  1. This morning I ordered up genuine VAG filters from The Skoda Shop / Horton Skoda With their current free delivery offer its only cost my £35 for the air and pollen filters delivered to my door, and I've got an email saying I'll have them tomorrow. For that price and service it's a no brainer
  2. That's great, thanks I've managed to find the part number for the air filter: 5Q0129620B Regarding K&N or any other aftermarket 'performance' filter, I'm not really interested in going down that route on this car. There is no real world performance increase in just replacing the filter element, and cleaning them then re-oiling correctly is a pain. Not enough oil and too much crap will pass straight through it, oil it too much and oil will pass through coating and affecting the sensors in the inlet tract.
  3. Hi, Does anybody know the Skoda part numbers for the air and pollen filters for a 2013 petrol VRS? Cheers
  4. Quick question for those who have had it done at a dealership, or found a dealer who will do it. Who have you approached at the dealership when you enquire? Service or parts desk?
  5. It being a diesel isn't the problem,I got the same reply when enquiring about getting it retrofitted to my 2013 TSI VRS. The problem as far as I can tell is a case of computer says no (or in this case Skoda UK) Cruise (as far as I can recall) wasn't available on the early mk3 VRS from the factory. The retrofit kits that Skoda sell aren't intended for the VRS models so when the dealers double check with Skoda UK which is the correct kit, SUK come back with "neither" Yes, as proven on here, they work, but I can only imagine that Skoda haven't officially tested the retrofit kits with cars with the combination of on board computer and MFSW, therefore would't officially state it's compatible. So yes it does work, but if the dealer you approach hasn't personally carried out the retrofit and ask Skoda UK which kit to fit, the the answer will be "sorry it can't be done/we can't do it" As frustrating as it is, I can understand the dealers stance. Image: customer asks you to retrofit cruise so you ask Skoda UK for confirmation on which of the 2 retrofit kits you fit. SUK come back and say neither are supported. Customer then says nah, ignore them it does, plenty people on the tinterweb say so. So dealer fits it and all seems OK, customer is happy. Then a fault occurs with the cruise and you have a bad crash. Investigators check who fitted the officially unsupported cruise control..... Obviously this is extremely unlikely and absolute worst case scenario but not all dealers will be prepared to take the risk. The part numbes for the retrofit stalks that Skoda sell and people on here have had fitted are 3T0054690A and 3T0054690A, but according to the following they aren't suitable for cars with MFSW: https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.volkswagenbutikken.no/wcsstore/ExtendedSitesCatalogAssetStore/SorensoDocuments/Cruise_control_overview_2_2013_pdf.pdf&ved=0ahUKEwjvpZb2rP3WAhXJrRoKHeT6AZoQFghSMAo&usg=AOvVaw3jpK7UGdkTju7jCMpI11v_
  6. Yep, that's the same reason the Dealership in Newcastle gave me when I enquired. It would appear that the retrofit isn't officially supported by Skoda UK on cars with a MFSW, even though it been proven many times that it can be done.
  7. Thr 320d is BMWs mid range diesel engine to be fair. The 316 and 318 being below it. I don't get the general 320d engine hate, it's a better package then most mainstream manufacturers put in their "performance" models. If Skoda/Ford/Mazda/whoever stuck the 320d engine and drivetrain in one of their cars everyone would rave about it.
  8. You're over-thinking it. Just get them and they'll offer a big improvement in noise, grip, and driving characteristics on what you currently have fitted.
  9. Fair enough, I just don't understand how some people have so little interest or care about the only part of thier car that has contact with the road. All your current tyres have varying noise ratings of between 70-73db. The Dunlop BluResponse are 67db
  10. Sorry, but why on earth did you buy a used approved car with those tyres on it? To me that tells me everything I need to know about how well it was looked after by the previous owner. Did you not try and include new tyres as part of the deal?
  11. You got a link? Showing as £100 each plus fitting for me? http://www.costco.co.uk/view/p/michelin-22545-r17-94-w-crossclimate-mi-xl-786593?warehouse=109
  12. Add Goodyear Asymmetric 3s to the list too then.
  13. Stop taking everything you read online as fact. Dunlop, as with every other tyre manufacturer, make quiet and noisy tyres. I presume your Octavia needs 205/55/16 tyres? If so, and you're looking for a mid range decent all round tyre that's quiet I'd go for either the Dunlop Sport BluResponse or Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance. Expect to pay sub £250 fitted for a full set of either.
  14. Brobit are generally regarded one if the best suppliers of phone/tablet mounts Mounting brackets: http://www.brodit.com/product.html?id=604887&pn=prod&brand=Skoda&model=Octavia III&year=2015 http://www.brodit.com/product.html?id=654885&pn=prod&brand=Skoda&model=Octavia III&year=2015 Then you just buy one of thier device specific holders that attaches to the mount.
  15. Your reasoning for dismissing cars is going to cause you no end of problems. You're now put off cars with a torsion bar rear suspension setup because you drove one car with IRS that was better than your Octavia. Go and drive a Renault Megane RS, or an FN2 Civic Type R and see how they handle with their rubbish torsion bar. The Ford Focus ecoboost issues you keep referring to, I presume is the coolant hose that cracks. The one that's had a factory recall and is no longer an issue? If you look online EVERY car will have so called inherent issues mention by a few on enthusiast forums. Have you actually driven other Octavias to see if the issue you experience is present on those cars, not only yours, or have you just blindly tarred every Octavia with the same brush?
