  1. I have so far never had them go up, only down from quoted figures, fingers crossed that won't change.
  2. also looking at two mk 2 tfsi petrols on friday. a lot of different tuners get very good reviews, I'm leaning toward an economical shark sts at the moment as i can do it myself and it would be under the 25% for the insurance. My main wants are smooth acceleration and some more power, anyone able to comment on this map? or is there something better?
  3. Wondering if there is such a map for this car, searching I'm only finding stage one maps which don't mention economy. May well be economy maps are only for the diesel version. Would love to hear any experience of some of the slightly lower powered remaps for this car, under 250hp, as the insurance would be reasonable with this increase and i would worry about clutch too if i went for the max power maps. cheers guys.
  4. insurance is insane, haven't spoken to my insurer at the moment, but the quotes on a comparison site for octavia petrol with remap and commercial are coming up cheaper than i was paying for unmapped fabia. Hard to understand (impossible). new car would be worth twice as much and with remap would definitely be faster. Crazy world. Thanks Dan for reply, will probably see what current insurer would charge for change on the rest of this years cover, if they are unreasonable will give you a buzz.
  5. which estates would you be thinking of? i do like the skodas, same vw quality without stupid price tag on services etc just for a different badge. if the insurance causes faff about remap, sure will get by without. always meant to do it on the fabia and never did, was fast and fun enough without. cheers
  6. That is my next step, was hoping to hear from some experience or from brokers in theory first. Will give a few rings over the next few days. Not too big a deal as Im sure its good to drive without a remap anyway. Is always a faff calling insurers when you haven't bought the car yet. Guess not many people are using these fun cars for commercial use. My current insurer im not keen on keeping as just trying to add a friend for a few weeks holiday they were not at all helpful and we ended up getting temp cover for a much cheaper price. thanks for the reply.
  7. ooking into buying an octavia vrs soon. will need commercial cover as carrying gardening equipment. do a company such as yours cover this or is it assumed that modded cars are not used for this sort of thing? cheers, dominic

  9. good day guys, Background first, Im a small scale gardener so i lug a lawnmower, strimmer and some tools around for work, hence needing the commercial insurance. I also tend to drive to germany for a nice long skiing holiday and ski teaching in the winter, hence preferring an estate to a van. am looking at a mark 2 octi vrs diesel as an upgrade from my mark 1 fabia vrs as it is bit small for all that i need from it. was wondering if anyone had experience of getting insurance with commercial and a remap? remap questions will go in specific forum area.
  10. just introducing myself to you guys, have read a few forum threads as a non member before fabia was bought years ago. Looking at an octavia vrs soon and thought would be nicer to chat and be a member on here. so basically, greetings
