  1. I have to say the service I had from Skoda UK, and my local dealer, when I had an ongoing problem with an Octavia was fantastic. Couldn't have done more.
  2. As with ruffday, I used the same sized winter tyres, and the mpg is virtually identical. If anything, very slightly down.
  3. My 09 plate 2.0pd uses about 2-3 litres between services (19k), it's done about 65k, and the oil consumption does seem to be dropping a bit now. Judging by the smoke cloud when I properly press the loud(er) pedal, that's where the extra oil is going
  4. Wow, that really does sound like a siren. Mine whistles a bit, but nothing like that. Good news. Thanks for posting the video
  5. Perhaps it's the alcohol in the screen wash that attracts them. Ah well, at least he died in a stupor, hopefully happy..... :( there's a rat in my engine what am I gonna do? there's a rat in my engine what am I gonna do? I'm gonna fix dat rat, that's what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna fix dat rat.....
  6. I had a cambelt go on a Ford. I will NEVER skimp on replacement again :'(
  7. Just got 720 on one tank. Mind you, it's a remapped 2.0 diesel Hope you enjoyed the South of France - we love it down there, but you're right it's a long way. Did you see the Millau Bridge? Amazing.
  8. Well you learn something everyday - it's also available on MW in some areas - London 720; Plymouth 774; Hayle (Cornwall) 756; Newcastle 603; Carlisle 1495; Aberdeen 1449; Enniskillen 774; Derry 720; Glasgow 720. Wish my radio had LW though.....
  9. No long wave on Bolero unfortunately. I have a portable DAB that I plug in. Not perfect, but better than nothing.
  10. That's impressive 240k miles - you must spend your life on motorways! No major faults in that time? Out of interest is it variable or fixed service? Just goes to show a decent remap should not adversely affect wear and tear I suppose.
  11. How does the price of Shell Fuel Save compare to, say, supermarket diesel? I've not seen any in my area so have no idea. For what it's worth, I've done over 600k miles in my last five cars, and always used Tesco / Asda fuel, and not had any issues. Plus, I've never noticed any noticeable difference - sound, performance or mpg, when I've occasionally tried 'premium' fuels.
  12. They have some for about a fiver I think. But to be honest, I've never used them. Done a lot of driving in France and never had a problem. I just have a bulb kit, triangle and hi-vis.
  13. I got one from Amazon a couple of weeks ago, only a couple of quid. It does the job: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Metro-HG-079-00-Universal-Emergency/dp/B0012KQNY4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1306482010&sr=8-1
  14. Done about 800 miles with my map now and the good news is MPG is up 8-10% Driving it normally, the difference is subtle - although power delivery is definitely smoother, less of a lump of torque. However, when you give some boot - that's when you notice the big difference - extra power, and for longer in the rev range. It's true what people say - you just drive with a stupid grin Should have done it ages ago. If you're toying with the idea - I say go for it, esp. for a diesel. Seems like they were built for a remap.
  15. I've got my performance map! No time to try it today, but I'm out and about the rest of the week so I'll give it a blast then. Thanks to Ben and to Opentoideas for all their work setting this group buy up, and rolling out the remaps - computer troubles and all. Much appreciated Chaps,
