  1. I've just put a 3" Toyo 2 piece decat on mine with the standard system and although it is a little deeper on acceleration there is very little difference other than the boost comes on a bit stronger. It's still quiet. You can get rid of the back box and straight pipe it with a sports cat but it will be fairly loud. There are lots of Youtube clips of people doing it if you want to hear what it sounds like. Depends on what you want it to sound like.
  2. So as I read it, LED retro fit will be outlawed aswell?
  3. Won't MOT testers be picking up anything that is non halogen? Can't find anything online about the change in lighting when the new regs come in.
  4. You might need to put a few hundred quid into in but it will be worth it for what you get back. If it was me and I had a 20,000 mile 12+ year old car I would repair it, get it detailed and put it up for sale. I wouldn't dream of breaking something like that. It's not like any of the jobs are big time consuming things to sort. Dent man -£50-100 Rear calipers, discs and pads £200ish Detailed £50-100 No brainer if you ask me
  5. Screws were rusted on mine so I go in via the plastic panel on the inside of the tailgate. Loads easier to do that than drill and remove rusty screws.
  6. Aren't they the two pipes you do away with when by passing the N249 valve? Does your dump valve take its vacuum from a T pipe on the fuel pressure regulator?
  7. I bit the bullet and ordered one. Tried a cheeky offer and got it for £70 delivered. Will see how we get on.
  8. Stick a 55w 4500k Xenon kit in. Although if I were going to upgrade any bulb it would be the normal dipped beam before anything else as fogs only project wide and low.
  9. I will be doing the same in the next month or so as my cat has a rattle. From what I understand they fit OK, you're advised to get some gaskets from TPS (or equivilent) as they don't seal very well and you may get an engine light from the second Lambda sensor which you can either space or have it mapped out. Only going by previous thread I have read on here.
  10. They are prone to craking internally. Oil pressure is higher than the water pressure which is why it finds its way into the coolant system. Had it happen a couple of times in my Golf Gti. Easy to swap out and then just flush your coolant system to get the oil residue out.
  11. New clutch and slave cylinder turned up this morning. Hate to let you guys down but I have gone with a full new Sachs dual mass set up as the deal I got on it could not be refused. Well worth a call to ECP if anyone is in two minds whether to go for a solid conversion or stick with a DMF.
  12. Going down this route next week. Do you also need the flywheel bolts from TPS? The item from ECP shows bolts https://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Skoda_Octavia_1.8_2002/p/car-parts/car-transmission/clutch-and-associated-parts/solid-flywheel-conversion-kit/?633780010&1&df9020a9bc4935a972dd7dc096659fb48f0023d0&000299
  13. Post a picture of the DV. If its a Forge splitter copy they can be adjusted and can cause chatter if tensioned too much. Most DV's will split apart and service with a bit of grease.
  14. You shouldn't hear the wastgate chatter unless its not fully dumping the charge. Sounds like either the piston sticking or you have a vacuum leak.
  15. This is what I did with mine. Down the A pillar, under the dash (where the excess wiring was stashed) and through a small opening into the fuse box where I piggied off one of the ingnition live fuses. Can't see any wire apart from an inch or twofrom the head lining to the unit.
  16. Checked the fronts a few months ago after spotting the thread you linked and mine had twice the amount of that in the OP. The amount of build up in there is crazy.
  17. I bought a Pioneer DAB head unit a few months ago and recently installed the glass mounted ariel on the front screen. It seemed to work OK after solving a couple of teething problems. Reception was OK most of the time but not great when going through a low signal area. Solved this by finding an option in the menus for a powered DAB ariel. Now have strong reception 98% of the time. Crystal clear radio.
  18. Mobile internet I only use about 2gb a month due to having wi fi everywhere. Wi fi is about 45-50gb a month Not heard of the Samsung programme. Do you have any links to it?
  19. Even though the Note 8 looks like a great phone I can't justify £60+ a month. I have a Note 4 and still love it. I don't want t change it but after three years the screen is starting to show burn marks, the OS is stuttering so could probably do with a factory reset and the battery is doing some weird things. Will probably opt for the S8 shortly but it doesnt come with the S Pen which I find really useful.
  20. Completely agree and the best £10 I have ever spent on a car as it totally transforms the front end. £4 on some black vinyl from B&Q and £6 on a new style badge. Thought it looked to much like a Rover 2/400 with the silver grille
  21. Haha not quite. My old Mini turbo would bake soot onto the exhaust and I couldn't be arsed with Autosol everytime I wanted a shiny exhaust and didn't want to use wire wool or similar on a new stainless exhaust. Thought to myself if DOT 3 can remove paint then it must work on soot. Couple of drops on a piece of kitchen roll and quick wipe and it was spotless. Took all of 15 seconds.
  22. Used sparingly DOT 3 works a treat on exhaust tips with very little effort.
