  1. Hi Robjon, Thanks for that, that was the post I saw which made me think the dealership wasn't being entirely honest. Your right. I physically went round to All Electric in Kings Heath and they said they'd have to send it to a body shop to get the holes drilled. He told me that alone would be £450. I must have mug written on my forehead. Fab advice regarding Sprint Autos. I'll give them a ring tomorrow and see what they say. I really don't feel like giving Skoda any work the way they treated me. Cheers.
  2. Thanks for the replies Grampa and Chris. Aren't they swines! It's such a lot of money to be trying get out of someone. I don't know what it is about service departments of car dealerships, but I've had loads more poor experiences from them than good, in fact only one good one I can remember from a Volvo dealership. I'll go back to them and ask about a print off of the book price. I did email Skoda UK, but got a reply saying they don't discuss technical questions and to contact my local dealership. I then phoned Redditch and spoke to a guy who quoted that price. I questioned him on the receiving bolts already welded on under the roof skin and he told me that not every Roomster had the bolts as there was two production lines in the factory. One for regular Roomsters with no bolts and one for Roomsters that had been ordered with roof rails as an option. I then emailed the dealership and got two replies from two different members of staff, both saying the headlining needs to come out and one quoting me £394 and the other £369.60 (excluding the rails themselves of course).
  3. Hello All, I'm looking to buy a Roomster, but due to my circumstances it has to have roof rails. I've found that this limits my choice a lot as most don't have them. I've looked on this forum and Google generally for information on retro-fits, but have come to a dead end. From what I've read it is possible to drill four holes in the roof with a template and fit them and not have to take the roof lining out to do so, in fact I think someone on here had done it. However, I've spoken to Skoda Kings Heath and Skoda Redditch (I'm from Birmingham) about doing the work and both say the headlining needs to be removed and the whole job costs around £650 due to the labour costs of doing just that. I also contacted a couple of independent VAG specialists who both said they wouldn't touch a job like that. Are Skoda telling me fibs? Does the headlining need to be removed? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers, Michael.
  4. Hello all Currently own a small Sear Arosa, but looking to upgrade to a Roomster due to new dog and baby in 6 months. I'll be posting for advice. Thanks in advance. Michael.
