  1. Maybe not, but my other half has a Seat Leon 2015 with extremely similar insides yet his seems to manage it far more efficiently than my nav or Google Maps on my phone for example
  2. So after a few more weeks of ownership and regular use, the MIB 1 is VERY frustrating indeed. A few problems im having: 1)cancelling route guidance on the sat nav sometimes results in the map thinking I'm in a foreign country, looks like Germany from the place names. It's happened twice now (I've only cancelled route guidance a few times) and both times the map went to the same place i have downloaded and installed the new map data 2017. 2) I play my music from an SD card. I usually have it shuffling all tracks. Almost every time I get in the car, shuffle is turned off and so it ends up playing the songs from whatever album the last song was in. Or, it stays on shuffle and shuffles the album the last song was in. This is annoying having to re point to what I want it to play. 3) sat nav is VERY slow to get started. I haven't timed it but it feels like a good couple of minutes whereas music starts instantaneously. 4) traffic updates are useless - often out of date. As is the route guidance itself - following the quickest route doesn't always go the way I know is the quickest. There are a few other niggles but they slip my mind right now. Perhaps I'd better get saving for the Pioneer system?!
  3. Hello all I had to cancel my order for a FL Octavia VRS due to the finances (gutted) but I have now got a 2015 Octavia VRS estate. It was so hard keeping on top of all the options and changes to the technology, but I now realise that I've ended up with a MY15 (registered May 2015), with Amundsen + Sat Nav but with MIB1. It would appear that this car was built only weeks too early to get the MIB2. Whilst it's not the end of the world, as the tech is far superior to anything I've had before, the system does appear sluggish performing certain actions (Voice and Sat Nav although I've just updated my Sat Nav so will see if that's improved). And of course, I'm missing out on the ability to mirror link or Smartlink my phone. Having trawled the forum and Google I can't find anything recent only speculation from when the MY16 first came out, but IS IT POSSIBLE TO RETROFIT MIB2, to get the quicker system and mirror link etc and What will it cost me? Will a dealer do this?
  4. After two unsuccessful attempts at the default setting of 32mb, saying insufficient space at the very last couple of files (Turkey), and having really no idea what 4k clusters meant, I tried reformatting the SD card and changed the drop down box to the one that said 4 thousand and something bytes and it worked!! I'm now off to try it in the car...
  5. It was the only reason against getting a diesel car for me as my commute 3-4 times a week is tiny. I reckoned I could easily go the long way round if needed once a week. Newer diesel engines like the ones we are getting Mark, go through a regeneration cycle of their own accord so I'm hoping I should just be able to drive the thing
  6. It's the Diesel Particulate Filter. It's responsible for the low emissions. It catches soot and other nasties from the exhaust and when up to temperature burns it off. If you frequently do lots of short trips then the DPFS can cause a problem but a 20 minute jaunt up anf down the local dual carriageway at higher revs than normal is all that it usually necessary to burn off the excess soot and clear the filter. If they fail they can be expensive.
  7. I had weeks of sleepless nights debating what to do about fuel. My main concern being that my very short journey to work (via school and nursery) would play havoc with a DPF. But I knew I'd regret a petrol VRS within a few months of ownership due to the expense of fuel - I'm used to 55-75mpg from my Mini Cooper D. My driving style steers mainly towards economy but being an advanced driver I want the option to go swiftly and enjoy a country road every now and again. I don't regret my decision to go diesel. I wasn't really overly concerned with what the government will or won't do, surely lorries and buses are more of a problem? Each to their own I guess, as long as it's the right decision for individuals I don't see the point of scaremongering towards a petrol.
  8. At the risk of going of topic you could try an insurer who fits a black box?
  9. I know what you mean. I've had similar with my recent quote. But as long as you're happy with the total price then you've just got to live with it. I've had weeks of emotional turmoil deciding whether I should buy a new car or used, and then wondering if I really was getting the best deal or whether there was something better around the corner. It'll be worth it when the cars are on our drive/garage/street or when we're driving the long way home to enjoy it a bit more...
  10. Is that charge included in your quote or additional? If it's additional then I wouldn't be happy
  11. Order placed today Meteor grey, 2.0 tdi vrs estate with black pack, front and rear parking sensors, spare wheel and folding mirrors - what hard work that was getting to the bottom of the mirror fargo
  12. I've just called customer services about the mirrors. I was told indefinitely that the vrs Does NOT come with folding heated auto dimming and it is £175 extra. Even though I've got it written in black and white that it is standard in the brochure. I'll not add the option, and if the car is different to the listed spec will kick up a stink ;-)
  13. If it already comes with rear parking sensors, why is it £350 for front AND rears as an option - surely this should be discounted as I only want them to add fronts? J Just like if the car comes with particular wheels, is the price you pay for different wheels on top of the value of the standard wheels they would be removing, or the total cost of new wheels - if so, couldn't you request both sets of wheels if you're paying for them?
  14. The configurator I tried only allowed USB hubs as an option when selected with heated front seats...otherwise they would have been very handy for charging the kids devices on the go
