  1. It's 100,000 that VW brand (with their higher profit margins) is missing out on! Nuff said.
  2. Skoda has been 'too popular' with the car buying public for the liking of VW. Skoda has been taking sales off the parent company. So, as all good parents do, Skoda gets slapped down for being 'too cheeky'.
  3. Snatch their hand off! 👍🏻
  4. TBH I'm not sure whether I believe VW on this issue. They have proved themselves to be such double dealing liars in the past (recall the emissions scandal?). - The EU still have not punished VW for that yet! Neither has the UK Government. Infancy the UK Government have not even lifted a finger to offer help UK citizens to obtain compensation from VW! A fact I feel extremely angry about! Anyway, I simple do not trust ANYTHING that comes from VW. They are a disingenuous, slippery Business to deal with!
  5. Well, The Citigo EV dream of all dedicated Brit Pensioners out there has gone T*TS UP! Just 400 been sold in UK and that's it - the dream is over. Supply has been chopped by VW because they're not making any profit out of it (they tell us). Personally, if I was in the market for an ultra small EV (which I'm not), I'd go for the Renault Zoe. It's a lot more stylish than the Citigo and has greater range between charges. So that's it! The months of anticipation & joy of strutting down the Skoda Dealership with the contents of your Piggy Bank bulging your pockets, hoping to be driving away in a sparkling new Citigo EV have now gone up in smoke! Thank VW for destroying your dream.
  6. I have access to 4 cars! My wife's Bread Van that she uses and I use for shopping & getting my Compost & Gravel etc for the garden. Then there's my MX5 for 'Roof Down' trios to the Cotswolds, Stratford on Avon & other sundry warn sunny days out. Then there's the Mini Coupe Cooper S for a bit of a 'Fast Burn'. Lastly, the Suzuki Mild Hybrid for lumping suitcases to the airport for trips to South of France. I lead a pretty boring life really compared to the rest of you I guess!
  7. I can afford petrol and enjoy the engaging drive a petrol engine gives a motorist. Also, I stop where I want to NOT where I have to! 😊
  8. Well, it isn't the end is it? Don't forget the Citigo is just a Badge engineered VW Up & Seat Mi. The public have been conned over the years to believe that VW Up is better screwed together than Skoda Citigo. In fact they are made on the same production line in 'Skoda-land' 😊 Just s few cosmetic differences identify the cars apart. They will continue making the badged VW eUp & Electric Seat Mi (I'm led to believe) because VW sell them at an inflated price over the Citigo to get a better financial return for themselves. So, if you're really keen to buy the Electric version of the 'Bread Van' just dig deeper into your Bank Account and buy the Electric Up or Electric Mi. That way you keep 'the little woman' happy and you swell VW profits even more. Happy motoring!
  9. Is anybody surprised that VW has scrapped the idea of continuing production of the e-Citigo with a washing machine motor in it? Skoda had a perfectly good 3 cyl 1 litre Petrol engine in the Citigo, then some clown in the VW boardroom decided to put an Electric Motor in a Car with all the style of a House Brick. It just hasn't got enough appeal to sell in big volumes. The Citigo looks like a Bread Van & only appeals to old fart pensioners who reside in God's waiting room. No self respecting individual under the age of 50 would ever buy one. I understand the e-Citigo has only sold 400 units in UK since it's launch last Dec. Looks like going the same way as the Sinclair C5.
  10. Replying to Cornish expat: I agree I think the world has gone mad. Certain some elements of the motoring public who are buying these Citigo's that used to cost £10,000 with a highly developed & sophisticated 3 cylinder petrol engine in it that returned 65mpg. The Pensioners are trading in their perfectly viable petrol powered Citigo's for cars with exactly the same platform as before but instead of petrol power the new Citigo is supplied with a Washing Machine Electric Motor. They must be mad! It can't be the young who are buying the Citigo E, because the Citigo is as stylish as a House Brick. I know cos my wife owns one! No, its Old F**ts like me who buy them. Pensioners with more money than common sense who can easily afford to by Petrol.
  11. Looks lolike chipping or poor paint adhesion due to inadequate cleaning of the metal & poor preparation. Either way not aceptable from VW and a 'repair' would be a hacked job.
  12. Paint peeling off a new £20,000 EV Citigo after only 3 WEEKS? A Shocking & Disgraceful State of Affairs on a brand new car! Even the paint on new £2,000 Lada in the 1980's lasted 5 to 7 years!
  13. I understand they are...
  14. Nobody appears to notice how the price of new cars has rocketed over the last 5/10 years. Some people like Robert thinks that paying £20,000 for a new p*ddling little Electric Citigo is good value. And, I have a other 'bone of contention' with Electric Cars. We're told that the Service Costs (and intervals) will be approx the same as Petrol Cars. How can that be reasonable. No Oil Change, No Filter Change, No Valve Clearances to adjust. Just an Electric Motor that runs for ever...
  15. It Range thats the most important aspect of ANY vehicle. If a vehicle hasn't got range & there's no reliable means of replenishing its power source as required, it's useless. That's the situation with EV at the moment. And situation ain't going to change substantially for the next to 10 years, if indead the means of generating electricity on a national scale will ever cope with the demand & ever allow it to happen. Then, we have the poor performance of EV in low temperature conditions or when there's great demand from the electric systems of the vehicle, lights, heating, radio, etc. Reduces range even further. Then there's the problem of disposal of the batteries on a massive scale used in these vehicles. They are full of nasty contaminants & polutents of our Planet. As bad as getting rid of Nuclear waste. Going EV is not all Win, Win. We just swap one load of issues & problems for another. Just as another potential issue I'll throw in here. What are the Arab Countries, Nigeria, Venezuela and other countries going to do for income when we don't buy their oil anymore? Nobody has even thought of the social unrest in the World that will create
  16. If you want one, go buy one. Just leave us alone to drive the 'proper' cars...
  17. Will suit many, but not me. We use my wife's Petrol Citigo just as we use my car. So, I expect long range & modern driving electronic aids from any cay we spend £17,000 + on buying. The EV Citigo is a cut down car with limited range, no satnav & misses other 'goodies'. So, the EV Citigo may appeal to people who are desperate to get into EV's and on limited budget or who's requirements are for basic travel but, it's not for me...
  18. Hang on, hang on! We haven't left the EU yet so don't start telling lies on what the prices are now! Also, I don't care who's doing the 'ripping off'. Skoda UK are an agent of VW Skoda, so they have to pass all the trading requirements of the Parent Company. So, it's the Parent Company who are doing the Ripping Off. Don't muddy the water....
  19. Yes, Jerry is ripping the Brits off again... But not me 😁 'cos I ain't buying one.....
  20. Your Citigo EV is considerably cheaper than they are in UK. I believe the EV version in UK is £20,000+ Thats including the Gov discount.. By the way, the UK Gov in scraping the EV Discount Scheme in March this year (2020) so they'll be even more expensive then. I can't see Skoda selling many more than a handful of EV Citigos in UK, TBH. There is newer designs of far more attractive small EV cars coming on stream in the UK with far more tech goodies included at competitive prices. With do respect to you, I sincerely hope you will be ecstatic with your new EV Citigo, however I do think the EV Citigo is extremely meanly appointed (not even Sat Nav), and styling wise, past its 'sell by' date. But that doesn't mean to say its not a good car, it's just that I will be looking for something a bit more stylish for my wife to drive when we change in about 12 months time. I do like the look of the brand new 2020 Toyota Yaris Hybrid which will be available 3rd quarter 2020 in the UK. A brand new car & they've re-thought the Hybrid drive technology on it.
  21. Well that will slow EV sales down considerably in the UK & make them a far less attractive purchase to the car buying public. Obviously, by removing these incentives to buy, it seems Climate Change & Air Pollution isn't the issue that the Greens & Extinction Rebellion would have us believe it is.
  22. No chance of Leaf or Prius for me. I've driven a mk2 Leaf, Great car but nothing draws me to it. It's an EV Modeo.
  23. TBH, If we replace my wife's Skoda Citigo greentech in the ear future, I rather like the look of the new Toyota Hybrid that will be available middle of next year. A brand new model, new sexy shape, loads of new technology & Toyota have re-thought through the Hybrid & totally re-engineered it. It looks impressive. Also I shall have a look at the brand new Hyundai i10. Also a brand new car with loads of technology & a new striking shape, but not a Hybrid. I most certainly won't be looking at the new EV Citigo. Although I'm 73 we're not ready for God's Waiting Room just yet. 😂
  24. I entirely agree with you CitogoBob. They ai t going to get me out of Petrol until they work a lot, lot hstder & make Electric much much more attractive to the purchaser...
