  1. Hi all, I'm down to just one large speaker and one tweeter working in all my four doors now! :( So looking to replace all speakers (8 in total?) Are there any good guides for the process? I know i'll need certain adaptors etc? i assume i need to drill out the speakers? any advice glady received please? I have an Amundsen + head FYI Thanks in advance
  2. I've now sorted this, fuse had gone!!! Doh!! Thanks anyway
  3. SD card arrived and maps updated to latest maps woo-hoo! although did make me laugh that it still doesn't know where I live and I've been moved in 2.5yrs now! I assume SatNav maps are not updated THAT quickly!!
  4. Hi all, while fitting a microphone for BT into my celing light in my Octavia, I stupidly broke the main switch on it. Wasn't repairable sadly :( So ordered a spare light off ebay which i fitted last night, but its not working either :( I swapped the bulbs and still no joy Now I'm thinking its probably a duff one sent to me via ebay most likely, but is there anything else I may be missing? I had the ever helpful adamal help me out on the mic fitting and stereo upgrade which all works fine. He ran a diagnostic on the car which brought up a light fault, but as I'd broken the switch I assumed thats it Do i need the fault clearing before the light will work again? Is there a fuse I should check? I don't want to send back the light, get another and have the same issue if I'm missing something obvious? (probably am knowing me! ) Thanks again for all your help - this place is fab
  5. Thanks again - so this type of thing?.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LATEST-VW-SKODA-SEAT-RNS-315-AMUNDSEN-V9-SD-CARD-UK-EUROPE-MAP-UPDATE-2017-2018-/282283336168?epid=2107149493&hash=item41b965e1e8:g:UKEAAOSwTM5Y37zz Man my desire to upgrade this stereo is getting more and more costly by the day!!
  6. Thanks, so how do I go about upgrading my maps then? Can this be done on any SD card?
  7. so massive thanks to Adamal on here, my amundsen+ is in and working! - I managed to break a part in the cabin light fitting the mic, but thats an easy ebay sort. The maps are a bit out of date though, reading on here they can be downloaded, but need to go on an official Skoda SD card? can these be bought? obviously my head unit did not come with one - ta
  8. ahhhhhh - I was going to pull my current Bolero out again and check this, so it goes into the back of the quadlock connector and then that clicks into the right bottom corner? makes sense - thanks for the confirmation
  9. OK - so bits ordered are starting to appear, including the Amundsen+ head unit (see pics), and the microphone bits plus GPS antenna The GPS antenna looks to have the correct connection to go to the new blue port on the back of the head unit, but the connector for the microphone long cable to go into the back of the unit I can't see where it would go? It sort of looks like it would fit bottom right? But the standard 2 connectors that go in the existing Bolero go here? Have I got the right connector??? I have a super-helpful forum member on here ( adamal ) who is going to assist me with install and coding, but I don't want to roll down to him to find I've got the wrong bit? Can anyone confirm how the mic lead connects to the back of the amundsen? Ta
  10. Thanks again So this fits to the light in middle of top of windscreen in the car? Is there a vid somewhere or a guide I could follow to fit it? Sorry I'm being a bit needy! I'm happy fitting car stereos and done a few speaker fits, just need to know correct placement and routing of cables - I'm mighty impressed by how helpful you've been
  11. I haven't given up completely on the idea, just compared to previous cars its a bit more work I'll look in a mo around these forums a bit more and see if people are offering VCDS services (does this have to be done at same time as fitting unit? or could I fit it all beforehand?) also need to look for what Microphone to order, do the amundsens take a standard jack microphone? Plus will ask for new trim from Briskoda parts Got to weigh up time/costs also and its all a no-go if I can't find a helpful local S.Wales VCDS guru!
  12. Its all making the tipping point of putting up with IPhone for sat nav and a handsfree kit, compared to sourcing someone with this knowledge, fitting it all and having the install fiddlyness a little un balanced - I'll have a good thunk at home and see how i feel. Brownie points for you though sir, you have been a font of knowledge
  13. dammit janet, this was so much easier in my old car - old stereo out, new one in (with adaptor) - job done might just get a hands free kit and be done with it thanks for all the advice though, its just starting to sound more and more like a beefy ball ache!
