I went for a Superb Sportline Hatch 150BHP DSG in Moon White. I really like my A5 although it's a base model. I have it in red and had lowered it with H&R springs and fitted it with 19" BBS wheels. Looked really good and did everything I wanted as a hatchback so practical too. Reason for the change is that the latest A5 has jumped up in price for the base model, hence out of budget for my company car scheme. Looked around and I just couldn't argue with the Skoda as a package.

Doesn't appear mandatory on the website. Each thing can be selected individually. The camera is positioned near the boot handle and nowhere near the rear screen hence no real reason to be required to have both. They will have no effect on each other.

I had a Sportline 150 DSG on order and found out by accident that because it would be a MY18 when built, the CO2 emmisions would jump two levels on my company car tax. A bit naughty I thought and am sure it would catch a few people out. You order the car thinking you know the spec and they make changes like that. As a result, I cancelled the order and have managed to find a similarly specced car already in the system. Gained the Moon White, heated seats and rear wiper which I wasn't going to order but lost the OE tow bar which I really wanted. Never mind, the good news is that I am just waiting for it to be shipped now so should see it in 2-3 weeks.

I have just ordered a Sportline in Moon White that is already built so had a couple of extras I wouldn't have ordered. One of them is a rear wiper. Someone told me that you can remove it and fit a blanking plate. Anyone done that by chance? if so, is it simple and where would I get the bits. Really don't want a wiper cluttering the rear screen.

I was hoping the same ref 190 Manual. Settled for requesting the 150BHP DSG instead from my company but just seen the CO2 figures have jumped too. 150 Man from 109 to 114 and the DSG rom 119 to 125! On the latter, that jumps 2 levels on my company car tax. Time for a rethink........

I get the feeling that once I do this, I won't wish to go back to manual.

Hey, I know I'm not the sharpest tool in the bag but even I know that official figures are in no way to be compared to realistic real world figures Ref tyres, I'm in the tyre trade and have been since.....well.....puberty so fully aware of the differences in compound etc. Tyre labels are a world of fun when you dig a little deeper. Something to be taken into consideration but definitely not to be fully relied on as a true comparison! I went from Conti Sport Contact 3 to Pirelli PZero - in no way a like for like compound or size. Interesting ref ref the wet/dry clutch stuff though. Also, I did find it interesting when looking at different cars that for some the auto box would murder CO2 and MPG figs whereas others it would improve things.

Thanks Sagalout/Whaty/teebs that makes me feel better. The thing that puzzled me is the difference between official quoted consumption figures. On the Sportline 150bhp, the Extra Urban figure goes from 76.4mpg for the manual box down to 68.9 for the DSG. Weird when 'in theory' if on on the motorway you are cruising at 70-80, surely there would be little difference other than weight. The other thing is the wheels. I know on my current A5 Sportback I changed the wheels from 17" to 19" BBS (2255017 up to 2553519) and the consumption did suffer. Have put the originals back on to sell the BBS wheels in anticipation of the car change and noticed a good 2-3 mpg better. Even so, with what you guys are reporting, I should be alright. Can't wait to get the DSG box now, should be good.

I've just read through this thread and have gone through multiple cycles of panic and then relief Just ordered my first Skoda - a Superb Sportline Hatch - 150BHP with my first DSG box and worried that I'm giving up a decent chunk of fuel economy for the sake of going for DSG. I do relatively high miles - 45k a year - and fuel economy makes a big difference. Then again, so does the car itself as I practically live in it and I'm just trying to get the balance right. The target is to get a true 50mph across the month on a regular basis. Ahh well, I'll just have see what mine does. Will report back when I collect. Thanks for for the info everyone.

Just ordered a Superb Sportline 150BHP DSG and have a question on MPG. I currently drive an Audi A5 and before that a VW Passat. Both reported around 5mpg over what they were actually doing. Seems to be a VAG issue judging by other threads I read ref Skoda too. My 2008 Mazda 6 I had prior to the VW was near enough spot on so it can be done. Is the current Superb any better for this and more importantly, has anyone found a fix for it? I remember asking the VW dealer about the Passat (could it be calibrated for instance) and got a flat 'no'.

I managed to get a test drive elsewhere. Liked the car and have ordered.....hope I've done the right thing. Went for: Sportline in Candy White with 150BHP with DSG. Only added parking sensors and towbar. Decided against Canton in the end. Somebody tell me I've done the right thing, I need reassurance. Talking of dealers, my colleague who received his Skoda from a fleet source recently had a phone call within 2 days of delivery of his Octavia VRS. Even though they had not supplied the car, Bristol Skoda knew he had a new Skoda, wanted to introduce themselves and offered their services for anything he required. Nice touch I thought. That will be an interesting conversation if I get the same kind of phone call from my local dealer

Agreed ColinD, it amazes me the money some dealerships have to spend on their sites. It's when you sit in my local Audi dealership and get a bill for £500 for a service and get a quote for £299 for a set of front brake pads on a basic Diesel A5 and wonder where all the money goes - on this palace of a building I guess - they have a mortgage to pay. The judder on my clutch is getting worse and I got a quote from Audi for a laugh. £2600!!!! I do have a test drive from Skoda UK coming. They have made initial contact but just waiting for someone to call me back and let me know if they can get the engine/gearbox combo I am after and arrange a date/time. Just seems to be taking ages and I want to get on and order. I want to ask the Skoda dealer near my office the same question but if i get the same answer then i won't want to use them either. I'll end up getting it serviced at a local grease monkey if I'm not careful.
