  1. Hi all, I have owned my 14 plate Diesel VRS for 3 years. Ever since I have owned the car it has made a "chirrup" sound when engaging the clutch. The car had 65K when I bought it with me putting another 40K on it with the current mileage at 104K. I don't feel any shuddering or vibrations when in use so can't see the DMF or clutch suddenly failing (touches wood). The reason I'm posting is hopefully to put my mind at rest a little. I'm looking to purchase an Audi Q3 Diesel manual which uses the same engine gearbox as the Skoda I believe. I've read that the Sachs clutches installed on this car and by the looks of it my Octavia have a design flaw causing the clutch to fail and destroy the gearbox costing around 4-5K to fix (ouch!!). The failure seems to happen from 40k to 50k miles so I'm guessing my Skoda won't have this issue, but my question is does anyone know of a telltale noise or signs of this happening? Thanks Jamie.
