  1. Hi Sittingbull, Well I got the car back and running as it should but had a long think about what to do, keep the car & run it until it dies or possibly trade it in for something else as I was concerned about the on-going reliability of the DSG especially as Skoda UK / VAG did not want to help out in any way at all. I took my complaint to the Ombudsman and as far as I'm concerned they are useless, no power to really do anything to help and basically they have let my complaint 'die' naturally as for me they are not pro-active at all. In the end after a long debate and researching lots of options I decided to sell my Skoda as I rely on it for the work I do and can't have it breakdown on me again like it did. So I toured my local dealers and got a good price on a trade-in against an newer and more expensive car so I had to raid my piggybank to do the deal. I feel it was the best option for me as I have a car still under original manufacturers' warranty plus it has extended warranty and a full service package for 2 more years, a no-brainer really. My experience has put me off Skoda / VAG products for the foreseeable future having defected to a UK based Japanese car maker from Swindon ! I also tried Resolver with my complaint but again they seem to have 'no teeth' and aren't very pro-active.
  2. Hi everyone, Just to let you know I collected my repaired Octavia yesterday from the Skoda dealer, ALS Autos, Ely, Cambs and paid the £4652.94 for their work.( Parts- £3301.46, labour £576.00, VAT £775.48 ) Apparently it comes with a 2 year parts & labour warranty, having been carried out by a Skoda dealer....well I do hope that it will last 2 years and more...... as I will have to keep this car for longer than planned because of the very high cost of the repair involved. I have contacted Skoda & the Motor Ombudsman via the Resolver website, about my complaint and hope to receive some reply regarding this in due course as Skoda have never written to me as I had asked them to, just phoned me after I contacted them by email and by telephone because all I got was an automated reply to say that they ( Skoda ) take customer service seriously......well not from my experience of them they don't !
  3. Hi, I have been trying to access the links from AndersNordh but none of them work for me and I'd really like to read these and to give me more ammunition to quote to Skoda UK about my 2012 1.8 TSi Octavia Elegance Estate's 7 speed dry clutch DSG failure @ 54,000 miles after 5 years. Can anyone help me, please ?
  4. Thanks again, I have contacted Skoda UK who have rejected my claim and I am now taking it to the Motor Ombudsman and I have also raised my complaint through the 'Resolver' website complaints system linked to 'money saving expert.com'. My car has now had a brand new DQ200 7 speed fitted by the local Skoda agent at great cost as I need the car and it would be worthless with a defective transmission. I also asked specific questions about the new unit to which Skoda have not replied. Has anyone got any specific links about the change of transmission fluids and also that the once 'sealed for life' ( how long would that be.....) transmission now has to have a fluid change every 40,000 miles as I was told of this but can't find it anywhere.
  5. Thanks for this, can you send me the link for the pinned topic as I can't find it....still searching.
  6. Hi Awayoffski , and thanks for this, just checked and my Octavia is not on the recall list. Thanks again, been in touch with Customer Service but so far no real response or offers of help as the cost to replace the faulty 'box is £4720.60 in total.....on a car worth £6500.00...steep, but I'll have to get it done and keep it for longer than planned...or possibly part-ex it earlier, if I can find even more 'spare' savings !
  7. My Octavia is at the local Skoda dealers who have diagnosed the fault ( ALS Autos, Ely, Cambs), the trouble code is showing that it is stuck in 6th gear, P073B......not my experience as I managed to drive it the 6 miles home by changing up manually, 1-3-5. The dealer has found metal particles/ debris in the DSG and informs me that a complete new DSG is required, can it not be rebuilt I wonder and if my car has only covered 54,00 from new, been serviced by the manufacturer's schedule then why has this happened ? Seems to me more likely to be a premature failure or a manufacturing fault ? Was there a recall for DSG problems ? My Octavia is a 2012 model, 1.8 TSi petrol, DSG Elegance Estate.
  8. Hi, Just looking for some helpful advice for my poorly 2012 1.8 TSi DSG Octavia Elegance Estate, which has covered 53,000 miles and suffered a 'box fault as in it has 'lost' gears 2, 4 + 6 and will only shift between 1-3-5-7 if I do this manually. Managed to get it home the 6 miles after it happened and booked into the friendly local-ish Skoda dealer ( ALS Autos, Ely, Cambs ) on Weds this week. Any thoughts on this fault, likely causes, possible costs, etc. Thanks in anticipation.
  9. Hi, Just found this site as I own a 2012 Octavia 1.8 TSi Elegance estate that has suffered a DSG failure @ 53,000 miles......
