  1. I bought a second hand replacement from ApertureS and it is working just fine so far.
  2. This is a picture of mine - which I need to order a replacement for... It is a different part number (and shape) than I thought I needed. So I'm glad I took it out to have a look.
  3. My 2017 1.4 TSI estate just started doing this. Pressing the opening switch in the tailgate does nothing. If I press and hold down the middle button (boot unlock/open) on the key, it releases the boot latch so that I can open it. It seems to occasionally work, but most of the time it does not. So I suspect the connector on the back might have come a bit loose after years of opening and closing the boot. Although it is a very low mileage car. So maybe it's just age on the switch. I may try to replace the switch; or at least re-insert the connector if I can get the inner part of the tailgate panel to get to the switch from the inside.
  4. There are alot of interesting posts on sound insulation. Here is a view from me having just changed from a 2014 Golf Estate 2.0TDI GT (17" wheels) to a pre-FL 2017 Octavia estate 1.4TSI SE Sport (with 18" wheels). Edit -> both are 6 speed manual transmission When stationary with the engine running, the Octavia is quieter (engine wise). When stationary with engine off (eg auto stop/start at traffic lights), more noise gets into the cabin in the Octavia. When on the motoway, the Octavia is louder; from road noise. It could be the 18"s, but I'm not convinced that is the main reason. So cabin insulation on the Golf was certainly better than the Octavia.
  5. The electronics are already built-in for Smartlink (on a 66 plate), it just needs to be activated by the dealer for some££. I just had my Smartlink enabled on my 66 plate to work with my Android phone with AndroidAuto. I am still playing with it to get the apps to work well. There are things that are a little frustrating. One is that you have to plug the phone in. Two the Android Auto apps (and probably CarPlay) do not use the little 'Driver infor' screen between the Speedo and Rev Counter. When you just see "Android Auto" displayed as one of the screens when you scroll through on the Driver Info screen. I quite like seeing the extra info from built-in Skoda Sat Nav and Media player. You wont get that with SmartLink unfortunately. But the ability to use google voice control (with the steering wheel button) is very nice. With Android Auto, if you have Amazon Music, Spotify, Deezer, or Google Play accounts, you can say "listen to ..." and it goes and finds 'stuff' and plays it. This is what I am messing about with right now.
  6. Even though I have no intention of going for a custom exhaust, it would be nice to see some pictures of your once you've had it done. This reminds me of a local exhaust place where I grew up in the States called "Glenn's Muffler Shop" that custom bent and fitted whole exhaust systems nearly 'while you wait' AND they were much much cheaper than going to 'big chain' places that wouldn't bend anything. Glenn's had a smallish selection of performance silencers but they were happy to fit what you brought to them as well. There must be similar places 'round here somewhere.
  7. This is my very unsexy stock 1.4TSI exhaust on my SE Sport model. The doesn't look easy to mod it (without cutting and welding) to turn this in to something 'nice'. Thoughts?
  8. I imagine it probably won't be too long before you would be able to buy a black grille surround for the FL model if you don't want the rest of the Black pack. You don't have to get it from Superskoda. Any UK dealer can sell you a pre-FL black one. That's how I got mine.
  9. Ahh. I just found pics on t'interent of grey and black versions. There aren't any 'good' pictures of cars with the grey version. Yours is the best of what I saw. I think they grey ones you have look nicer than the black version. Just my opinion. But Nice!
  10. These look great! Are they grey on all but the outermost part; or is it just the light? It kinda makes me wish I hadn't upgraded to the Alaris 18s (on my non-VRS) and done an aftermarket upgrade like these. I may put some lower springs on mine at some point. I think the height of your looks fine really; although is it a touch higher at the front than the back?
  11. Thanks. I crawled around under my non-VRS last weekend and saw that there are a lot of plastic tubes and things running around the currently unused side; right where the 2nd muffler and exhaust pipes would need to be. It is also missing all the heat shield on that side. It doesn't look possible to me; at least not without re-routing all those pipes. I am not going to do that!
