  1. Hi all, I have been away from here for a few years i'm afraid but found this forum to be really helpful in the early days of my Octavia ownership. As the tittle suggests the clutch pedal on my 2014 mk3 octavia vrs is not fully returning after depression. I continued to drive the car for a couple of months (only a couple of short journeys per week) as this didn't happen all of the time but started to occur more often. So I left it with a trusted garage for a week for them to drive so that the could assess what remedial work was required, unfortunately they didn't experience any problem at that time but suggested that it would be the slave cylinder and was a pricey job, so I took the car back and continued to drive it for a couple more weeks but the clutch pedal sticking was getting more regular, so I arranged for it to go into the garage for a new slave cylinder. The garage fitted a new clutch assembly, flywheel and slave cylinder at a cost of almost £1200 and considered it sorted, however on my 2 mile journey home after collecting my car the clutch pedal was just as before, to say that I was disappointed would be an understatement. I informed the garage owner immediately and he said that I should drop it back in for them to re bleed the system as there must be some trapped air. This made no difference and in fact at one point I couldn't change gear at all as the clutch pedal had so little travel on it. My question is, has anyone experienced this problem and what is the solution. Thank you in anticipation of some good help and advice, Cheers, Ian
  2. It was mainly my wife getting in the passenger side who was telling me that there was a petrol smell, too my embarrassment I ignored her for many weeks. It was when I had my sleeping grandson in the car I had parked up and got out to stretch my legs and noticed the strong petrol smell as I approached the front passenger door, engine was at full operating temperature. It shocked me to think that I had put my grandson into unnecessary danger hence my words to the dealer. If your car catches fire it may not be just you at risk ! NO VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE ANY PETROL FUMES ESCAPING FROM ANY PART. Get it checked before the worst happens
  3. Hi, sorry for lateness here, I had the same problem some months ago (whilst still under warranty) after occasionally smelling petrol for some time, I took the car to the local dealer and said that I wasn't prepared to drive it any further due to it being a safety issue, they immediately took it into the workshop and identified the problem as the high pressure fuel pump failure. They wouldn't even let me drive the 2 miles to home and the new pump was fitted within 36 hours , no nasty smells since, I believe it is a known fault. If you haven't had this fixed yet I strongly recommend that you do without further delay,
  4. I posted on this subject previously as ( SILVER ONE)I have now changed my forum name. It is a very annoying and slightly embarrassing problem as any vehicle that you are overtaking dissapears in your white cloud. Do any of the VW, Audi or Seat equivalent cars suffer from this issue or is this maybe due to the specific design of our exhaust system which must be running cool or cold. Either way I have not witnessed any other cars on the road doing this !!
