Hi James, Feel free to Txt me (removed) VCDS - can't remember all of them to be honest but dipping passenger mirror when selecting reverse. a slight change to the virtual cockpit. the one i wanted to do like the other car was high beam assist but the modules were different and i couldnt do it as the MY20 cars changed a lot from my other MY15. I will be near Yelverton from 6th August for 3 weeks

It was really well specced. Only problem was the towbar electric connector was stuck down so hopefully they fixed that and was going to be done at next service under warranty. I had zero faults on the car since new. I have a DTUK tuning box for it at home if you are interested and also the remap module for the gearbox that is specific to that car and could be used again( it's a one car use only upgrade module that plugs into OBD port and reprograms the box). can talk through that if you are interested. I'm guessing Skoda have completely reset the car. I have a DTUK box on the other Vrs we have and it's been on there from 600 miles and its now on 95k with no issues. It was a great upgrade. I had also done a couple of VCDS mods and again, I have the cable ( cant sell it as we have a manual MY15 vrs in the house) but one of the 3 uses was on that car. I've also had Limo tint done on B pillar back (4 windows) and 20% less tint done on rear window as the Limo tint was too dark for that one Steve

Yes, the car has the adaptive suspension as well so mode changes the throttle map and suspension setting but all do the same.

Hi All, any experts out there made any changes to the way DSG is performing ? My car is a MY20 Diesel VRS 4x4 but not been totally happy with the application of the DSG box since having the car nearly 2 years now. the problem is only up to 3rd gear and once in that it's totally fine. To give an example if i floor the throttle from a standstill it feels like massive amounts of clutch slip is happening. i can overcome this by a slight lift and that causes a quick upshift as long as there is enough speed for the higher gear to engage. Once in third there is no clutch slip. main problem is the slope from my house and the box not wanting to change from 2nd to 3rd until about 18mph which is a higher speed then needed due to built up area, parked cars and kids etc. but the car is revving at 2,000rpm and tractor sounding when cold. has anyone been able to change the speed threshold where the box changes gear ? Previous manual model would do that at 1000rpm and be into 3rd and there is tons of torque in these motors. I tried a 330d Touring at the weekend and the ZF box in that is a revelation as it just seemed to change up as needed and ride the torque of the motor where the Skoda seems to be pre programmed and not fitting the engines torque. Thanks for that. It's due a service at 10k so I will report it to the dealer. and push the oil change. The car changes ok. It must be the slope I drive up from the house and the right speed is about 17mph so its revving high for 2nd and wont change to 3rd until about 19mph..Its a side street so I don't want to go fast as kids are playing etc. it just seems wrong to be holding 2nd gear at 2,500 revs. It wont manually change to 3rd at that speed. My last car was on variable servicing and that's what this one should be on but I took the offer of first 2 services for £139 or £149 (cant remember which) as it seemed a good deal and the sales guy had made a mistake (he forgot I was on Variable and still offered the fixed servicing deal) as I thought i wouldnt pay anything until 3 years old ! I'm doing about 17k to 18k per year. Cheers Steve

The other annoying aspect. I live on a bit of a slope and park facing downhill. On a cold start, select reverse and it’s got to rev to about 2,000 to 2,500 to just get moving which also feels really weird as with the manual, any manoeuvre like that was done without use of the throttle and at tickover so I don’t get the need to slip the clutches so much. steve

Previous car before manual Skoda was a BMW 320d manual and the throttle response in that was worse than the current Skoda...to pull away quickly, floor the throttle, wait 2 seconds then work the clutch..dreadful ! drivers car not..steering worse as well due to run flats. Both cars bought new the comparison to the Scoob was just there to highlight how bad the steering is and what is possible. I am running fairly aggressive goemetry on the scoob which does help but as it does 2 to 3k a year i can live with it. Spinning front tyre only occurs if turning hard right/left and pulling away and booting it.

Hi, Thought I would post up comparisons. Previous car was a MY15 VRS TDI manual. Owned that for 5 years and done 80k miles. The Mrs now has this car. 2 problems in that time. Turbo boost sensor caused limp mode twice (rectified after turn off) and was changed at next service . Water pump caused overheating and they changed under warranty (had a 5 year). Had a DTUK box on from 600 miles and adjusted consumption to get accurate brim to brim alignment with computer average. My normal run is Bristol to Heathrow and often every week. Average for this was between 55 to 60 depending on time available. @ 70 then 62 to 63 mpg achievable. Car was always in sport mode and throttle response is/was excellent and very sharp. apart from numb steering was very pleased with the car. End of September last year, took delivery of a TDI VRS DSG 4x4- extras include DCC. after 9000 miles and fitting DTUK box and DSG upgrade i'm still not overly impressed. Throttle response by comparison is "slow" and it just seems dim witted at lower speeds with lots of clutch slip if i try and go along at 15 mph. It's easy to drive and relaxed and to switch into comfort on the motorway works well as I had hoped. One massive difference though is the consumption. Same journey as described above and same speed i'm getting 45 MPG. Overall this car is using 25% more fuel. Grip is grood but system is not as good as my 20 year old Scoob. If turning right at a junction I can spin up inside front wheel in the Skoda where the Scoob would ultimately divert thrust to the rear if provoked. The steering on the new car is slightly worse than the old one and doesn't give any confidence as there is little/no feeling to suggest limit of grip...I get lots of messages in the Scoob. I would have another but with some more attention to small details it could be a good drivers car.

I've just gone from a manual VRS Diesel (Manaual box) with DTUK tuning box on since new and it has done 80k miles. The Throttle response is/was amazing and responded instantly and felt like you only needed to breathe on it to get a reaction. Picked up a new VRS, 4x4, DSG and my instant reaction is disappointment with the throttle response. It's a bit like when I had a 320d, push throttle, count to 2 and then it responds. I've already fitted a box and DSG upgrade but certainly isn't anywhere near the Manual for response. That said, above 20mph, it's slick and smooth and doesn't feel like wasting power. Below 20mph, i'm still getting used to high revs for little go Did someone mention mpg ! so far i've done 2 runs from Bristol to LHR and i'm about 10+ MPG down from where the manual was (and going slower..) so hopefully as things loosen up it will improve. I had changed the consumption calculator on the manual with VCDS on the manual for +10% so it read correctly - fill to fill ups but not done that yet on the DSG car so suspect even worse difference. I've posted my original scan on the ross tech forum so lets see how that goes. I'm not an expert on VCDS and havent used it in about 4 years since doing all the adaptations on my 64 plate ! I got a new cable from Gendan 3 weeks ago which is a Hex v2- dual-k & can. I spoke to them and told them the car I was buying so guess this is the correct cable ? Vcds is 19.6 is that all ok ? thanks fo any help steve
