  1. Well that's good news cos after everyone's help in here re: CAVE engines and how vastly over priced the one was I was looking at, I'm now going to look at a 2014 Fabia this weekend. 1k over budget but the p/x for mine and hopefully some haggling should soften the blow if I choose to go ahead.
  2. Sadly I can only drive Autos, hence another big reason the Fabia appeals to me. Is the engine that volatile?
  3. I agree with that. A lot of it's down to luck of the draw too I think. Years ago I bought a Passat and was worst car I've ever owned, sold it 1yr later after it cost me about 4k in repairs on several different thing's, yet I read so much good about them. Before that I had an 96 Mitsubishi FTO and that's the best I've had, so reliable. Driving a 07 Saab 9-3 now and its been brilliant to me but nearly at 160k miles now.
  4. What other cars? I'm struggling to find anything other than Fabia/Ibiza/Polo that offers what I want. Good MPG, quick and cheap on tax. I understand I want a lot but it's what the Fabia offers me. Besides the oil consumption issues on some of (or most of) the Fabias, what other documented issues are there?
  5. How about this one? Only 60 miles away from me..... http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201703213502486?atmobcid=soc3
  6. I noticed that too, I presume that's cos they have a yellow 11 plate for 8.5k. Didn't realise it was that over priced though! I know Skoda dealers would be more but not by that margin. Think I'll start looking elsewhere. Out of curiosity do the Seat Ibiza and VW Polo have the exact same engine?
  7. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201704054098077?atmobcid=soc3 That's the advert. I'll be driving past tomorrow to try and get the plate.
  8. Ideally no more than 8k really. The one I'm interested in is 7.5k and they've agreed to drop to 7.2k so far.
  9. When you say crap fuel do you just mean standard unleaded? I tend to always fill up (diesel on current car) at Esso cos it's conveniently on my way to work.
  10. I don't know the reg off hand and its blanked out on the advert, will drive past the garage tomorrow if i remember and find out.
  11. When you put it like that it makes me want it more If you don't mind me asking, how do you drive? Long/short distances? Fast/responsibly? I ask cos I do about 25miles to work, normally quite conservatively, and 25 miles back a bit more aggressively lol.
  12. That's exactly what I've been reading which is what concerns me. 1l of oil per 1k miles would mean I had to do 1l per month. Seems very excessive! Is it all CTHE that have this consumption or just a percentage? I understand completely that a lot of what you read online will be negative cos people like to complain more than compliment. That's why I signed up here to get some owner advice.
  13. Would that be 2012 onwards? The only 2 post-2012 models within 40 miles of me are private sales and I'm not comfortable spending that much money with no warranty if you know what I mean. Maybe I should just wait til one comes up...
  14. It will be from a Skoda Dealership and it will come with 1 year warranty. I have requested details of the cars history and asked if it's ever had an engine replacement but have yet to hear back. I took it for a test drive and it was a superb drive. The car seems ideal for me as I've always wanted a car with a good bit of oomph and I drive about 1k miles a month so decent economy is a must too. Just very worried about all the issues I read.
  15. Hi All, Firstly I apologise if you've seen a similar thread over and over but I'm new to this and forums in general. I am seriously interested in buying a particular Fabia VRS 2010 but keep reading horror stories about the oil consumption issues. The one I'm looking at has 2 owners and 47k mile's on it, any help/advice or information you guys and girls could give would be greatly appreciated.
