  1. does anyone know what the key fob freq refers too 1) is it the central locking/alarm ie the buttons on the fob 2) or the ingition key sensor in the barrell
  2. I would like to know where the key code module is in the car. when I put a key in the barrel some times the key symbol flashes and keeps flashing. although it let me start the car. I would just like to know where the transponder is that picks up the key chip signal. how to get to it thanks guys
  3. anyone know how much a dealer would charge for a front wheel bearing to be replaced?
  4. Peeps, wondering if any of you know if the VRS rear shocks are Gas ones. Mine on a 1.4 MPI are leaking oil. looking to uprate if poss to the VRS ones if there Gas. does any one know if they fit other fabias ?
  5. Fabia 1.4, It does sound like your sensor is on the way out, this happend to mine. I would be turning then it would go heavy and the PAS light would come on then go off headlights would flicker. I changed the sensor for a new type (metal) took the old one off was the plastic type and the PAS was fine for 4-5 months until the PAS pump died on me. Now thats very expensive the dealer lightened my wallet by
  6. the fluid filler is under the battery, what a stupid place hey!
  7. yep they are, you can find out what one you have, call the dealer speak to parts give them your chasis number and ask what pump is fitted to your car. it will be 6Q0 423 155 xx last two figures are going to be specific to your car. blimey i cant belive yours has gone with 33K on the clock. makes me think to get rid of the car once its sorted out, cant keep having big bills only after a few thousand miles.
  8. Steve, just a question what age model and milage is your car? mine is a 1.4 MPI 2000 W 42,500 miles
  9. Hi I have the same problem. I have gone the dealer route as I have spoken to them very nicely and got a bit of discount. quoted
  10. cheers Stu I have made a request with them now, will see what comes up.
  11. Lummox found the answers yep your right all pumps have to be coded to the car. main dealer job. the pumps all have different codes aswell mine requires a 6Q0 423 155 AE. so the one on ebays no good. I am between the devil and the deep blue sea. unless I can find a scrappy with the exact one.
  12. Lummox, So does this mean that if I get a used one from a scrappy, this has to be coded to the car? or is it just a brand new pump?
  13. Your telling me! I have never had this much trouble with a car before. I thought I know go for a Skoda as the JD POwer surveys etc. and their part of VAG, good press. having had an Audi before no problem engine/steering wise. just the suspension but that wares out anyway. makes me think I have a friday afternoon car its only done 42K after this PAS problems fixed might have to re think about getting shot. or is it better the devil you know I would like a diesel though with the impending hike in oil prices looming.
  14. Yep defo a PAS light mine on permanently at the mo. might be your sensor is on the way out, easy to check for the old plastic type a common problem. move your wheels for a left turn on to lock, you will need to get on your knees. look through the off side wheel arch you should be able to see the sensor in the rack. check Stu's guide on this so you know what your looking for on his web site. anyway if the sensor has a plastic casing its the old one. I happen to have a spare metal one (new version) lots of problems with my PAS (pump gone
  15. I bought one of these, yep same problem, its that little clip on the bottom of the leaver that it seems to stick on. I got mine on after a bit of tugging. I found that the hand break had to be off or nearly off to heave it on, because the back bit seems to over shoot and should go under the consol. god knows how it will ever come off though seems to be quite a tight fit right snug up against the consol.
  16. Thanks Stu, will have to find out what version I have then, before going and finding one. the dealer will be able to tell me which one I have. Is this common for them to go? I have never had any hastle with PAS before and have owned plenty of cars.
  17. Just got conformation from the dealer that the PAS pump is dead. quoted
  18. ok will do some more checks in am thanks again
  19. argh got it yep see where your coming from. Ok so where is the other end of the plug connected to? + must be the one on top of the battery via a fuse? (check the colour code of the wire) - where does that go? thinking there cant be a short in the pump as it would have taken the fuse out. so connected up to a meter plug in place i should read the resistance of the motor windings. if OC then the pumps shot?
  20. the big plug the one in the middle I check this unplugged from the pump metered accross the two pins is that what you mean by the multi plug or am I missing somthing sorry to be a pain steep learning curve ect.
  21. lummox, sorry to sound thick. but earth from what to what plugs on the pump? battery to engine? because the current earthing goes from the battery to the chasis the further down chasis to engine. might try an earth from the battery to the engine directly. Hum I had a problem once with a nova GTE brand new after six months the gauges kept flicking about turned out to be bad earth from chasis to engine.
  22. Guys, an update I checked the power connector to the pump 12.44v (engine off) I have replaced the steering angle sensor (code 01290) and guess what nothing still no PAS and light still on dash. any ideas will speak to the Skoda dealer tomorrow me thinks if no one can come up with anything
  23. do you think the genuine parts are better than patterned? I would go for genuine as Stu said they are revised, are the patterned ones?
  24. I have Just spoken to the garage chap who did the work. He did'nt cut the PAS angle sensor, what he said to me was that he should of because it was an Ahole to get at. So I have just spoken to the Skoda dealer nice shiny sensor waiting for me to pick up.
