  1. I  only thought I would look for a diesel - sort of a like for like thing ... I use my Roomster  quite a lot for moving a model railway layout around the country (sans seats), So like I travel to places down the motorways etc all over the country - I need a car which is good on long journeys , comfortable to drive  (the seats are great) and that will not be sluggish on the motorways ..ie If I need it  I will have the confidence that the Yeti will perform well and get me out of any difficulties .. Diesl owners I have spoken to seem happy with that side of things ..the 1.2 Petrol engine strikes me to be somewhat lacking in the performance - It might be great around town but I live outside of London etc  and NEVER drive in, yes I do a lot of local runs  but more often than not we travel up and down to Mansfield to see my wife's family... So basically what I am asking is the 1.2 better than its cracked up to be  .a couple of reviews I read said not.. so convince me ....

  2. No its the clutch itself that's screwed cost around £650nin a Skoda dealership or maybe £450 if you know someone ...But the basic thing is the gear box has gone to heaven...
  3. To the tune of Lilly the Pink, rather than sombre music ... I am afraid my Roomster 1.9 TDI , has basically bitten the dust . The gear box has basically had it at 67,000 miles . I ran the car down to Erith and back from Watford last weekend and found I had difficulty getting third gear... I have always had the second gear clunk (damn syncromesh!!) but my gear box seemed to be having a law unto itself. I took the car down to the local dealership (yup the clowns who didn't spot the broken wheel bearing- seems like the idiot who took the car out last time , was sacked anyway he is no longer there) The senior mechanic who has worked for Skoda for around 20 years took it out for a run and found what I had (almost no 3rd gear ) , and also wondered why my clutch setting was so high.... To cut a long story short they costed out the new clutch cable and gear box replacement at an eye watering £2870!! as the car at best being 10 years old was probably worth £1700 at best.... So I declined their offer... So now I am looking for a low mileage Diesel TDI Yeti.....hopefully not a 4x4...
  4. Sorted ...no thanks to Citigate... £253.69 that's parts and labour to sort the issue.. My Roomster went in this morning at 09.00... I got it back around 11.00.. I am NEVER going back to Skoda Citigate at Watford..
  5. Okay right .... Skoda contacted me about my feedback concerning the Watford Citigate operation... I told them what I felt about the organisation and had this charming young lady on trying to smooth things out.. But I was underwhelmed... So I took the vehicle down to a local MOT and car servicing garage who havea great reputation locally- We hopped in the car and the mechanic drove up the road less than 50 yards .. He spotted the issue immediately.. Its the driver's side front wheel bearing - which was my personal original diagnosis.... The car has passed the MOT... It is going into the garage tomorrow and they are going to sort this out... To say that I am fuming with Watford Citigate is an understatement.. Suggest anyone in Hertfordshire avoid them like the plague !! Too many smart arse young men in suits and no nouce !
  6. I was mulling over changing my Roomster for a Yeti.. I have a 1.9 TDI Diesel version on a 2007 plate .. Low mileage (65k) give or take... I wanted to get the opinion of YETI owners as to which is the better option diesel or Petrol and which is comparable with my existing vehicle. Which one is better on the motorways ... I want a manual box - I hate automatic gear boxes... I use mine primarily to move a lot of gear around the country .. I am not interested in gizmos/Leather trim .. I need a vehicle I can remove the seats easily without causing a hernia. The new SUV's seem a poor replacement for both the Roomster & the YETI ... I hate the sloping back window on both of the SUV's . Has anyone got the internal measurements for a YETI boot ( not Litres as that doesn't mean anything to me ) - I need to know the length of the boot- also what is the lump behind the front seats which I do not have in the Roomster.. How much space does this remove. My current car has a spare tyre in the floor I notice this option is available but there is a step in the car... How large is the step ?
  7. Went over to Rickmansworth to a friend who has a Skoda Fabia estate - who knows my car like me..Anyway .. He picked up on the noise straight away- seems to be right hand side ( ie Driver's side) I took him around the Rickmansworth area with its hills etc..The noise does not appear to be related to the gear box.. It seems to be worst when you are changing up from second to third when the revs are around 20/25 on the rev counter. Then once you accelerate above third gear the noise seemed to disappear. Its fine when you are tootling around 2nd/3rd gear at low speeds..The noise doesn't disappear if you take it out of gear..... I was wondering if its either a baffle plate /welding joint in the exhaust system.. My original thought that it was either a buckled wheel/ wheel bearing have been discounted. The front wheels have been checked by both Skoda and Kwik-Fit...Skoda took them off and re-balanced them for me free of charge.. How do I check the rubber mounts on the engine cover.. Is there a book available as to how to check these.. I seem to remember having books over the years for my Octavia and Felicia and other cars I have owned...
  8. Serviced by Skoda in Watford only 65k on the clock CAM belt and Fuel Pump have been changed I also had a new door harness fitted on drivers side and also had the issue with the over-revving just ager I bought this from the Dealership in Finchley.. Don't think the filter and oil have been changed since2014-Nothing has been done to gear box as far as I am aware...MOT is due shortly ... I have taken car in twice to Citigate in Watford and am still unhappy... and the car is too...
  9. I have had my Roomster around 7 years and I use it as a van more often than a car...removing the back seats to allow me to shift a Model Railway around the country.. I have an issue which is a total mystery to me , I seem now to have a vehicle which has got an excessive engine noise, especially when I am accelerating from 30- 55.. Less its fine , when stationary no noise.. When I am belting up/down the motorway the sound seems to reduce. Skoda in Watford have had both front wheels off thy are not damaged in any way - they have been checked for wheel balancing... They say they have taken the car out for a run and could not find anything wrong... I also took the car into kwik-Fit and had the opportunity to walk underneath and could not see any untoward damage. I know my own car , I know how it should sound and this sounds unwell.. I have no warning lights coming on - I took it for a long run on several different types of road and could not figure out what's actually causing the issue. Any bright ideas.... Oh by the way this is my 3rd Skoda , previously I had a Felicia Estate and an Octavia Saloon..
