  1. Yeah, can understand that! Thank you very much for your help, it has at least confirmed I'm right.
  2. Thank you! This was my fear, yes that is the reg of the car. Have you came across this fault before? All my testing leads to the sensors / switches in the selector. I've seen kits online to replace the sensors on the DSG selectors, wiuld you know if the electronics of the DSG would be the same? Loads of DSG selectors on ebay which is why I'm wondering of I could make one from two.
  3. 2007 Octavia 2.0 FSi with O9G Auto box, not DSG. Driving home tonight as some point my gear indicator went static as per the pic, gearbox appeared to be operating as normal. Stopped, switched off, removed key, started again, no difference. After a few miles it returned to normal, just the D highlighted and the gear number displayed, then another few miles it went back to the pic. Next stop, it wouldn't release the key, started the engine, selected some gears, into park again, switched off, key out. Next trip to shop, all appears normal except for the gear indicator. Back into the car to come home and stuck in 1st gear, wouldnt change, but i could change it using tip-tronic. Once home, no reverse lights or parking sensors, won't release the key, some messing around I got the key out. Has anybody ever had something similar? I scanned it with VCDS and got 2 fault codes 18253 - Please check DTC Memory of Steering Electronics (J527) P1845 - 000 - 02413 - Switch for Selector Lever Position P Lock (F319) 008 - Implausible Signal Looking at various channels it would appear the car thinks its stuck in "Manual" and I'm fairly sure the issue lies within the gear selector in the car but I have not yet stripped it out to look properly at it and information online of how to test it is sketchy at best. When first switching on the ignition the P displays normally for less than a second, then 1 - 6 shows on the dash (manual mode display) and then the PRNDS as per the pic. Unplugging the grey square connector stops this happening with just the PRNDS lit, which I understand is the indication of a fault. So, I cannot find a used unit online to suit the 09G and DSG seems to be a different part number, but I'm wondering are the electrics of the DSG essentially the same and I could make a DSG selector work on my car? Part No I believe to be 1K2 713041C Or, can anybody offer any other advice with regard to testing or diagnosing before spending nearly £600 on a replacement shifter?
  4. Pretty sure theres a dash mounting there that would be useable as earth
  5. Epic thread revival I know bit just had a similar experience with my 2007 Octavia II. I'm considering getting a complete surname from the breakers and reconditioning it to do a swap in an effort to have my car off the road for the minimum amount of time. My question is, is there any kits available for all arms / bushes & bolts? Thinking of a poly Bush kit? Thanks in advance
  6. Ok, quick update. Got the right controller, coded in and all working with the exception of the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. Cruise works, but off the stalk so I assume if I replace the stalk with a non cruise stalk then the wheel buttons will work? Wheel is a 4 spoke wheel taken off a Superb but it is identical to the Octavia wheel other than its MFSW. Are there other options available to replace the cruise buttons on the left of the wheel?
  7. Thanks Eddie, I've just spotted my own mistake on the table - DOH!
  8. Do you know is the angle sensor able to be coded out with VCDS? Or is this an important part of the vehicle safety features?
  9. Hi Back to this again, I sourced and fitted 1K0-953-549-BS (original was 1K0-953-549-AP) It has a higher software level but other than that its the same, I was advised by a VW guru this should work fine. One difference I did notice was the plug circled was not there one the BS unit but is on the original. Reason for this post - Before I start searching for coding related faults with VCDS I have the steering warning light on, would it be likely this unit isn't compatible or is it just likely to be a coding issue? Radio controls work however cruise control buttons not working but still cruise still working with the stalk which I believe is a coding issue. Horn not working either but I suspect this is an issue with the airbag loom inside the steering wheel. Any advise gratefully received.
  10. Can anyone tell me if a type 1 controller is comparable with a system originally fitted with a type 2?
  11. It's Mk1 Superb wheel and it is identical to the one I removed to the point the airbags are interchangeable however the numbers are different so I haven't tried to plug them in, I'm using the original airbag. So if I'm reading the table correctly any of the numbers below will work with my car and MFSW? My car being auto I need (want) the key lock to be working. The highlighted one is the controller currently fitted.
  12. Thanks! Are these plug n play or do they need coded? Assuming they need coded is it easily enough done with VCDS?
  13. Controller is 1K0 953 549 AP Had a host of fault codes as well, 01411 I think, controller not configured correctly. I've put the original look back in and everything is working again as it should, tempted to scrap the idea and sell the steering wheel on!
