It's getting fully done with belts etc etc, didn't think you could skim the head it's already on the 3 hole gasket which is the thickest one if I'm not mistaken. I was only asking the question I'm happy to buy a new head if I have to, this is just a toy for a bit of fun

Are the fjw/fsm gearboxes a straight fit on the 05 vrs, car currently has the hds box but I'm struggling with 2nd and 6th gear. Thought I'd go with the older box.

Is this basically a 1749va hybrid, is it stamped 1756 as I was told I had a man turbo but it's stamped 1749va

Do you think I'll get away with just doing gasket as it's fine it not constantly driven hard

Think I may have head lift, pd150 bolts but after really hard driving I'm loosing coolant from the overflow on the header tank. Header isn't genuine vw not sure if this makes any difference. any ideas mark

What's the standard turbo on a vrs, I was told it had a xmans turbo on but looking at the turbo it seems to have a very small compressor. I'm going to try get a pic of the numbers on compressor housing

Yeah cheers tried this though when I went to lock the lever on the gearbox it seemed to lock down at 11 o'clock not 12 so hopefully I did it right. It's made no difference though I need to go as if I'm goining into 1st then drop down to 2nd. Changes up perfect, still struggling with 6th

Cheers was going to try this as it has had a new clutch fitted recently, it's on 118k thought it would of lasted longer

Issue with 2nd and 6th gear on my 2005 vrs changes up perfect into 2nd but difficult to select when slowing down unless you go into 1st then drop it into 2nd. I struggle selecting 6th at any time.
