Parking sensors and snow
LiviuV replied to Robbydazzler's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
It's quite common to get an error message saying "Front Assist: sensor impaired" when covered with snow / driving while snowing. Funny thing is that I've tried replicated those conditions by covering the front radar with a piece of cardboard but couldn't get it to report the same error. In fact the front radar seems to work just fine when covered with a piece of cardboard and could detect cars in front. Intriguing... -
Anyone else spec the heated steering wheel?
LiviuV replied to Sw1's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
Would it be possible to share the adaptation you used for coding that? Heated steering wheel was an option I would have liked very much to have but was not available to order with the sport steering wheel on Sportline when I placed my order in spring. In the mean time it's possible to order a heated steering wheel even for Sportline and I'm wondering if the heating element is present or not given that my car was built in August. Thanks a lot in advance! -
I've got the exact same problem on an almost brand new Sportline Estate with Canton. Same speaker, front right, only that I'm in continental Europe so that makes it passenger side for me. The problem hasn't manifested itself until ~1000 miles (~1600 km). It has reoccurred a few times and it usually goes away in a matter of minutes. I'm not sure how it relates to ambient temperature as most times I've had it the distortion began not immediately after setting off, but after driving for a while. Also my car is fitted with auxiliary heating and I make use of it every morning. So by the time I get into the car it's already nice and warm. I'll keep an eye on it and hope that together we'll be able to get a better understanding of the conditions in which it appears. Best would be if it could be easily reproduced as that would considerably speed up the investigation process at the dealer.

Nothing, it's an error

Order placed on the 20th of April for a MY18 Superb Sportline Estate 2.0 TSI 280 4x4 DSG in brilliant silver metallic. Order accepted by the factory on the 9th of May, confirmed to be correct and possible to be built. On the 19th of May a provisional build week has been allocated, week 38. The dealer mentioned the fact that this build week is not final and that it may change. Then there are another 3 weeks needed to have the car delivered to the dealer. So a total of at least 25 weeks, from order to delivery. Went for a very large number of extras though: Rear side airbags (PE2) Independent heating with remote control (PHD) Tri-zone climate control (PH2) 19" Vega alloy wheels (PJU) Virtual pedal (PK9) Heated windscreen (PKV) KESSY with alarm, safe function (PK7) Virtual pedal (PK9) Park assist (PPA) Premium WLAN with integrated high-speed LTE internet (PT2) Travel assist with traffic sign recognition and display (PWD) Electrically adjustable passenger's seat (P05) DAB+ (QV3) Columbus touchscreen satellite navigation system (RAG) Media Command (RA1) 230V power socket and an additional USB port (RA2) Canton sound system (RA3) Rear backrest release from boot (UK3) Integrated tow bar (1D4) Progressive steering (1N7) Partition net screen (3CX) Variable boot floor (3GN) ISOFIX on front passenger seat (3G1) Retractable parcel shelf (3U2) Sunblinds for rear side windows (3Y4) Heated front and rear seats (4A4) Crew Protection Assistant (7W2) Media command (9WX) Heated windscreen washer nozzles (9T1) Car has been ordered in France. Smart light assist with Lane assist and Blind spot detection as well as rearview camera are missing from the above as they are standard on Sportline trim level in France.

I too am looking to do exactly the same thing. Did you manage to find colour coded covers that could be used instead to replace the original badges?

Is this some kind of Record...
LiviuV replied to Neil201's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
Engine choice, trim level, extras and sometimes colour choice all play a role in the time it takes to have the car built. From your signature I see it's a Sportline 2.0 TSI Estate. What engine power did you go for, 220 or 280? Was it a stock Sportline or you also got some extras? -
I went for silver so hopefully they won't show that much. PPF is something that I'm considering. Unfortunately the price of a installing a good quality PPF (Xpel Ultimate and the likes), one that is machine cut and guaranteed to last for a few good years is insanely high. It's very likely that it will not make a lot of sense from a price perspective. And in any case it would not help much. As I was mentioning some people slam their doors so hard that it will cause dents, not only scratches. With or without PPF, the dent will still be there.

Thanks for the picture Speedman, the wedge form factor is indeed very discreet. After giving it some more thought the ideal setup for me would involve a 360 degrees coverage of the car. I'm not that much concerned about recording what goes on while driving, that's quite uneventful most of the time. On the other hand I'm a lot more interested in recording what happens when the car is parked. Many people here have little respect for other people's cars. Many times when exiting their car they will slam the door and leave huge dents and scratches on the car parked next to them. Similarly, some insist in trying to fit in the most improbable of parking places by giving a not so gentle push to the car in front and the one behind. So if you have your parking brake engaged or if the car is in gear that's bound to lead to quite some damage to the bumper. In fact the sole reason for me getting the retractable tow hook is to protect the rear bumper in these cases (I don't intent to ever tow anything with the car and never done it in the past). It looks as if the minimal setup giving 360 degrees coverage would involve a set of 4 cameras, one in the front, one in the back and one on each side of the car. Fitting a font camera will be problematic as there isn't much space where it could be installed given that the middle part of the front grill is used by the radar. It could go underneath the front grille but it would mean that it sits quite low. I've ordered the OEM rearview camera, I wonder if there is any way of tapping into the signal from it, when not in use (you are not going in reverse). Did anyone attempt to replace the side LED lights underneath the side mirrors with cameras?

Indeed, from the research I've done so far it would seem as if there is no 4K dual channel dash cam on the market as of yet. And yes, you're right full 4K resolution is not needed here, horizontal pixels are what are needed. Thanks for the pointer to the JooVuu X camera! Unfortunately it's quite a bit larger than what I'm looking for. Ideally I would like to get something in a very compact form factor like the BlackVue line of dash cams. The point of hardwiring is to have a tidy installation, without any flying wires. Also, with an external battery pack there is no need to have the camera always connected at all times to the car's battery and risking to completely deplete the car's battery.
-
I'm in a very similar situation, looking for the best possible dual channel dash cam to fit on the 2.0 TSI 280 Sportline estate that I have on order and that's due to be delivered end of September. I would prefer something that records in true 4K (not upscaled from a full HD sensor), but there doesn't seem to be anything like that on the market. Also important factors for me are the following: Support for high capacity micro SD cards (at least 128 GB, better still 256 GB) Recording using an efficient video codec (H.264 or better still H.265 - HEVC) Low form factor. I would like the units to be as non intrusive and discreet as possible Battery pack for recording while parked without depleting the car's battery (although most high end units seem to have this option) Good recording quality in low light situations

I'm also very interested in knowing if there is an online tracker that could be used to track the status of an order for a Superb, one that would work regardless of which dealer was used to place the order in the first place. Thanks in advance!
-
I know that in the UK the Superb is a lot cheaper than it is here in France but I highly doubt that it would be worth it. Just consider the inconvenience when having to overtake someone or when having to pay at a toll booth, not to mention the hassle of getting it registered in the first place.

2018 facelift prediction thread
LiviuV replied to eurotraveller's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
Thanks a lot for the great valuable info, it helps a lot in getting more details on upcoming changes. I hope you don't mind that I've posted a link to your post above in the thread dedicated to the MY18 changes.
