  1. £160 to diagnose and replace boot handle...microswitch had indeed failed.
  2. Nothing magic about it I'm afraid. Bootlid almost decapitated me when it closed by itself for the first time...I was loading the weekly shop at the time! As much as I like being able to walk away from the car and pressing the remote to close the boot my Mrs doesn't appreciate being bashed on the head by the bootlid closing itself when she's chucking the shopping in the boot!
  3. My electric bootlid has a mind of its own! The handle on the bootlid does nothing so I have to press the remote button twice for it to open, and it closes itself after 15 second or when another door is opened/closed. I can even close it via the remote control button! The button in the centre console releases the bootlock but I have to open another door for the boot to lift itself. It was fine until the bootlid stopped short and I had to push it closed myself-nothing unusual there. Any suggestions? I'm thinking microswitch in the handle perhaps. Cheers, stay safe.
  4. Good question! When I contacted the insurers they said that the car had multiple sensors and a heated element in its screen (they could tell from the VIN), however the fitter says the smashed screen isn't heated! Buttons are present on the dash which I had always assumed were for the front heated screen, so I'll see what the fitter finds once he has the old screen out. Previous owner had car for 10 months-maybe screen has already been replaced with a lesser specced on? I don't think I have a camera in the screen. I'll speak with the fitter now; thanks for bringing it to my attention!
  5. Just had rear disks and pads replaced by main dealer at 38,000 miles. A bit premature in my opinion as most of my journeys are dual carriageway. can't argue really though as car has performed faultlessly for every one of those miles.
  6. Some serious 'awning envy' in our house this morning! Man with van looks like he knows his stuff too so I'm hopeful all goes well. New screen should be in place within a couple of hours.
  7. This is what happens when a pidgeon hits your screen at speed! Serves me right for being in a hurry. Screen is heated and has sensors for wipers and lights. Only 5 day turnaround by Autoglass, hopefully the fitting will be straightforward. Knowing my luck I'll pick up a chip within the first month!
  8. I have a 2016 190 SE L estate, manual, running Pirelli P7s on 19" wheels. 32,000 miles, averaging 49.8 mpg over the last 14,000 miles (since being serviced in August). The worst I've had was 41mpg, 5 adults, roofbox, and a boot full of camping gear on a 19hour non stop blast to Barcelona from North Wales-1200 miles. We didn't hang about either! The best I've had was 69.9 mpg on my 30 mile commute home on the A55...sat at 50mph behind a HGV. I always keep it in eco mode. A superb car in every sense, I would only swap it for a 190 dsg 4x4 because I do struggle occasionaly with wheelspin in 1st and 2nd.
  9. Pirrelli P7 cinturato on my 2016 190 SE L estate with 19" alloys.
  10. Way above my head sorry! Unless you're referring to the reg no? LLYFR is the welsh word for book...my wife is an author and this was a gift when her first set of books was published (unfortunately L1 wasn't avalilable). Haven't been to prison yet!
  11. Just fitted a full set of genuine mudflaps to my 2016 Superb estate, £48 from ebay, my 12 year old son fitted them!! Should help keep the car cleaner for longer! Serves me right for choosing Moon White!!!
  12. Just fitted to my 2016 SE L Executive 190 estate. £49 from rearguards.co.uk Easy to fit, looks like it came that way from the factory. Used masking tape as a locating guide, then fastened it in place with the 3m tape supplied. Job done!
  13. Hi, Collected the car Friday 5pm. First impressions are very positive. Quick, spacious, lots of toys. Previous owner kept it for just 6000 miles so I hope it hasn't got an issue...30 day/1000 mile exchange policy in case it's not ok. Like the whole 'driven by something different' thing that Skoda has at the moment, also the fact that the estate seems to win awards must count for something! Funny how you see more Skodas once you've bought one!!! Regards, Gwyn
  14. Hi everyone, Just bought my first ever Skoda and I couldn't be happier! It's a March 2016 Superb SE L estate with the 190 engine and manual gearbox. Panoramic roof, 19" alloys, Canton stereo...the list goes on. It's going to be a brilliant family car/workhorse...it's certainly a 'brisk Skoda!' Got to praise the dealer-Mitchell Skoda in Chester. They couldn't have been more helpful. MPG and reliabilty are my priorities, closely followed by comfort and practicality. It will also be called upon to tow a six berth twin axle caravan from time to time, so I'll keep you posted as to how I get on. Happy motoring! Gwyn
