  1. Well, I topped up. Car took approx 180ml to fill up, a little under a third of a pint? Did not seem much. Will check it again when I get the car back from SWMBO.
  2. Thank you again. In fact thinking about it it is me that is the numpty. The salesmen said 600 to 0.5 of a litre not 1 litre. I remember being suprised because I was thinking that was about 500 miles to a pint, in fact it is nearer 700 miles to a pint which is still still quite high.. Sorry being 103(not really) I still think imperial.
  3. Thanks for the info guys. I thought the handbook states that if you are on fixed service intervals you should use 502, I may have read that incorrectly I do not have access to the handbook at the moment. My car is a demonstrator, it had done 1500 miles when I bought it, it has now done 3100 and it was marginally below the full mark when I checked it when I got home after I bought it. I appreciate that the car may use oil when new, that does not concern me particularly I just wondered if I could pick up an equivalent oil as a top up from Halfords. I dipped the level an hour after use at 3100 miles. I admit I was a little concerned when the salesman stated when I was picking up the car that 600 miles a litre was acceptable...although he assured me that rate of consumption was unlikely.
  4. Have a 2016 TSI 110. Maybe using a little oil, it is halfway between the dipstick marks after 3100 miles (bought at 1500 miles and appeared very close to full). So after a further 1600 miles it may have used a little. Question, handbook says fill up with VW502 what equivalent (if any) is best to use please?
  5. Thanks for the replies guys. It was SWMBO who brought the question up, she was worried about leaving them on after negotiating a local lane which is always dark and shady even during daylight hours.
  6. Got it, tried it, you are quite right! Thanks vc-10.
  7. Should there be an audible warning if I leave the headlights on when I take the keys out of the ignition? My 10 year old Fiesta had one but no warning given by my 2016 1.2 SE.
  8. Thanks juho. I cannot interpret the figures either but from crude calculation the final drive on the 5 speed is 8.26% higher than 6 speed but the 6th gear on the 110hp is 17.56% higher than 5th (which is the same on both models). Does that make the 110 hp Fabia 9.3% higher geared assuming same wheel/tyre size or am I missing something?
  9. Interesting comment by vc-10 on gearing. At a rough calculation from my rev counter and speedo I reckon my 6 speed 110hp estate on standard 15in wheels gives about 30mph per 1000revs in 6th. How does that compare with 5th gear in the 90hp Fabia? Does anybody know the factory figures?
  10. Did a 130 mile round trip to Poole and back, keeping within limits but fairly heavy traffic. Averaged 59.7 from my 2200 mile 110, 6sp manual which made me happy. That was according to the computer readout. A later calculation with refuel (same petrol stn/pump) worked out at just over 55mpg overall with an additional 100 miles of mixed town/urban mileage, so pretty happy with that.
  11. Hello, as you might have guessed I am getting on. The secret I find is to ride regularly and for me a light bike. It does not matter how old you are (I am 71) as long as you are fit, as much as how much you ride. I am out on my GSXR 1000 at least a couple of times a week and clock up around 8,000 miles a year on bikes. I appreciate it is not always easy when you work but there are too many bike owners with lovely 5 year old bikes with less than 5k on them, you see them in dealers every week. There is no substitute for regular riding to remain safe.
  12. I intend running our recently bought 2016 1.2 estate for 10 years, I expect it to see me out. My previous car a 1.4 Fiesta lasted 10+ years and 110k with minimal expense. If the Fabia lasts as long and is just as reliable I shall be well pleased.
  13. Hi I have just bought an ex demo Fabia 1.2 estate from Westover Bournemouth and am pretty pleased with the car and the deal. Hoping I will enjoy both Briskoda and my Fabia.
