  1. Yes, both cars in questions were purchased from Škoda approved cars from main dealerships. In the second instance, my friend has had to pay £115 for diagnostics to be done to check the battery warning light issue. This was before he was told that he would have to take the vehicle back to the original dealership as it was within the 30 day purchase period. The original post autocorrected to Rhine for some reason rather than ‘battery warning light’.
  2. I purchased an Octavia with <5k on the clock at the weekend. The ŠKODA dealership is located a long distance away and the dealership pushed me to sign the finance agreement before I arrived to save time with the handover which I reluctantly agreed to in the end. The car was in good order overall but the keyless entry didn’t work. The service team were unable to get it working and said it needed full diagnostics (and probably a software update) which would take time. But they said it would be covered under warranty with a ŠKODA dealership closer to home. Given the distance I’d traveled, and that I’d signed the paperwork, I drove the car home. However, the local ŠKODA service teams only have availability from mid-October and want written evidence that the other dealership will pay for the work. It’s a bit of a headache given the cost of the vehicle. Has anyone had a similar issue with keyless entry and is it likely to just require a software update? Incidentally, a friend has just bought a 2020 plate Octavia and the Rhine warning light keeps coming on. He has been told by his local ŠKODA dealership that any faults within 30 days have to be dealt with by the original dealership. Is this the case?
  3. Hello, can anyone recommend a boot cover with a bumper cover to fit a 23 plate Octavia? I can there is a one available for a Karoq but couldn’t find one for an Octavia.

  5. Thanks @SteveTheElder I’ve read good reviews about all seasons tyres, particularly the Cross Climates. I’ve decide to opt for the Octavia and will test drive a 1.0 and 1.5 TSI tomorrow. For my budget, there are very few SELs available (I should probably have made the purchase in March and not now) so I might have to get an SE Tech instead.
  6. I noticed any of the Octavia’s come with Hankook or Kumho tyres. I normally run Goodyear EGs on my Yetis. Does anyone have any other tyre recommendations for the Octavia?
  7. Thanks @AllanDJ, that’s a helpful round up. I’m beginning to wish I’d got this purchase sorted before now as the supply of either model is in shorted supply than March, when I originally planned to buy.

  9. That’s a great spec. I didn’t know about the SEL first edition. The issue we have is that the last Yeti had a fantastic spec and I’m trying to work out if I can forsake the luxury of heated seats.
  10. That’s sounds like a perfect trip! 🍷 Which trim did you opt for? I’m considering an SEL (very few around at the moment) or an SE TEch.
  11. That’s so interesting and a bit depressing. The MHEV version might be a good option for us although it looks like the MPG isn’t that different to the TSI. It’s a shame ŠKODA don’t offer a hybrid version in the Karoq and feels a bit behind the curve.
  12. We could get an electric charge point fitted on the driveway but we’re due to travel to the Alps over the summer holidays and I’m not sure of the charging point set up on the continent. I’m going to read up this week.
  13. @Choclab I have the same issue with pets and elderly parents. How are you finding the Sportline? I liked the design on them but wasn’t so keen on the larger wheels.

  15. Yes, the Karoq interior is also good. And the technology and safety on both cars is so much better than the Yeti.
  16. I really enjoy the elevated driving position but having a more economical car is very appealing right now. I had a look at the interior of a 2023 Octavia yesterday and it looked very plush. It made my 2017 Yeti feel very basic when I got back in it!
  17. That’s interesting. I suspect my 1.2 Yeti is doing far lower mpg than that which is why I’m spending so much on petrol each month. Is the mild hybrid a better option than the petrol version? I’d look at electric but a) the initial cost is so high and b) I’m not sure we have the infrastructure in place across the country yet. Plus we’re likely to start racing in Europe within the next 2yrs.

We do a lot of around town driving but also a high number of motorway journeys to sporting commitments each week inc. 50 mile round trip 4 times a week for training and then regional and national races which are further afield. With all the longer journeys and higher petrol prices, I thought the Octavia might be more economical. The Yeti is such an easy drive but not very aerodynamic. I’ve only ever driven a manual but the test drives were in automatics and were very smooth and relaxing. Are the MHEVs meant to be more economical? I thought that I’d read mild hybrids (more generally rather than specific to Skoda) weren’t a great option. Quote

Hello, I realise I’m posting this on the Octavia forum so there might be the obvious bias… We were all set to swap our lovely Yeti for a Karoq but I’m wondering whether an Octavia estate might be a better fit. We do lots of cycling so there are some benefits to having a lower roof and longer boot but then we’ll have to get used to the lower driving position again. Has anyone driven / owned both and were there any major differences in comfort, road noise etc. We’d be looking at a 1.0 SEL manual or DSG.

  22. Thanks for your advice Chris. I had read some of the newer safety features on the Skoda models were a cause of frustration. It sounds like the cars have so many more features than our little Yeti. Part of me wonders if this means more can go wrong! The 2022 vehicle is still under warranty but if we do the PCP deal you get 2yrs warranty included.
  23. We are planning to replace our much loved SE Drive Yeti and had found a 2020 Karoq with low mileage. However, the dealership have a new facelift 2022 Karoq for £2K more with slightly high mileage due in which we’re considering. Has anyone recently changed from the older style Karoq to the newer, and have you found any major benefits? We did have a look at both specs but didn’t see any major difference unless we’ve missed something. Also, we are planning to get a PCP deal this time so would a newer model be a better option? Thanks in advance for feedback.

  25. Hello, I have a 2017 SE Drive Yeti which has been perfect to date apart from issues with the infotainment system. The problem started about 20 months ago with part of the touchscreen not responding. The problem would seem to fix itself if I turned the system on and off but it's gradually got worse over time and now only a very small section on the left of the touchscreen works. The hands free still works for the phone but I can't really use the sat nav any more although I have this on the phone. The steering wheel controls are working although these have also failed once or twice. I dropped the car to Skoda this morning for a service and mentioned the issue. They suggested that it would be an expensive repair as the whole system would need replacing. I have read about similar problems in other posts and I wondered if anyone else had had similar issues and how they managed to resolve it. I asked Skoda they could do a software update today but they seemed reluctant. I'm looking to change the car this year (probably to a Karoq although I'm still really sad as I love the Yeti) so I need to get it resolved before I sell it. Thanks in advance.
