Front door rubber surrounds wearing
Shenanigans000 replied to shepherdstibb's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk III (2014-2021)
As an aside I plan to purchase some door seal rubber off of the eBays (it's pretty cheap, and should be better quality too). I'll post on here once I've installed it t let everyone know how it goes. -
Warranty question/frustration
Shenanigans000 replied to jonboyuk's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk III (2014-2021)
I'm a little dubious whether Skoda would cover the fog light under warranty anyway - it sounds like the bulb needs replacing, which are usually specifically excluded from warranties (around my way the are anyway). -
Front door rubber surrounds wearing
Shenanigans000 replied to shepherdstibb's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk III (2014-2021)
Well I took my Fabio in for it's 30,000km service and hit up the dealer to replace the door seal. Word back from Skoda was a firm "No" - they consider it to be "wear and tear" damage. Now I know I could argue the case and point out to Skoda Australia that door seals should not "wear out" after 30,000km, but really I just couldn't be bothered. The damage is caused by a combination of suspect design (small door openings) combined with cheap, cost cutting parts (the door seal) which I am aware that Skoda could argue is not a manufacturing defect. Admittedly it would be nice if Skoda Australia would replace the seal as some measure of goodwill and build some customer loyalty, especially as they are still trying to build the brand in this country. In any event I have the power as a consumer to choose differently when it comes to me next vehicle. Skoda most certainly will not be on the list. -
For what it's worth... I cannot comment on the fuel discussion as we don't have so many fuel flavours Down Under, but LED headlight bulbs - I've tried 3 different pairs, and two different types oh HID bulbs, so I can confidently give some real world feedback. Note that I have non-projector, single bulb (H4) headlamps in my Fabio. So, the LED's which I purchased off eBay were pretty much useless - unfocused beam pattern, and gave CanBus errors (even though they weren't supposed to). I did purchase a much more expensive pair of LED bulbs from a bricks & mortar retailer, which were actually reasonably good, but again the beam pattern wasn't quite correct. I also tried a pair of HID bulbs and they were actually excellent for light output (really bright) and correct beam focus / pattern. But the problem with those was that there wasn't enough range between low and high beam: if I adjusted correctly for high beam, low beam was too high and dazzled oncoming drivers, and if I adjusted correctly for low beam, high beam wasn't high enough. In the end I just fitted a pair of Osram Night Breakers, which are good enough. Note that HID bulbs in projector housings do seem to work much better. My last car had projectors and the HID bulbs I put in were brilliant (pun intended). None of this pertains to the legality or otherwise of fitting these bulbs. I know that where I live, while technically illegal to fit these types of bulbs for on-road use, the reality is police aren't too bothered about pulling vehicles over and issuing defect notices for them. In other states which require mandatory annual vehicle inspections it might be more of an issue.

I also have the exact same issue. It seems to stem from a combination of what appear to be unusually small front door openings on the Fabio, along with somewhat flimsy door seals. I have noticed that, in general, the little Fabio is not an easy car to ingress/egress from. I am due for a service in the next week or two, and I plan on bringing it up with the dealer then. We shall see what happens then, and I'll post the results here. -
What does the sound system ..... sound like !
Shenanigans000 replied to Hudson1's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk III (2014-2021)
I would say that's a pretty fair assessment. And nothing that performing an after market upgrade wouldn't fix. As per my previous post I would classify the standard system as "reasonable", for a cheap (ish) car. -
I have the non-projector headlights with H4 bulbs. I fitted Osram Night Breaker "Laser" bulbs and found them to be a moderate improvement over stock bulbs. Just curious which bulbs you fitted?

Before you delete Play Music go in to Settings / Apps / Google Play Music / Storage and tap the buttons to clear data and clear cache. The above path varies a bit depending on you particular phone and Android flavour, but the point is to get to the settings for the offending app and to clear the app data and app cache. Fun Fact! the above is useful anytime time an Android app is misbehaving.

I have the 1.2L 66kw TSI (that's 90 horsepower in your money). Last tankful I averaged 4.8L/100km, which converts to 58.8mpg. That's the best figure I've ever achieved - long term average is about 5.1L/100km (55.3mpg) I've noticed fuel consumption does rise quite noticeably in summer, when the aircon runs pretty much non-stop, to around 5.6L/100km (50.4mpg) But in any event I'm very happy with the overall fuel economy.

Agreed. Most likely the problem is that the condensation drain hose for the A/C evaporator has become dislodged and is draining in to the the interior foot well, rather then to the outside under the car. This is a relatively common problem and is (usually) pretty easy to rectify.

I have the Bolero head unit in my car. I'd say it sounds very good, given the price of the car. There are certainly better sounding systems out there but, for the price point of the car (ie, pretty cheap), it's a good system. -
Yes indeed it can be disabled. You don't need VCDS, it's just a setting that can be turned off via the settings menu (in my Bolero-equipped car).
-
And people live on globes. I say we just call them 'light makers" and be done with it.
-
Ah, yes, that would make sense.

Can't say I've experienced anything like this. It certainly sounds like the sound is dipping due to the SatNav talking, but as you say that's not it. Do you have a phone connected to the system via Android Auto / crApple Car Play ? Perhaps navigation is running on it in the background?
