I'm trying to find out the same, look almost identical, and some adverts have 2013-2020 in their advert which makes you think they are the same, but then other places suggest they're different!

Yeah I know how an AC/Heat pump work, usually at low temps, below 0'C there's less moisture in the air anyway, and most dehumidifiers, fridge units, and heat pumps run a defrost cycle to get rid of ice build up. It was a few weeks ago that it started not working and and it was +10 or so then. The other responses have given some good leads, so I'll see where they take me.

My other half has a rapid, and the AC does work below 5'C, it dries the air making it demist much quicker.

It probably stopped working a week or so before taking it to the garage, I didn't notice anything much happen, only that the car took a little longer to demist than usual. I needed the car after the service as I was on out of hours call out for work, but they said to take it back when I wanted so they could investigate. I thought I'd investigate the web, and ask on here first to see if it was something I could diagnose or even fix first. I need to do all 4 discs and all the pads when the weather improves too but that's another story!

I had my 2014 Octavia Mk3 2.0TDI CR150 serviced at the dealers in Oswestry recently, and asked them to do an air con service at the same time. When I got the car back they said they couldn't do the air con as it wasn't working, so they couldn't re-gas it. I didn't get much more info as it was the Ford service front of house person and they're not as helpful as the Skoda chap. As far as I know if there is an issue, like it's low on gas it would turn itself off. So they can't re-gas it because it's not working, but it might not be working because it needs more gas! All the fuses are fine, the light still comes on when you press the AC button, I've not got it on eco or turned off in the settings, and there were no real symptoms. Any ideas? Thanks!

Yep, I like to get good mpg too (Octavia 2.0tdi cr150). I do a lot of rural driving and my commute is now on the flat in Shropshire so I can happily get 60mpg. Often driving across Wales I enjoy making progress, but sometimes if you get stuck in a queue behind a lorry with no hope of passing you can get a great mpg just from doing no more than 50mph, 78.9mpg has been my best from Welshpool across to Aberystwyth. I also record every fill up of fuel in a spreadsheet on my mobile to work out mpg, fuel cost per mile and monthly cost, which at the moment is incredibly low!

Idling at 1k revs suggests it's trying to run a dpf clean cycle. I'd get yourself an obd11 reader, a Bluetooth one if you have an Android phone, and get the vagDPF app, it should tell you the dpf condition, whether it's blocked etc and when it's doing a clean etc. If you see it's going to do a clean you can do a longer drive until it's finished. I drive round the block a couple of times before getting to work to let it finish if I notice it doing a clean.

Best is probably an Octavia as you don't need 4x4, and if you did an Octavia scout. 99% of SUV ownership is for fashion/poser reasons, most do nothing more challenging than mount a kerb at little princesses school gate. They're no more spacious, they're less economical. Only advantages are marginally better ground clearance, and easier to get in and out of you have mobility issues. PS. I'm being deliberately controversial 🙂

My other halfs Rapid 1.6tdi broke down nearby while on holiday, so got recovered to this garage as it was near our friends house. Unfortunately broke down on a Saturday afternoon, do no one in servicing, but a nice chap in sales said he'd pass on our details on the Monday morning. Diagnosed a faulty injector 1, but getting this info was hard when they fail repeatedly to phone back with info. I went in to discuss repair and as it was covered by the "fix" warranty we were told it should be covered by that. However we were also told it needed a brake fluid change and new wipers. I politely said that was rubbish as I'd had the brake fluid changed a couple of months prior and the wipers were about 3wks old! The senior service chap was not impressed with the mechanic and said he'd keep an eye on it himself. He was very knowledgeable and helpful and was good at answering my questions in good detail realising I was pretty knowledgeable about "the fix" and engines. We caught the train home leaving the car there and carried on our holiday in Wales in my Octavia. I phoned and was promised call backs on several occasions, which didn't happen. It ended up taking over a week for the repair. Although there was a little delay on the day it was supposed to be done as one mechanic crashed their own car on his way to work. They did eventually get it fixed over night when they were given a deadline. Fortunately we could cope with the delays and make out own arrangements, but they are hopeless at getting in touch when they say they will. And I don't think much to their attempts to make you pay for extra work!

You need to buy an obd plug too which you can get cheap off eBay, which plugs into the diagnostics socket. A Bluetooth one for an android phone, or if you are on iPhone you have to get a WiFi one I believe.

It looks like the pin type, but the matt greying plastic shaft with the end cap is part of the blade construction and is stuck on the metal pin of the wiper arm. Take the blade off and give the plastic pin a pull and twist.

I bought my 2.0tdi Octavia mk3 elegance (same spec as an SEL apparently) as a 2.5yr old car, it's been great, DPF should according to % on VagDPF last until 230,000 miles. I've never had an issue with regens, the car does its thing and it's no problem. 55-60mpg easily, up to 70mpg a couple of times. Plenty of power, plenty of space, and I love it.

How did you come to Michelin energy savers based on all the comments? They weren't mentioned at all that I can see!!! I had some and didn't rate the any better than the Avon energy savers that they used to make at half the price. The only decent energy savers I have ever used are from continental. A lot of the cross climate tyres have the same or only fractionally different rolling resistance as the energy savers! How much time do you spend looking at tread pattern? It does the job excellently and is the most recommended tyre in this thread!

Michelin cross climates all the way. Last ages and perform great in the dry, wet, cold, snow. I recommend them to anyone that asks now and work are starting to use them on their fleet now too.

Yeah thats not allowed over here in the UK. Depends then on your conscience whether you are happy to drive a car pumping out polluting particulates or not!

No chance you can fix that with a quick blast! Will either need taking to a cleaner or a new dpf. If you go for a cleaning service it would be great to hear how it goes. I calculated mine should hit 100% at 231,000 miles so fits with how long yours has lasted.

I used a Powerline adapter to provide WiFi in a different building to the router on a remote island that was powered by solar charged batteries and a generator and it seemed to work pretty well. It was a terribly slow microwave link so can't vouch for the speed but it seemed to be reliable!

I can second using miller's, used it in my old Mégane and it was still going lovely at 230,000 miles. I followed the instructions and used it most times I filled up. Go for a 3rd gear blast to clear out soot, a few short blasts should do it, and you should see the improvement in the rear view mirror!

On the Octavia mk3 section someone had an LED light bar added to the front grill, so shouldn't be too difficult to do the same and have it wired in. How about going for landrover G4 orange, put on a chunky roof rack with spotlights on it, spare wheel on the roof, a shovel strapped to the side. Would be unique

You could always use the accelerator and press the speed reset. The Volvo I sometimes drive does 5mph increments and it's so flippin annoying!

If they are sensor faults then you need to fix those before worrying about whether it is doing a regen surely. "Thrashing it" just creates more soot.

Might be amazing, but also illegal because they don't match type approval with UNECE testing. They claim to be 150% which is the same as the osram night breaker laser next generation bulbs claim to be too.
