  1. Is that a simple swap or do I need to have any additional cabling etc to wire it up?
  2. I've read through a few posts on replacing this unit but since they were a few years old I thought I'd ask again. My unit has BT built in but I'd like android auto instead. I'd prefer to keep the OEM look but I'm open to third party solutions as well, however I have no access to vcds so prefer simple plug and play.
  3. Sorry if this has been discussed before but I'm having an issue with my Samsung S21 and mk2 Superb. I can pair for calls & audio fine but on reconnecting the phone only toggles on calls, it refuses to activate audio until I disconnect and repair the devices. Am I missing something really basic? I plan to swap the radio for an Android Auto but right now I would love to just get BT working.
  4. If there are any Irish owners considering selling an auto estate please get in touch. I'm looking for one at the moment for under 9K€
  5. https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/skoda-octavia-vrs-tdi-170bhp-2010/23659287 That's the only auto I can find at the moment within budget Hopefully people trading in come January will give me more options
  6. I'm in the market for a diesel VRS and would prefer an auto for the drive I have for work. However reading the DSG related threads has me spooked and a local independent dealer is telling to keep away from them, although he has a manual vrs to sell me I'm taking his advice with a pinch of salt. I've seen a few models around, all with over 100K miles on them but one in particular has a the gearbox rebuilt 2 years ago by a local VAG specialist. I'm always wary of problematic trends (320d timing chain for example) as you only ever really hear the worst case scenario stories (not trying to make light of anyone who''s had problems with their DSG). Thoughts?
  7. we ended up selling it back to the dealer and getting a 1.6Tdi instead. Waiting to pick it up next week.
  8. While fitting my new panel filter I noticed the mounting and rather small inlet for the air at the front of my Fabia MC. Anyway while searching around for ideas of how to mount it I stumbled across the PD160 mod for the fabia vrs. Is there any similar intake that will fit my engine?
  9. hmm, tempted to get a remap to see if the extra torque and power would help but I will admin my wife has a habit of riding the lower dears (especially 4th) for too long. Will see what its like after the service etc.
  10. We've a 2019 since new in January with the 115bhp 1.0 engine. My wife drives it mainly with a mix of city and motorway driving over a 20km commute. At best the car is doing 40mpg (when I take it and baby it) but mostly its around 35mpg. According to honestjohn and the dealer we should be getting more than that. Just curious what others are getting? Its going in for a 1st service at the end of the week and have mentioned it to the garage again.
  11. Jaysus lads some of ye have fierce notions about driving & physics altogether. All I was looking for was opinions on pads, if one brand was better than another, Maybe I'm being unfair but the difference in breaking performance between my Fabia, all disc, and Octavia is huge. The Octavia stops on a button, the Fabia doesn't fill me with diffidence when I hit the pedal.
  12. I've just had my 2016 Fabia Monte Carlo remapped (90 to 130bhpish) and the increase in power has me worried about the stopping power, or lack thereof. Apart from changing the discs to something from brembo etc is there any other simpler upgrades that might help like pads, etc?
  13. I meant to update last week, it was the anti roll bar bushes in the front of both cars which were replaced to fix the knocking noise. Hope this helps.
