  1. Thanks, I shall investigate the cost of getting the injectors checked.
  2. Even if it is only once every three or four days?
  3. Hi, I have an Octavia Scout, 58 plate, and frequently on starting, it issues quite a lot of white smoke from the exhaust. I've searched through this forum and it appears that this might be the DPF cleaning cycle. However, it does seem rather frequent for that. I used to have a persistent slight misfire around 2000 revs, but since I cleaned the EGR valve, it has almost gone away. I am not sure if the two are related. Does anyone have any advice? Cheers
  4. Thanks for that, adamal. It confirms what I suspected, that, despite the Phone button and the various bluetooth options in the menus and references to BT in the manuals, it is not actually fitted.
  5. What does it look like? I've looked under the seat and there's nothing obvious.
  6. Hi, I've just bought a 58 plate Scout, which is fitted with the Bolero music system. Although it has a button marked "Phone", it does nothing except mute the sound. There is an option under "Media" for BT Audio, but it is greyed out. When I set my mobile (Moto G4) to discover it detects no bluetooth. How can I tell whether the car is fitted with bluetooth?
  7. Just checked and the immobiliser light is on, so it looks like that's the problem.
  8. Hi, I left the doors open today because I'd noticed the carpets were damp and then forgot I'd done it with the result that the battery got run down. When I tried to start the engine, it turned over sluggishly and wouldn't fire. I tried jumping it from another car but then there was nothing, no clicking from the solenoid, nothing from the starter motor. Could this be the same thing?
  9. BTW, how much travel should there be on the actuator? I ended up with about 10mm, but I see that some contributers have said that they got more than 20mm. The actuator was definitely going all the way down, but there wasn't such a definite stop when I tried pulling it up.
  10. Another happy customer of the Mr Muscle process and thanks to Lofty for sharing the knowledge. I took the car out for a test run and to warm it up before redlining it and it is a transformed beast. Mind you, actually getting the EGR pipe off was a right ******. The nuts on the manifold end were seized solid and someone had obviously tried in the past to take them off as they had lost those annoying corners that detract from the aesthetically pleasing round shape. I had to carefully grind them with a mini grinder whilst trying not to damage the studs, then chisel off the remains. It took hours. The allen bolts that held the EGR end on were also very stiff, but I found that shortening the short arm of an allen key meant that I could get more force on them without them trying to twist out of the head of the bolt. If you can get the rear one off, it is possible to get a thinned down and shortened allen key into the "unget-atable" allen bolt that holds the EGR on and remove EGR and pipe together. Taking off the EGR also has the advantage that it gives you an opportunity to clean all the clag out of that, too.
  11. Thanks for that. Looks like a trip to my local friendly main dealer is in order, but now I know what to ask for, and if I'm given the wrong part.
  12. You can just buy a new stalk: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Octavia-control-switch-mirror-remote-control-button-316-/162124225490?hash=item25bf5b5bd2:g:4dMAAOSwQItT~l-w but the previous idiot, sorry, owner, must have thrown the knob away when it broke off mine.
  13. Hi, I have the exact same problem. Perhaps this time someone will have the answer, or did you manage to find a workaround?
