  1. I’m considering returning to Škoda ownership and have looked at a 2020 Superb SE L DSG 2.0tsi 190ps car with Columbus, 19” alloys, interior LED pack and heated and ventilated seats. Car has covered 14,000 miles. Price is £25,000 from a main dealer. Is this a reasonable price for this car and are there any issues I should be aware of?
  2. I had been considering a Fabia Monte Carlo for my next car but after visiting my local Skoda dealer I was shocked to discover the basic spec is so poor. Functions like cruise which should be standard these days are all extra cost. Now looking at Seat who offer much more standard equipment spec on the Ibiza for a similar price.
  3. I’ve been considering buying a 2021 SE L First Edition but I’ve read a worrying number of reports regarding this issue which are causing me to reconsider.
  4. The garage replaced a second sensor and also performed a forced regen on the car. They dropped the sump down and double checked everything was clean and clear of sludge. So far it’s been running ok for 3 days, hopefully it continues to do so. No more errors showing when I scan the car now.
  5. A new sensor cured the low pressure error and I got the car back. Sadly a new error has now materialised after a day of using the car so I’ll have the garage look at it tomorrow. The coil light started to flash while I was on the motorway but no limp mode or loss of power. Switching off the engine and restarting turned off the coil flashing light but I temporarily had a message saying Start/Stop error. I ran a scan and found this result: Trouble codes: P200200 - Particulate Trap Bank 1 Efficiency Below Threshold Intermittent Date: 2020-01-04 21:33:50 Mileage: 153399 km Priority: 2 Malfunction frequency counter: 7 Unlearning counter: 255 Engine speed: 2250.50 1/min Normed load value: 23.1 % Vehicle speed: 115 km/h Coolant temperature: 89 °C Intake air temperature: 19 °C Ambient air pressure: 990 mbar Voltage terminal 30: 13.171 V Dynamic environmental data: 209628449400A7447901ED44A4000044A300004454005A208CFE9C208B077A
  6. New turbo has been fitted but still getting a low oil pressure warning. Unfortunately at this time of year it’s taking longer to fix due to festive holidays. Hopefully fixed fully tomorrow. The garage will try a new sensor to see if that’s the issue or I’ll maybe ask them to check the sump oil pick-up to see if that’s blocked. They had suggested running a second engine flush.
  7. These were the only faults to show after the oil pressure low message appeared.
  8. No fault codes with the turbo, the only codes related to the low oil pressure. The car has had the odd moment of hesitation/stutter while accelerating in low gears over the last few weeks which I’d dismissed as possible dirty fuel. In the days immediately before the smoke appeared I’d thought the car felt down on power but not in a way that was completely obvious and no errors were shown. I’d occasionally thought I needed to drop a gear at times when I wouldn’t usually or that the car was taking slightly longer to accelerate than it usually would. The car has done 96,000 miles.
  9. My 2015 1.6 diesel has apparently suffered a turbo failure. Earlier this week I experienced lots of blue smoke from the exhaust shortly after starting from cold, this cleared away within 5 minutes of A road driving. Unfortunately it happened again the following day and this time the smoke did clear away but a ‘Oil Pressure Stop’ warning appeared on the dash. A local garage has looked at the car and have diagnosed the turbo to be the problem. I’ve been quoted £1300 to supply and fit a new one as I’m told the labour hours are high. Is this a typical price for this issue to be repaired? I’ve also had a look online and do see some places offer me cashback if I send them my old turbo in exchange for a new one.
  10. My 15 plate Octavia SE has developed a issue with the rocker switch for the interior roof lights. It feels like the switch floats around now rather than actually switching. Placing the switch in the on and middle positions has no effect and the lights remain off and will not activate when the doors are open. I can activate the reading lights individually with the individual switches for each one. Any ideas if this is a easy fix or not, I did remove the covers to have a look but cannot see what is actually wrong with the switch or if it’s a easy part to replace. I demonstrate the switch movement from inside of the circuit board in this video. https://youtu.be/vt4hsvUAitc
  11. I don’t think you’ll have any issues achieving 23,000 miles from them. I’ll be about there with my tyres when they get replaced and my car is often full of adult passengers with heavy suitcases on town roads.
  12. They are fitted on a private hire car so lots of town driving over speed bumps and also regular motorway miles too. Usually cover 120-150 miles per day.
  13. Rapidly approaching the wear indicators, I’d say under 2mm now but above 1.6mm What distance do Michelin claim is possible?
  14. I’ve driven 22,000 miles on my Crossclimate tyres on the front wheels and they are now needing replaced. I’m happy with the wear and in the snow earlier this year they were fantastic.
  15. Contact photos are now supported with iOS 11, I had to resave my quick dial numbers to the Amundsen to get the photos to show there. I only noticed it had updated when a photo showed during a incoming call.
  16. Is the firmware update mentioned here only for the Bolero or will it work on the Amundsen mib2? The thread title mentions the Amundsen but I notice a few of the replies reference the Bolero.
  17. I had my Amundsen updated at my local Skoda garage yesterday, now running software 0245, I'm assuming that's the most recent for my H24 unit. I now see much more information when I look at the version numbers screen. USB, Bluetooth etc all now have version entries on this screen.
  18. I had hoped to download the updated maps but the download link does not work and I receive a error message on the Skoda update site. Edit: Problem solved, the link obviously doesn't like Macs, working on my Windows PC.
  19. I needed standard size blade fuses in my Octavia 3.
  20. Did anyone else install the updated firmware and if so did you encounter any issues with fault messages afterwards?
  21. Ever since buying my Octavia I've had a issue with the rear numberplate lights constantly coming loose and falling out while driving. Are these meant to clip in securely as I do not see any way for them to stay in position? I've pushed them back in and then slide them over as described in the manual but they continue to fall out.
  22. You may notice a strong burning smell too during the regen which is nothing to worry about.
  23. In all diesel vehicles I've always turned the key to position 1 and waited for the glow light to turn off and then immediately turned the key to position 2 to start the ignition. Never had any issues or long delays when doing this.
  24. I use my Octavia for the same purpose and this happens fairly regularly too, nothing to be worried about as it's only the DPF regen. My older Mk2 Octavia was exactly the same.
  25. I see these options when I press the Media button and select BT Audio within the source selection. Also be sure and select bluetooth audio in the setup menu. https://youtu.be/i4RpmTGez-o
