  1. Sorry to bump up an old thread but my FL VRS had blocks left in on the offside front. This led to a jarring ride principally over potholes and it took me 100 miles to work out something was wrong and ask on here. The telltale sign of them only being on one side was that it went over speed bumps in a very strange way! Dealer's service manager couldnt quite believe it especially as they are bright blue. There was even a label saying 'PDI OK' on the key! I'm not going to name the dealer as they have been very reasonable in response but I would urge anyone who thinks the suspension on their car is harsher than expected, to jack it up and have a look. This is what you will see if they have been left in.
  2. They are extremely bright. In auto mode with the main headlights on, other drivers flash you assuming you have full beam on. Full beam looks like something out of the X Files.
  3. Were the standard seats in the pre FL a cloth/leather mix? The seats in mine are cloth with what feels like alcantara on the bits where the leather used to be. Is this the same on others?
  4. Don't want to say too much pending discussion with dealer but grateful for advice received here.
  5. I reached inside the wheel arch and ran my fingers all the way to the top of the coil - couldn't feel anything. Would it have been obvious if something had been there?
  6. Thanks. As the car was delivered to home by transporter I suppose it is even more likely. Time for a trip to an independent garage I think.
  7. OK so all good with the new vrs (on 18s with some very noisy Bridgestone Potenzas) except I had been thinking - the ride is a bit jarring - was the test drive route chosen to be very smooth? Growing sense of dread today as we drive around and SWMBO starts wincing every time there's a crack in the road. Eventually she says 'the suspension' s not very good, is it?' Not my favourite moment of the weekend but she has a point. So I go and check the pressures, hoping and praying that they are massively too high and guess what - they're too low. 30/31 PSI on 18s. Not knowing what else to do I put them up to 35, expecting the ride to now reach model T levels of comfort - and it's actually much, much better. You still feel everything but the car doesn't jolt in and out of potholes. I suppose I should be grateful that in 100 miles of driving before checking the pressures I haven't damaged a wheel or (hopefully) damaged the suspension. Don't know why I didn't check, last car was handed over from dealer with wrong pressures as well. Now the car needs a big PR campaign with my wife. I'm not used to these big wheels and skinny tyres. Are they just super sensitive to being at the right pressure, and should I be surprised that 5 PSI too low was enough to make the ride harsher? Will going over a few potholes this way have done any damage?
  8. (Checks car is still on drive in Surrey) no, that wasn't me. Anyone else finding that other drivers think you have full beam on and flash you because the LEDs are a bit brutal?
  9. One already posted on another thread but two photos of mine from this evening. I regretted not going black pack for a while but right now am happy I didn't - the blue works well for me with the chrome grille surround. May yet change my mind though!
  10. Just been for a first drive in my new TSI VRS FL. Don't have a point of comparison with a pre FL but, the slightly jarring ride at low speed aside, I am a very happy new owner. It really doesnt feel like a big or powerful car on suburban roads but when you want it there is masses of overtaking speed and you build a sense of confidence in the handling very quickly. I'd rate it as better through corners than the 09 scirocco I had a few years ago. This feels like an awful lot of car for the money.
  11. Does anyone have a pic of the 2017 amundsen so I can check the right unit is installed in car? Arrives tomorrow!
  12. Thanks all, just got mine for similar amount from total loss gap. Helpful reminder. One interesting question is how insurance companies use list prices in determining market value. There's big discounts on FL currently which take new prices below what Skoda are advertising 66 plate cars with same specs and a few thousand miles on. So as an insurer do you start with the list or the invoice?
  13. I think he may be a bit busy enjoying his new car!
  14. Has anyone who ordered a vrs very early on (first two weeks of march) taken delivery - and was the standard kit as expected? Slightly paranoid because the options list was being changed so much at that time that it will be missing something critical like sat nav.
  15. Car (tsi vrs manual estate in blue) due on my drive 2nd June - due to dealers this week. Having to leave SWMBO to inspect and sign for as I'm going to be at work and the dealer wants to deliver to registered address. But no options on car except for spare wheel so as long as it's a vrs with the right wheels in the right colour it should be straightforward.
  16. I've just seen the full spec price list - for some reason can't upload it - and I can see why there is confusion. Foldable heated mirrors are in the standard spec but when you go to optional extras, there is an 'optional' in the vrs column next to 'includes auto dimming rear view mirror for SE' and a price which is on the second line of the item. So if you read it quickly you would think the whole lot is optional
  17. Order books opened March 1st for vrs. I ordered my petrol estate on 10 March using an internet broker, still expecting 2nd week June although apparently Skoda often pull this forward later in the build cycle. They weren't accepting order amendments two weeks ago
