@shackman1975 Hi John, I agree it is frustrating. The V10 maps probably have the detail but it's not an option. Car manufacturers are famous for poor update schedule to maps. The next version 2019/20 should sort it (fingers crossed). I use my phone also. I fitted fast charge usb in the top box for that reason. If the car gets stuck then I stream the audio via Bluetooth when Google maps is on the phone.

Hi Shackman, You can update the Amundsen+ with SD but only use a V9 set of maps and not V10. The V10 has an error from the factory that will cause it to restart frequently. I got mine from eBay for a RNS 315 it was about £30. They're claimed 2017-2018 maps but more like 2015-16. The V11 maps will probably be more like 2016-17 but glad I updated.

No the only pains were the 3 rivets under the bumper. You need to pull the top off first and be gentle then it'll come out easily. The rest are straight forward just screws. It's better done as a 2 man job but can be done with one person. Added full TPMS. Got custom profile on there thanks to @langers2k. The correct TPMS unit is the hardest to find. Cheap sensors can be had via programmable Autel MX-sensors

Also put in MDI. It was easy getting the glove box out but putting it back in was a pig especially trying to fit it into its clips.

I bought one off AliExpress. It was this one http://s.aliexpress.com/nmMzMRFv? If you install the app you get more money off and shipping was fast around 10 days. It's pretty good. Night vision works well and I'm not so daunted about driving at night with blacked out windows (Standard on the car). It's a pain to get the wiring through but I have some tips. Patience is a must! When I fitted mine I used a fused relay and I got some interference from the power so I used a rectifier.

@jmattley Thanks. It's only been possible because others have done this before I have. I got the heating elements and wiring loom from http://www.skodateile.cz and the climatronic from eBay. Skodateile will make sure you get the right elements for the seats. Different ones for leather and cloth. Stripping down and reassembly is the bit that takes the longest. Once one seat is done the other is a doddle.

@dilksie I was lucky enough to see one on eBay. I went for a scirocco mirror. There were quite a few of them at the time. Golf ones are rare and usually black/grey but they can be painted. It's a pain especially to open them up but possible with patience. Scirocco mirror is smaller but you don't loose much area. You get used to it pretty fast

Hi Rob, The sensor part number is 1K0 955 559 with suffix AF, AH, R, or M. Give your VIN number when ordering to check for compatibility. AF and AH are newer part versions. I don't know which ones are compatible with which CECM/BCM but generally the newer ones are backwards compatible. It's probably something you've done but have you checked the area of the sensor for damage and wax from cleaning as it throws them off. If you get a new sensor it's not hard to change but to save you the cleaning of the area etc find out from your local dealer which sensor you can use and order the newer sensor before changing the windscreen. It takes 2-3 days to come in usually once ordered or you could try eBay (I wouldn't personally for that item). When the guys come to replace the windscreen get them to fit it for you since they'll have to remove and transfer the rearview mirror to the new glass. Just remember to tell the windscreen guys that you want the windscreen with rain sensor. I'm not sure about pre-FL but I hear these days the newer screens come with sensor pre mounted. Check that too. Andy

Discovered that the Amundsen+ was capable of voice recognition. Just need MFSW to take full advantage of it.

Did this the other day before updating the maps on Amundsen. I wanted a faster charge solution and was tired of wires tangling near the handbrake. Also it's been quite handy as phone sits in landscape when it's open. Just experimenting to see what's the best flat folding phone mount so that everything stays in the top box. Will update when I get a suitable solution

It's a 2 step process. First you need to set the country to Australia. Then change settings in maxidot. To change the country go to 17- Instruments and click on "Coding - 07" Then click on "Long Coding Helper" Finally under Bit 4 select "70 Country: Australia (AUS)". Once you have made the changes with VCDS you then need to go into the maxi-dot menu: SETTINGS➡️Units➡️Consu/distance change this back to mpg (GB), mi (as it defaults to 1/100km, km), then SETTINGS➡️MFD data and make sure the box for "Digit.speed" is ticked You can also remove the KPH display at the bottom and replace it with the outside temperature: SETTINGS➡️untick the "ALT.speed dis." box (this will remove the KPH speed and replace it with the outside temp display)
