  1. Have a Darkside kit on mine, works like a dream. Make sure not to use the flywheel bolts supplied with the kit
  2. For a start just reset the cable and see.... even if you change the clutch make sure the cables are reset and the lever play is eliminated.
  3. This is most probably the best thing i have done for my Octy vRS. To be frank i was a bit skeptical since there was a whole lot of people who were complaining, so will just go point by point on the pros and cons. PROS 1. I like to say this loud- Super super silent.. i expected it to have at least some sort of clatter but to my surprise the noise levels were quieter than the LUK DMF that was on the car. 2. Super high quality feel of the flywheel and genuine Sachs Clutch and bearing with lube. 3. Revs build really fast. 4. Lighter clutch feel. 5. Better shift quality. 6. Car overall feels faster. Cons 1. Might sound funny- revs drop really fast and you will be out of the torque band but once we get used to the feel it wont be a real problem. 2.You feel a minor vibration at some point of the drive like when your climbing a ramp on 2nd gear and the turbo just starts to kick in. To be frank i had noticed it only a couple of times in the last 5000miles. 3.The flywheel bolts supplied were crap so had to use the old bolts.
  4. I had to get the bush kit done, replace the cable catchers and reset the cables and also the Transmission oil.. hope you have replaced the Transmission oil with genuine GL-4 (G 060 726 A2) one or Redline because VW Transmissions are very sensitive.
  5. Thanks or the reply. Did all the variants of Octy share the same suspension components?
  6. Hi, Myself was chasing the same issue for over a year, at one point almost purchased a used tranny thinking that it was shot. There are many things that needs to checked before the tranny needs a replacement and trust me on this hundreds of old VWs are getting scrapped because they shift bad.. how funny isn’t it?? 1. Gear lever front to back and side to side free play- The front to back gear lever free play should not be more than 5mm. The side to side play should be zero. If this is not as per the specs above it will show the same symptoms that you face now. You can check the link. https://youtu.be/tnftEgZTykc 2. There are two bushings that help with the reversing mechanism and usually the bottom bushings would be shot No 3 & 4. 3. If your car has run more than 100k miles its better to change the cable catchers since its only a few quid. Mostly the rubber bushings of the catcher will be shot. Skoda Part Number 1J0711761C & 1J0711761B The bushes that needs checking are marked in the pics below and after inspection if it needs replacement a kit is now available link below http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162556017889?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 Regards Train
  7. Hi Guys, Yes its time for the suspension to go for good.. soooooo these are some of the questions of the devil in the mind. Which brand Monroe or Sachs? Does the vRS share the strut and shocks with the other variants of Octy? The front end bushings are new... Lemforders i mean. Rear bushings are still shockingly OEM but should i need to worry??
  8. The most common symptom of N75 valve leak/stuck partially open is delay in boost build up or a feel of lazyness, the major cause of this i feel is gumming up of the valve mechanism due to residual oil entry from the pressure feed pipe. I was able to clear out more than one car just by cleaning the hoses and the valve after removal with a generous spray of brake cleaner and this have literally transformed the car back to its glory. So instead of hurriedly replacing he N75 valve give it a go with brake cleaner and yes the best solution would be the installation of an oil catch can.
  9. Hi all, Very informative and inviting form here, the friendliest lot i have ever seen I was rude the other day by posting on the forum without an intro.....SORRY for that. Myself owns a classic Octi vRs 1.8t love every bit of it and trying to keep it in the best shape possible, no remap or serious mods yet, just a forge splitter. Love to work on my car and also help my friends to get around small issues on their golfs, so have a few tricks up the sleeve for some familiar problems. Will sure have a blast here cheers.
