  1. Hi, Did you need to take out the gear box to get to the slave cylinder after all? If you don't mind me asking, was it an expensive fix? I'm looking at buying a 4x4 octavia that's got the same clutch problem, trying to get an idea of what kind of costs I'm going to be facing. Thanks
  2. I'm at the same stage, with the same car. Also looking for ideas
  3. So, the octavia '05 1.9 pd tdi (4x4 6 speed manual ) has started to get a bit smokey and is not as spritely as she once was. I've given her a dose of injector cleaner, and a reasonably thorough drive to clean the system. It may need the EGR valve cleaned out. But I think after 150,000 miles the turbo has started to give up. I was giving a bit of thought to replacing the turbo with a 130, or even a 150 gt tdi turbo. Has anyone else up sized the turbo in their car? What route did you go down? What kind of results did you get? Around 150 bhp, with a reasonable increase in cross range torque would be ideal. I'm not trying to go mad, as it's my daily driver.
  4. I recently swapped my octavia 4x4 over to a set of audi 16x 225 winter Tyres e that I bought with alloys for £140. (Gumtree special) They are very good in the rain and frost. Hope this helps, summer Tyres are in a shed for when the sun comes out again.
  5. I have tried all suggestions, and thank everyone for their help, but I'm taking her to a local mechanic, he's a good guy
  6. I recently changed the battery in my key fob ( I got a guy in an auto parts shop to do it for me) Now the car locks fine, but will only pop the boot open, no doors are opened by the remote central locking. It only opens by the key in the drivers door, then key in the ignition, then the unlock button in the centre consol, by the hand brake Does anyone have a similar story with their car? Or the fix for this please? Any help is greatly appreciated. Cheers Ian
  7. Hi, Does anybody have any experience of the esp light staying on, and the 4x4 not engaging? I've got a 2005 octavia estate that should be 4x4, which is frustrating, as the 2wd version would have been about £800 cheaper. Now, when I accelerate, or take the car off the tarmac, it spins the front left wheel(always the left, no matter which way I am steering, on sand, grass, or gravel) The tyres all have about 80%thread. I've scanned the OBD port with a kit, and it shows no fault. Is it time to face the music and get it to a specialist which would be costly? Are there mechanical components that would cause this? Brakes, sensors, sensor wires, discs, the haldex gear, etc etc? Any help is greatly appreciated
