  1. Sounds like MB C180 & 200 Kompressor (M271 - the Nissan motor) with single row cam-chains as far as warranty claims go... :( Cheers, Graham
  2. Some stunning stitched photos! I haven't digitised any from my 6x17, just happy to look at the slides. I do have a number from the X-pan which I'll have to dig out, but having replaced that with a Leica M8 I don't do much "letterbox" photography now.
  3. Tempted to take my Ferrari Giallo Fly Morgan 4/4 along It's very yellow...
  4. I'm in Cheltenham. Commute to Ashchurch. No Skoda at present though... Working on that last bit!
  5. Great colour, really like that
  6. That'll be why it's familiar then! I have been to the base several times. Also taken a group of Morgan owners over the top from Loch Lomond side. Nice twisty road with some great views One of my Sister's Uni friends (we're talking 1980s here ) lives at the top end of the Loch near the school. Enjoy your new car. Cheers, Graham
  7. Looks very tidy Great scenery, which looks vaguely familiar, but I'm probably wide of the mark...
  8. Thanks gents. Love photography, been at it since age 10 or thereabouts. Not that I'm much good at it! Don't have an "artists" eye... As for the car collection, well LR and Morgan have been in the blood for a loooooong time. Unfortunately the little MB, while a nice car, is from the GM era - Google "C180k cam chain" for a clue as to why it has to go. Fancy a Yeti which could double as a backup 4x4, but still too new for my budget, so to save any more knee issues Roomster has to be next choice.
  9. Present "statements" seem to focus on pre-Euro 4. I know the Jag X-Type diesel, pre-DPF, meets Euro 4 and there must be a lot of diesels that meet that standard. I have little intention of driving my Defender 90 in town centres As per usual with this kind of thing, there is little joined up thinking and London's present plans are only paying lip service to the "diesel pollution problem" - i.e. slap an extra charge on ££ As of yesterday, might be job hunting again and a new work location may well dictate the MB's replacement car/engine type. I don't particularly fancy a fortnightly commute to the other side of Glasgow.
  10. Thanks Robjon. I will keep an eye open for one. Only worry is under engineered cam chain - a problem with my old MINI Clubman Cooper 1.6D (and my present MB) though I understand the problem was rectified later in the production run.
  11. Thanks gents. I had a Polo with 1.4TD diesel - assume same engine? Cracking little car, but exacerbated a back problem (caused by a Triumph Spitfire). Only problem was the seat height adjustment would drop on every entry/exit. DMF - something else I hate in modern motors
  12. I'm presently looking at replacing my MB coupe with a Roomster (or possibly Fabia Estate, but we'll leave that for the present). I prefer the way diesel engines drive, however, having owned one modern oil burner with a DPF (Volvo C30 1.6D) I'd like to find something pre-DPF era. So, can anyone tell me when DPFs became standard fit to Skoda diesels - the Roomster in particular? Locally I have a choice of a 1.9 or a 1.4 petrol... Thanks, Graham
  13. Makes a change from Hello Never owned a Skoda, but presently looking for a Roomster or possibly a Fabia. Located Cheltenham. I marshal and cover hill Control at Prescott Hill Climb. Mostly owned Land Rover products (and m/c) for the last 40+ years of driving, but gave up the 2 wheelers 7 years ago. Got into Morgans some 14 years ago, but only owned for 11 years. Not a fan of modern cars - too much electronics, but to be practical have to own one, though the present '04 Mercedes Coupe is going before it costs much more to keep on the road. Hobbies: amateur radio, photography (mostly landscape/architecture), Morgans, Land Rovers and some motorsport support Ex Merchant Navy Radio Officer, now in IT hardware... I think that covers the basics. Cheers, Graham
