for me. My first year's (lack of) connection was free with my new car, but I've recently received an email asking me to pay a subscription if I want to keep it. I reasoned that, since I've been unable to use the service for most of the last year, Skoda UK should offer me a discount. So I asked for one. Answer: No - this is the response I got from one of their customer relations people: "Unfortunately, there is no option to temporarily freeze or extend the services without a charge, once the first year of the services expire. The charge is implemented by the ŠKODA parent company and cannot be waived or reduced. The cost of extending the services after the first year are currently: Infotainment online: 63.00 GBP per year" Not happy obviously. Has anyone else who's had the same issues been more successful in getting a discount from Skoda UK?
  7. I have Android 8.1 on my LG Nexus 5X, and it usually connects OK. I did have issues with the EE network for a long time, but it seems better these days.
  8. Yes Skoda Connect is flaky, especially if you use the EE network (EE also provide the network for others such as BT, Plusnet, Asda, Virgin, etc). There's a separate thread on this here: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/437282-bt-mobile-and-skoda-connect-problems/
  9. Smartlink stopped working on my Nexus 5 phone after the last Android upgrade (to 8.0 Oreo). This article fixed the problem for me: https://www.theandroidsoul.com/unable-to-connect-pixel-nexus-to-pc-android-o-fix/ It's easy to do, and might help others who have Android phones that don't work.
  10. There's another active thread (BT Mobile and Skoda Connect problems). All the people with problems on there seem to be using the EE network. Lots of providers use the EE network: EE of course plus BT, Plusnet, Virgin, Asda and many others. Is this just a Skoda Connect compatibility issue with the EE network?
  11. I'm on Plusnet mobile, which uses the EE network (as does BT Mobile ... is this only a problem on the EE network???) and have the same issues. However, I tried a suggestion from a similar thread which has improved things for me a little. It's still flaky, and regularly gives the dreaded 'no data connection available' message, but at least it connects sometimes - occasionally the WLAN icon appears next to the Globe icon at the top of the screen and the live traffic symbols appear on the nav system. I even discovered the rain radar page in the Connect weather app - nice. The steps I took were: 1. Log into the portal https://skoda-connect.com/portal - Select User Profile (top right) - Select Garage - Note the VIN of your current vehicle - Delete your current vehicle - Wait until you get an email confirming deletion (a few minutes) - Add your current vehicle back again (using the VIN you noted) - Note the PIN generated 2. In your car (I have an Amundsen unit), whilst connected to the internet (under WLAN in your Settings) - phone hotspot in my case - Press the Menu button - Select Settings - Select Factory Settings - Select Skoda Connect - Reset Skoda Connect settings - Press the Menu button - Select Skoda Connect - Enter the PIN you noted Hopefully that will get you going again. For me, it didn't accept the PIN right away because it still had no data connection on my Plusnet mobile (doh!), so I tried a phone with a different provider (Vodafone) which did work. Now my Plusnet mobile will work sometimes, which it didn't before. Good luck to others.

  13. Thanks for all the replies. Shame it's not easily done. I have a FL MY18 SE L (HBA is standard fit) so will have to wait for the VCDS mod. On the bright side it sounds as if my HBA camera is the same as that used for Lane Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition so, when a VCDS mod for HBA activation speed is available, I might be able to get them added
  14. High Beam Assist works well, but only activates above 60 km/h (37 mph) - it takes too long to activate on dark country lanes. The online manual says: "The headlight can switch on automatically at speeds above 60 km/h or 40km/h. The headlight switches off automatically when the speed falls below 30 km/h." I'm in the UK. Is it possible to switch the activation speed from 60 to 40 km/h? The online manual has a footnote saying 40 km/h only applies to certain counties.
  15. WallMeerkat I can confirm that it's totally useless in South-East England too. Mind you, its randomness makes it good for keeping in contact with people you haven't called for years!
