  1. Thanks for that bud, time to have a wee nosey I think.
  2. Hi guys, has anyone used an OBD eleven device on a MK3 Octavia vRS TDI. I was curious as to what options there would be to activate different settings and features that may well be optional extras. Thanks in advance......
  3. Hi troops, my good lady has been reading some daft article and now wants to know if I can activate (sound) the car alarm deliberately to use as a type of panic alarm. Anyone know of this? It's a 66 plate vrs TDI.
  4. I have the diesel vRS estate with the 19" xtreme wheels and low profile tyres which on paper should be a rough ride on anything other than a perfect road surface, however....I find the ride very comfortable and smooth, much more so than I expected. Give it a go.....great machines!
  5. Yes as long as you have smartlink enabled. If you don't you can buy the activation code from skoda.
  6. I have a 66 plate vrs with the amundsen system and find it easy to use, quick enough and every now and then beats Google maps hands down. Google had me a mile out using the same postcode but skoda system took me to the door in an industrial estate just last week. Also recently took a trip up and around the highlands.....try using Waze or Google maps without a signal to the phone. It's not a bad system in my opinion (even if it's not the best) and even better when you actually bother learning a bit about it, like how to enter postcodes etc.
  7. Thanks for that ahenners, I was accelerating fairly hard at the time when the vehicle ahead decided to make a left turn without indicating. I may, as you suggested have braked myself as I was well aware of the situation before the car started panicking.
  8. This might be a stupid question but I have a 66 plate pre facelift Octavia vrs which has the front assist fitted. I have once or twice had the red warning in the dash come on so does that mean that I have autonomous braking too? I've never felt it...
  9. Nowhere near as bad as 10m visibility but enough to obscure the view
  10. That looks like a truly epic road trip and something I would really like to do myself. My only proper road trip so far in the vRS was a couple of days up around sections of the NC500 which is up the Scottish Highlands, although it's a stunning place it doesn't have quite such dramatic scenery......in my opinion. Low cloud cover, mist, fog and rain didn't help though!
  11. Devopuk & Pilotguy thanks very much, greatly appreciated!!!
  12. Hi guys n gals, this might be a stupid question but how do you activate the heated mirrors in a 66 plate vRS TDI estate? I must have them as there is a symbol for them on top of the mirror controller as you can see in the photos. Any help would be appreciated.
  13. I realise that this is probably the wrong place for this but since we are on the subject....I washed mine on Friday, only a week and not many miles covered since the last wash. Didn't even look that bad but had the weather so went for it....two buckets really do work eh, jings!
  14. Rides very well indeed even for such large wheels. Sometimes feels a wee bit "jiggly" at slow speeds but once your moving you would never know as it's very compliant.
  15. About once a week at the moment, but we're still in the honeymoon period
  16. Hi Discostu72, they are indeed the 19" extreme wheels, I think they come as part of the black pack plus. Love em...
  17. I think all the "lighter" colours benefit from the black pack, mine has black pack plus which is nice. Can't remember the name but I also really like the new grey colour that's a bit like an undercoat....
  18. Hi stever750 that's an awesome looking machine. I originally fancied the Rallye green before I plumped for race blue.
  19. Best car I have ever owned....took a while to convince the Mrs too but she loves it as much as me now
  20. Well it's getting to the time of year when there will be ample opportunity for wet road testing unfortunately. Auric, I would have thought that higher pressures would benefit economy but have a detrimental effect on grip ??? I think mine are currently running at 36 PSI
  21. Cheers for that SWboy, to be fair I'm still driving like miss daisy so not tested the tyres potential at all. I'm kinda with you on the vague feel though.
  22. Right guys, looking for some objective opinions. I've only had my octavia vrs for a few weeks but have already had to replace one of my tyres (P Zero 19") at a eye-watering price of £158 due to a big screw right through the edge of it. I see some in here slating the tyres but for what reasons??? I've not had them long enough to make my mind up on them myself. Was looking at Rainsports for the future but willing to be swayed by those of greater experience!
  23. Well I got the car back from the dealer this morning and I must admit it looks exactly like it should, Skoda branded screen and the channels all clear. Washed and hoovered too.
  24. Hi Marko, Believe it or not I still don't have it back. Dealer called on Friday to advise that the calibration wouldn't be finished until last thing Friday so Monday would be best to pick her up. Damn I miss it.
