Are these 19"s or 18"s? Also, how far is that lowered - 40mm?
  2. Haha. Forgot to get back to this. It was a fantastic drive - makes such a pleasant change to be on quiet roads! In the end, re. the headlights, I had to wait until I actually arrived in France. For some reason, the car wouldn't give me 'right hand traffic' as an option to select under settings/lights in the UK, but as soon as we got off the ferry I was able to toggle between the two. So that's what I did - selected 'right hand traffic' (which means driving on the right, not the oncoming traffic is on the right!) and it worked a treat. Very simple, but it wasn't automatic. Cheers
  3. Was considering this, but my car's leased. Would have to remap it back to stock at the end, but I'd be concerned that it would be picked up by the dealer during a service / in the event of any problems.
  4. Well that all sounds very promising - cheers. I'll see what happens when I get off the ferry Monday afternoon and let you know how I get on.
  5. I've done a topic search but the results are a bit inconclusive.... Driving to France on Monday. I have those Eurolites reflector stick on thingies but don't want to risk leaving near permanent residue on my headlights. I'm led to believe that there is an option on the car's computer settings to electronically adjust the headlights for European driving? Anyone got any experience of this? Cheers. I've got a Sportline with Xenons btw.
  6. Wow, this is a shocking story. So sorry to hear it's severely affected your livelihood mate. A garage selling watered down fuel? That's absolutely disgusting!!
  7. I love my 150 engine. Plenty of power for me, and I like driving fast. Love the torque.
  8. There are a few issues on the car which I think may all be related; The washer fluid tank leaks (quite significantly) and I randomly lost a piece of the front grill. The ride was SO harsh, they could've easily been damaged on hitting any number of bumps and potholes. If it sounds like you're driving into a wall, that can't be good for the car... I'm so annoyed with myself for not getting it looked at sooner, but I just put it down to aggressive sports suspension.
  9. Just been driving mine around cursing the ride for a year! It was only a knocking noise - because presumably it eventually snapped - that made me take it in to the dealer. They came up with some convoluted story - 'mounting bracket needed tightening mate' - as to how it was a simple fix. Well the ride is now transformed. I hope it hasn't done any damage, being in that state over 10,000 miles?
  10. Wow. Cheeky ******os!! A year's worth of whincing every time we went over bumps, for no reason whatsoever other than their own negligence. Thanks very much for that.
  11. Bit of a strange one, this, and I wondered if anyone can shed any light. So we've had our Sportline for just over a year and we've been cursing the harsh ride for the first 12 months. Absolute CRASHING into every pothole, and bumpy roads have been an ordeal. It was so bad when we first got the car, I considered taking it back and trying to change it for a non-Sportline version. Anyway, we started to get a knocking noise from the front offside over bumps, as the springs extended or contracted. Having owned VAG group cars on and off for quite a few years, I assumed it was a broken suspension arm or maybe a broken spring. Such was the firmness of the ride, it felt like sooner or later something was going to 'go', with the state of the roads in this country. I ranted and raved a bit at the service manager on the phone and he asked me to bring it in for a look. So I did, and sure enough, the Master Technician could hear the knocking on the test drive. He whipped it into the garage and I took a seat in the waiting area. Ten minutes later, literally, he emerges. 'All done' he says. He tried to explain that it was some sort of bracket around the top of the suspension mount that had worked its way loose since the car left the factory. No charge etc. Simple fix. I was delighted, because I could foresee a battle with me arguing the warranty should cover it and them saying I've damaged the car. No worries. Sorted. That was a few weeks back, and not only is there no trace of the knocking noise, but the ride in general is noticeably better. So much so, in fact, that it feels like a different car. Surely it's not just psychological? Hasn't crashed over a single bump nor pothole. Whilst the ride is still reasonably firm, it's just how I like it. So what gives? Is there some kind of 'factory packaging' around the suspension that they'd forgotten to remove, hence the overly-firm ride then the knocking? Or was something set wrongly? Either way, all's well that ends well, but I'm curious to know, and this also gives the heads up to anyone having similar issues. Ten minutes work to transform the ride? Strange one, that, as I said.
  12. It depends what the roads are like where your normal drive is. We've been driving around Cornwall all week, very narrow roads etc. but the surfaces are generally very good - and the ride quality is excellent. Very surprised at how little road noise there is, to be honest. However, where I live, the roads are terrible. Potholes everywhere. Really poorly maintained. The car doesn't cope with them at all. If you hit one at anything other than crawling speed it sounds like you've driven into a wall. However, how much of that is down to the wheels/tyres, and how much is down to the lower suspension on the Sportline, I'm not sure - but the biggers wheels certainly won't help! Road noise though - don't worry about that.
  13. Thanks mate! Yes we love the colour. Looks silver in some lights and darker grey in others, but light enough to show the contrast of the black detailing.
  14. There are quite a few sets of components on the market with higher sensitivity ratings than 91db. If you want a full range/coax speaker there are even more!
  15. Yeah, depends on the trim level. Some have KESSY as standard. But then the L & K has Canton as standard. To be honest the Sportline's inability to handle potholes is starting to make me think I should've gone for a L & K anyway.
  16. Sadly not, although the basic system is actually pretty good. Nice balance, good detail, you just can't drive it massively hard. I might tweak it, yes, just exploring those options. May just end up putting an active sub in.
  17. I think it depends how you're viewing the forum. I personally haven't put the colour in a post because it's listed to the left of every post anyway - it's Business Grey btw - but I'm not sure that same information comes up if you're viewing it on a phone.
  18. Took it straight round the in-laws. Wife's Dad drives a mint 3 year old Merc E-Class AMG in midnight blue. He was cursing and wish he'd gone for a similar colour to ours. Then his missus starts having a go at him, saying look how much more you get for your money with one of these Both of them were blown away. The styling? Somebody deserves massive props.
  19. I was a bit worried about the colour choice. I needn't have.
  20. Mate the kids are all over it. I can't remember the last time I went anywhere in the car with them without them arguing! Certainly not in this decade, anyway!!
  21. The trade in to the right......16 year old rust-ridden, creaky, squeaky, smoky, leaky (sounds like a bad Seven Dwarves remake) Audi A6 Avant. The new motor to the left after signing the docs and taking the keys
  22. Nice mate. I've had a few Rainbow products over the years. Got a Rainbow Dream 1 powering the sub in my Audi A3
  23. If you're not using an amp you want to get something with reasonable sensitivity i.e. at least 91db. Within your price range I would consider Hertz or Focal. The Hertz in particular are good with low power in, so not necessarily needing an amp.
