  1. Hmm, I did wonder if it was the same sensor. In that case it must be faulty, I'll have to find where it is, and change it.
  2. I have a 2006 2.0 tfsi VRS estate, and I've been checking the oil fairly regularly, and have been finding it quite low on the dipstick sometimes. Fair enough, engines can use oil, I get that, but I've never seen an oil light on yet? My last car (Audi A6) had a very sensitive oil sensor and would alert you when it was half way down the dipstick every time. The VRS has been almost dry on the dipstick, but no light? Is this normal or do I need to get the sensor replaced? How sensitive is your sensor?
  3. This is the back of a similar unit, you can see I think it has a twin FAKRA connection. This is the aerial connection I would need from a roof aerial, in order to connect to the DAB adaptor that audiotechdirect recommended. I'm not sure I'm gonna find an exact aerial with these connections, and so might have to deal with the glass mounted aerial. Pity. Has anyone tried mounting the aerial within the dash?
  4. Hi all, I've got my new Android 6 headunit installed and very pleased with the fit and finish. Looks very factory. Whilst test driving it on Monday the wife noticed it's a bit weaker with radio reception than the Stream unit that came out. I noticed the aerial has one plug, whereas the headunit has the sockets to take 2 plugs. Have I used the wrong socket, or is there an adaptor I need? In a related question, when I buy a DAB adaptor for it, can it be connected to a roof aerial, or have I got to use the crap looking glass mount aerials? Can someone point me to a website selling the DAB/FM roof aerials, if such a thing exists? Thanks all!
  5. Apart from the head unit, I'll be looking at a detachable towbar, with appropriate wiring. Might consider a reversing camera, if the head unit allows it. It is mainly gonna be a workhorse for the family to be lugged around, so I don't want to go mad, but we might as well be in comfort! DAB would be very nice, as my 8 year old is obsessed by Radio X, might keep him quiet.
  6. Hi all, Just picked up new (to me) 2007 Octavia VRS estate, from the far west of Cornwall. Only done 70,000 miles, so hopefully will last me a few years yet. Only got it on Sunday, but already remembering what pleasure lies in a petrol engine! The wife specifically wanted Sat Nav and bluetooth hands free, but decently priced petrol Octavias seemed a bit scarce down here, so I promised I'd look into retrofitting a better headunit. It comes with the bum basic Stream unit, so will be looking at the RNS 315/510 options in a short while. This looks to be a useful forum, so hopefully I will be here doing upgrades, and not repairs! Cheers, Ed.
