Hi all, The air con fan that sits in the engine bay next to the normal radiator fan has not worked for ages. Two dealers have now had a look but have not yet bottomed it. First I was told it would come on above 4 deg, this was in winter but now it's summer at 18 deg, still no fan. Today it's been re-gassed, still no fan and they didn't know why. Anyone got any welcome ideas? Mark :confused:

Thanks for all the advice guys, Car has 83,000 on now, it's just been serviced (80k) and the oil is a little high on the dip stick. This lumpy start seems to go away if the temperature rises above 5 - 7 deg. I know most diesels put out some smoke when starting from cold but this just seems to be tied to the lumpy initial start from cold. If it where the valve seals wouldn't there be a belch of blue smoke after over run of the engine?, any way it's booked in to a dealers in a week so hopefully all will be revealed

Since the cold weather set in the Superb (1.9TDI 130) seems rather reluctant to start in the mornings and if it's been stood all day. I'm leaving the ignition till the glow plugs light extinguishes but it is still very lumpy for around the first five seconds and there seems to be a lot of blue smoke. After this period the engine runs perfect. Anyone have any ideas?, new glow plugs required :confused: or is it something else Mark

Done the same also today, the car is quite simply quality, Skoda have done a top job on this one. Rear room is just massive, twindoor is just so unique, boot space vast. I can really see this car selling not just business to, it just crushes Mondeo/Vectra. Ford/Vauxhall must be worried with this.

I personally think Skoda are being a bit cheeky with their pricing of the new Superb, if I compare my 1.9 130 Comfort to the 2.0 PD SE there are one or two extras missing which are now pay for items, auto dimming mirror, rain sensor wipers, floor mats and the new Superb is £1,500 more expensive. When you take a step back the old version is a really good spec car, I do feel let down by Skoda and I think this will only get worse the more popular they become and they will get more popular because only a fool can knock their product these days.

James, may thanks for that although my company goes through Arval Phh so I believe it's actually owened by Arval and we just pay a monthly fee. Do you happen to know what the current Superb 1.9 Comfort against the new 2.0 TDi SE is. Mark

Hi James, I take it you work at a Skoda dealership, is there anyway you can find out how the monthly rental for the new Superb SE 2.0 140 bhp manual compares to the old 1.9 130 bhp comfort as this will dictate whether my company will allow this car on to its list of "can have". I just hope is roughly the same if it is then it's a Superb for me again !. Cheers Mark

Car now sorted, dealers had it for two weeks but they finally got it. Replaced both top arms on the suspension set up, noise completely gone plus the car feels so much more together on that near side, just like new again.

That sounds as though it's a standard answer from skoda then, " there's nothing wrong". One of my mates use to work at this particular dealer, he's a good mechanic, he's been out with me and says there is something definately wrong. He suggests that it is the large radius arm that attaches it's self to the sub frame under where the passenger foot well is but getting the dealers to sort it may prove difficult now they employ donkeys for mechanics, you've only got to here this to know something's not right.

The knocking is from the passenger side but you can feel something through the floor on really bad pot holes, noise is terrible when on full right hand lock and slowly moving on rutted ground.:confused:

Hi all, around a year and a half ago I had the local dealers all over the front near side suspension trying to find a knocking noise. They did say they heard the noise but could never pin point it. Anyway after six weeks of being in the garage they seemed to solve ish it. Now all of a sudden it's back but far worse. It sounds like something is either broke or badly worn. Upon another inspection again they say they can hear it but have checked all the joints and find no obvious damage or wear. The knocking noise is terrible when on uneven ground and the car just free wheeling, unusually though if a drive over the same ground when the car is actually pulling there is little if or no knocking at all?. Anybody have any ideas, drive shafts, cv ??. :confused: Regards Mark

Hi All, Quick question on the parking sensors. When I engage reverse I get the normal bleeping sound, but now there is a more audible noise that continues to sound for about 2 second duration with around a 5 second gap between. This carries on until reverse gear is deselected. Anyone any ideas?. Car is up for service and has been for around 2000 miles, are they connected?, it's not the service reminder, that's already had it's bleep before I move. Thanks Mark

Hi, still having front suspension problems, knocking with a very noisy shock absorber, it just does'nt like rough ground at all. All the dealer says "it's normal" but it never used to make this noise. Thanks for your sugestion but I fear it'll have to be a dealer it's a lease car (Phh Arval).

Hmm, this does sound familiar, with the knock I'm sure that on certain roads the car does seem to wander a bit although I'm putting this down to the fact that the tyres are down at the legal at the moment and there's a lot more surface contact so pulling the wheels on any road blemish, I'll be changing them tomorrow so that may rule out the front arms, or am I loosing it!! ?.

Thanks for that, dealer seems to have or said they have replaced or checked out most parts of the suspension but they never mentioned anything regarding the track control arms (adue you mean the track rod ends? on the end of the stearing arms?, sorry not very car friendly under neath). I know it's difficult to tell on the ramps but did you discover anyway of proving this problem before I go and hit them with this line of investigation. All I get from dealer is "it's within Skodas specification, it's safe sir". That does'nt cut much ice with me spending most of the time on motorways, that central barrier seems quite solid to me, plus all the other traffic!!. Regards Mark

Hi all, had my superb (1.9 TDi 130 comfort) now for almost two years, after 13,000 miles suddenly developed a suspension knock over rough ground. Sounds as though something is lose or a shocker is on it's way out. It's been in and out of dealers numerous times they say they can't find anything wrong but do admit there is a noise there. They even swapped wheels to the standard ones (16") and said it went away, then came back when they put mine back on (17" solid)!!!!.I've noticed noise seems to disappear if braking on the said ground (they agree), any ideas or simular would be helpful, car is great apart from that but dealer in Sheffield let it and me down badly. It's not the kind of problem I want when flying down motorways every day. Cheers Mark
