  1. Excellent. Hoping to get well beyond 100k too without too many issues (beyond the water pump...). I was previously running an MQB A3 with (almost) the same engine as a company car and got to 80k without a hiccup. It's amazing how cars with a lot of miles under their belt still feel like new nowadays.
  2. Have just been delving through your back catalogue of posts SashaGrace... that dash is spectacular!
  3. Hi all, Been finding myself perving over potential options for my next car but in reality I'm a few years off replacing my 2014 Estate... the plan is to run it into the ground and it's only done 60k so far (the previous owner gave it a very gentle first four years). But it got me wondering... Anyone got any mega mileage Mk3s they want to boast about?!
  4. It seems to vary - mine was fine for a few hundred miles while I waited for a slot at the garage (turning up the heater in the cabin if the temp started to rise). For other people it's just let go and emptied coolant all over the road.
  5. Hi, just done it as it happens - ran out of time when I serviced last time (when I started this thread). I've attached some pics. Make sure you can get the fill plug out before you drain it The fill and drain plugs are both 10 mm Allens (M22, part number N10037105). I've just reused the originals, there's no washer or anything. Torque to 30 Nm. For actually getting the oil into the 'box, I used some ~10 mm tubing, running from the top of the engine bay down into the fill hole. You should be able to wedge it against something inside the gearbox to hold it in place. I put a hole in one of the bottle lids, stuck the inlet end of the tube through, and sealed it with plenty of tape(!). I then just needed to attach each bottle to the same lid. To help the flow I stuck a hole in the first two bottles to let air in, and had a bit of tape attached adjacent to it (ready to put over the air hole in case I needed to stop pouring). I used the oil linked from the first post on this thread. You need 2.3 litres to fill it. I put another 100 ml in (going by the gauge on the side of the bottles), to take account of the dregs I'd left in the bottom of the bottles / the tubing. I think if the car was level you'd just fill it till it overflowed out the fill hole, but I was just working off axle stands at the front, so went the measurement route. Just been for a quick test drive so far, but the initial impression is that was quieter and smoother in some gears. Third was a bit clunky... although it was before anyway.
  6. Year of registration: January 2014 Engine: 2.0 TDI (CKFC) Mileage when fault occurred: 47,000 miles Dealer name & response : Didn't bother trying with a main dealer, just went to a local specialist. Warranty or goodwill contribution? £410 for cam belt and water pump. New part number was 04L121011L. No loss of coolant, the engine just lost the ability to keep its cool when under strain (e.g. going up hills)... turning up the heater brought it back under control. Ridiculous that these things are failing so early.
  7. Have Skoda footed the bill out of interest? My 2014 has just had its first overheating session!
  8. Skoda don’t quote an interval for replacement - it’s nominally “filled for life”. Mine’s a bit clunky when shifting so thinking of changing the oil to see if it helps.
  9. Hi guys, Have had a search in the forum but haven’t found any history on this topic - has anyone had a crack at changing their manual gearbox oil on an Octy 3? I believe it’s VAG’s MQ350 ‘box in the 2.0TDI and Opie Oils pointed me in this direction for the replacement fluid: https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-976-fuchs-titan-sintofluid-fe-sae-75w-synthetic-manual-transmission-oil.aspx I’m doing an engine oil change soon so will have a recce to see what access is like/where plugs are while I’m under there, but thought I’d check if anyone had any intel on it first. Cheers!
  10. For anyone interested in the green-collared ones I found one on eBay in the end too, which arrived in good nick. This guy has a couple more for sale: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-5N0-035-554H-LIGHTNING-LEAD-CABLE-Music-i-face-Adapter-for-iPod-iPhone-/142323138699?hash=item21231ec08b:g:6X8AAOSwFV9XyYDg Adding the word "genuine" to my search solved my lack of previous success!
  11. Hi Northlodge, any joy finding the cable? I'm also on the hunt, trying to find a genuine green-sheathed one, so it will also show album art, but not having much joy!
